  1. I was informed today that I have been requested/er, ordered back to AAI beginning this Monday, Oct 3. Has anyone else had this happen to them, and is there a reason for this like, well, whatever. It was quite out of the blue. Thought I had a little time left. Please share your thoughts, and no, I'm not whining.... :shades:

I too, have been sent back. They are not using seniority to send people back, looks like they are picking and choosing who they are sending. Something is going on, I heard they were not going to tell us until Friday before we left, so no one would know they are keeping their buddies.

  2. Ford has no reason to post company wide. Why would they pay moving expenses to somebody that is working?

IMHO, they will post at the closing plants and hire second tier workers if they don't get enough people.

They have lots of people in Michigan that still need permanent jobs due to plants that have been reduced; therefore any plant that has people working at ACH plants temporarily will be getting postings. I would expect if they still have people that need jobs in Michigan that other Michigan plants will get postings as well.

  3. He is a bargaining rep and if he gets moved up he will do a great job. You obviously do not know is dad or you would know that he is a respectable person! Pretty sure Brandon can stand on his own two feet!

I agree. I am also a light blue at Saline, but haven't had as issue with the union. Brandon has always answered any questions I have had and is a highly intelligent guy from my experience. If he does go to International, good for him, he will do an excellent job!! I think all those complaining just need to realize you are not in the same plant where you came from and each plant runs things differently, and change is difficult. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to come to Saline and absolutely love my job there.

  4. We are putting up a wall so that no one can transfer in, period!! Our local has already put in local safeguards to protect us from the intrusion of transfers. We have as a local confered with international and they agreed to protect our status from outsiders. So look elsewhere for your transfers. Go to Michigan.

Looks like it has been confirmed that this "rumor" is just that!!!! Postings are now up for LAP for skilled trades, and soon are coming production postings.

I am sure your international reps will be thanking you for wasting there time, when they get flooded with calls pertaining to this made up rumor. These people have a contract to negotiate and really don't have time for this crap. If your union brothers and sisters are on ILO and LAP has openings you should welcome them in.

  6. Ford did not get two main conditions the other two got , 1.restrictions on the right to strike 2. pay freeze on entry level workers until 2015.

UAW has not gone on strike nationally against Ford since 1976, do they really believe it will happen next year ?

Then there is the entry level pay freeze, again will there really be a need to 8 thousand new workers in the next 5 years ? i highly doubt either case.

All the yearly/daily gains where huge the company got back; the 10 minutes extra production time from the loss of break time and pay raise loss /or the bonus that where to be in lieu of those pay raises have saved the company millions.

I totally disagree that 8,000 new workers will not be needed in 5 years. You must consider we are at one of the lowest downturns history, production levels are at one of the lowest ever. Also some plants outside Michigan have temporary workers that are needed, but haven't been offically hired like KC, Minnesota and Chicago. 5 years is a long period of time and I expect that Ford does plan on increasing production at many plants along with introducing new products, and possibly continuing buyouts to drop labor costs, all of these will increase the likelyhood of Ford needing 8,000 additional workers. I would never vote to give up the cap on two-tier employees, it is playing with fire, if we do.

  7. I have a question if anyone can help. Are there still quite a few people layoff in the Michigan zone? If so about how many? And why would they post job openings in out of zone plants for Dearborn Rouge site if there still is workers on ILO?

Not sure if you are up to date with what has taken place in Michigan, so here is the story. The union has done a great job making sure that everyone is working and not on ILO. In order to do this they have allowed people to bid to two parts plants, Saline and Sheldon Rd, as a temporary assignment until jobs become available for them, or until they are needed at their home plant. Not sure the exact number of people currently working at this temporary placement, but if I were to guess about 1000 to 1200. So most likely there is no one or very few people in Michigan on ILO, due to this.

  8. Working 10-12hrs per day, who the phuck would return to AAI if they did a survey? Will have to pry these guys from the plant!

I don't know where you get your info, but I work at Saline and over half the plant is on short work week. There are select areas that work overtime like F150 and Taurus areas, but that is not the majority of the plant. I wish I was working those kind of hours. It depends where you land in the plant as to if you will be working overtime or not. Therefore you would be surprised to how many people do what to go back to their home plants.

  9. This is my opinion, and not by any means a for sure answer.

Contractually, I would think all should have to be returned for an ILO to take place. Technically they only loaned out because they had excess of people. Then they could repost for saline openings for the newly laid off people by seniority. That being said it would create quite a mess at Saline while the moving of people takes place. I think the logical step to take is to let the people with higher than 93(or whatever the cutoff date is) stay at Saline. This would minimize the jumbling around to some extent. and also keep a few more people working at AAI. All who would not make the cut would then have to rebid to fill the openings