  1. TheCarConnection.com - They give the FFH a 8.8 out of 10. That beats the TCH, Prius, Malibu, and pretty much every other mid-size car. Ford Fusion Hybrid 8.8 (out of 10) BMW 3-Series 8.6 Chevy Malibu 8.6 Nissan Altima 8.4 Toyota Camry Hybrid 8.2 Toyota Prius 8.2 Saturn Aura 7.8 Volkswagen Passat 7.8 Toyota Camry 7.6 Chrysler Sebring 7.2 http://www.thecarconnection.com/modelintro/ford_fusion_2010
  2. Some new reviews of the FFH. All very positive. Automobile Magazine: http://www.automobilemag.com/green/reviews...brid/index.html AutoInsane http://www.autoinsane.com/2009/03/20/revie...-fusion-hybrid/
  3. Sorry to hear that, but it's bound to get scheduled soon. I'm similarly dismayed that quite a few people who ordered after I did are getting theirs sooner. But then I think of it this way: any kinks or problems should be worked out by the time it gets built. B)
  4. Anyone know much about the antenna on the 2010 Fusion/Milan? From all the pics I've seen, I'm guessing the antenna probably needs to be unscrewed and removed before washing the car (I don't typically use automatic car washes, but say you're on a long road trip and really need a wash...I'm thinking that might mangle the extended antenna.). Also, any idea why the antenna is as long as it is? It's not a complaint, but I'm curious if it's just for better reception or if there's another reason it extends so far out. I've noticed some other carmakers are doing the same thing with longer antennas.
  5. I live in Houston, which I read is one of the high-allocation "hot spots" for the hybrid models. I bet you'll hear something soon since you placed your order so early. Check with your dealer each Friday until you find out.
  6. Based on date of possession, they will at least qualify for the $1,700 tax credit until Sept. 30. I'm still holding out hope that the IRS will accept the order date for the credit to get the full $3400.
  7. Also, according to my dealer, my FFH order has a VIN and is now scheduled for production in late April. It should arrive at the dealer sometime in May. My order: Fusion Hybrid Sterling Gray Leather Seating Charcoal Black 502A Rapid Spec Ordered: 1/9/09
  8. 2010 Ford Fusion/Mercury Milan Hybrids are now shipping to dealers, according to AutoblogGreen: http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/03/15/20...-max-tax-credi/ I assume the same holds true for the ICE Fusions/Milans. Hopefully that means we'll get a chance for a test drive soon!
  9. 8. Left Lane News More of an overview than a thorough review. But they do achieve "42.9 mpg over a 40 mile route." http://www.leftlanenews.com/ford-fusion-hybrid-review.html
  10. It seems like the FFH/MMH have received quite a few reviews over the last few months. I thought it might be nice to collect some of those reviews in one thread for those interested who may have missed some of them. 1. CleanMPG This reviewer gets 65 mpg driving 15.3 miles in 37 degree weather! http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19886 He has a few nags, some justified, but others which either contradict other reviews or are just common sense. But this is probably the most real-world and detailed of all the reviews I've seen so far. Some comments I have: - He comments that the MMH has more road noise than the Prius and is on par with the Saturn Aura for noise. But it's worth noting that many other review have commented on just how quiet the FFH/MMH are. C&D even rated the FFH the quietest at full throttle & second quietest at 70 mph when compared to the Camry/Altima/Malibu hybrids. - He complained that gas spilled out of the Easy Fuel Capless filler when he overfilled the tank beyond the first click. Yet this is by design -- you're not supposed to overfill the tank with the capless filler. - I happen to partly agree with the reviewer on the fuel tank access door. I wish Ford would have at least used a flush-mounted, pop-in, pop-out door like on the Chevy Malibu and Saturn Aura, as it looks much nicer and classier. The extended lip fuel door Ford still uses is kind of old school and tacky on a car of this class, in my opinion. He also has some interesting comments on the ignition process that are worth reading up on. Overall a good real-world review. 2. Autoblog Not the most detailed review, but it's a good overview and shows commendable performance of the electronic stability control and really smooth transition between ICE and EV mode. http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/10/review-...y-milan-hybrid/ Some quotes: "Cruising on the highway with the radio off, the Milan is remarkably free of wind or road noise " "It has the smoothest operation of any of the systems that have passed through the AutoblogGreen Garage" "The navigation and telematics is easily the best we've tried from any automaker" 3. LA Times Short but sweet. The reviewer achieves 52 mpg driving in LA traffic. http://articles.latimes.com/2008/dec/19/business/fi-neil19 4. Car&Driver I figure most of you have already seen this roundup where the FFH trounces the Malibu, Altima, and Camry hybrids. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/compar...comparison_test 5. USA Today James Healey compares the FFH to a $107,000 car ("It's so well-done that you have to look to the $107,000 Lexus LS 600h hybrid to come close.") 2010 Ford Fusion is best gas-electric hybrid yet http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/review...on-hybrid_N.htm 6. MotorTrend First Drive: 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/sedans...rive/index.html Comparison: 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid vs 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/altern...brid/index.html 7. Edmunds Last but not least, this is one of the reviews sells the idea that a hybrid can actually be fun to drive! (But only if it's a Fusion/Milan Hybrid). "... the Ford Fusion Hybrid is probably the best driving hybrid sedan on the market." "...the Fusion delivered "a perfectly respectable handling performance."" 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid Full Test http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drive...rticleId=138726
  11. I would've considered a bluish color, but I just thought the ice blue was too boring. Unfortunately there's no red option for the hybrid. I ended up going with the sterling gray for mine, partly because I figure it's less likely to show road dirt :P
  12. The site doesn't show the 2010 Milans in all the colors yet. I was thinking the greenish tint kind of reflected the fact that it's a "green" vehicle. But to each his own.
  13. Is it the Atlantis Green you ordered? This is the best picture I could find. Unfortunately there's a lot of unwanted reflection in this picture. The color looks better in real daylight, kind if like a shade of black with a tint of green.
  14. You know, I didn't even think about the moonroof reducing headroom. I hope it's not a problem being that I'm just over 6'. I was indifferent towards getting the moonroof as I hardly us the one I have now, but it was the only way to get everything I wanted...
  15. At least you have the consolation that your car has been built . Those of us who've ordered the hybrid model have even less information to go by, just wide-ranging estimates (once approved) that it will be built sometime between April and October. I agree that it seems a little odd to be running ads on TV when the car is nowhere near showrooms. For the hybrid, it seems like Ford wants to queue up as many orders as it possibly can to make sure it sells every FFH that it manufactures. I suppose this creates the illusion that the vehicle is in really high demand, since there won't be many unsold units floating around in dealers lots. The only problem IMO is the lack of production/delivery info for those of us who already ordered. All this lack of info does is give customers more opportunity to check out the competition and potentially back-out of an order. Give me a good estimate (at least down to the build month) and I will be fine, but the uncertainty is really killing my enthusiasm. Maybe by the end of March, once the FFH retail order scheduling program ends, I will finally discover when mine will be built. I just hope that ordering in January means it gets built in April, and not October!
  16. I think if you can wait a month or two you might have better luck. The dealers will probably have more leverage once they have ample supply on their lots. It may be blasphemy for me to say this on this forum, but I do like the new Malibu. I rented one last week and was impressed, even though it was just the base model. Nicer than the Saturn Aura, which I've also rented recently, even though they're based on the same platform. I think the 2010 Fusion will outclass both of them, but still, I'm glad to see the domestics finally putting out competitive and compelling cars. Too bad the Malibu Hybrid is such a dud. Also, I owned an Accord years ago, and it was a nice, albeit very weak car. However, I don't think I could get over the looks of the latest revision of the Accord. Honda and Toyota seem to be going for uglier and more boring designs while Ford is getting more and more exciting.
  17. My dealer was able to check in his computer. All it really means is that the order will be built. The production date is not scheduled yet, but he said the production window is between April and October. It kind of threw me off when I heard the October date, but I assume that's just a worst-case scenario. I would expect those of us getting these early orders in will have our FFHs sooner.
  18. So, with the new Retail Order Scheduling Program, has anyone received a production build date for their Fusion/Milan Hybrid? Mine is approved and verified, but it has not been scheduled yet. I know of some dealers who already have stock orders that have been built, but none with the options and color I want.
  19. Many of the parts are built in the U.S. and shipped to the production site. The higher-paying jobs in development and design are 100% U.S based. The profits go into our markets, and the taxes are paid to our government rather than that of another country.
  20. Interesting, good eye. I would venture to guess that Ford decided the change would help differentiate the Sport from the other models, like it or not. But it's anyone's guess. The ones someone posted on ebay while back did have the chrome accent. Here's the Autoblog test unit without the chrome.
  21. For those that haven't seen it, here is a good video overview of the FFH recorded yesterday with the product manager and some of the developers. Be prepared, it's about 30 minutes long... http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/1208570
  22. The hybrid battery sits between the back seat and the trunk. It does take up trunk space, and it also makes the back seat space slightly smaller (you lose half an inch of leg room, so it's probably not noticeable). Overall, the trunk space is 11.8 cubic feet in the hybrid, vs 16.5 in the regular 2010 Fusion. It still looks adequate and quite usable for several large pieces of luggage as long as they're stored flat and horizontally. Really, the only downside I see is the loss of pass-though for longer items, but it's a small tradeoff in my opinion, as I rarely use that feature in my current car. Here is a picture of the Fusion Hybrid trunk (11.8 cubic feet): Of course, I don't think most people buy cars based primarily on the trunk space, but it's good to see that the FFH bests the main hybrid competitors: Here is a pic of the Toyota Camry Hybrid trunk, which is over a square foot smaller at 10.6 cubic feet: The Nissan Altima hybrid smaller yet, at 9.1 cubic feet: Also for comparison, here is the last gen Fusion trunk w/ liner if trunk space really is a major concern (I couldn't find any pics of the 2010 trunk except the hybrid): http://www.weathertech.com/store/mvproduct...3&Year=2009
  23. Good to hear and congrats on your choice. I think a lot of people are looking forward to getting their hands on the 2010 Fusion. Your dealer should be able to quickly look up the info and place an order. Or at least mine was; even though it was the dealer's first customer order for the new model, he was extremely helpful with the order process. You might talk to another salesperson or go to another dealer if you don't have any luck. You could even print out the order guide posted in this forum and show it to the salesperson. ;-).
  24. Based on what I read on another forum, Detroit is not in one of the regions where Ford is prioritizing their hybrid allocation. If the post (linked below) is correct, Ford is prioritizing allocation based on cities and regions where demand will be highest (i.e. - where hybrid cars are already selling strongly). The list looks like it also includes non-attainment zones that have higher levels of ground-level ozone (like parts of California and Texas), which makes sense since the impact of replacing pure ICE vehicles with hybrid/low emissions vehicles is more critical. It looks like other areas will be allocated by quarterly random drawings, so it may be difficult to find one in Detroit. I don't know if it would help, but based on that info, you may have better luck if you ordered from a Chicago-based dealer, since they appear to be on the hybrid priority list. Again, this is all based on some random post, so take it for what it's worth... http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/f12/201...tml#post1601280
  25. So if you ordered in advance, they will honor the price quoted when ordering? I hope Ford is successful with the new Fusion. But (my opinion), it may be a little early to be asking $1000 over sticker price for the hybrid. I figure that either gas prices will need to increase dramatically, or the economy will need to rebound for that to work. I see risk in this, especially when Toyota is doing the opposite, and offering $1500 rebates on the Camry Hybrid, which is already cheaper to begin with. It may not be as good a car, but at some point the price differential gets hard to justify. Not that I would ever buy a Camry :boring: , but it's the closest competitor to the FFH. Still, I hope everything works out so the Fusion (in all variations) is wildly successful and knocks the Camry or Accord of their perch. Just don't try that $1000 over sticker on me, after ordering and waiting patiently for many months!!!
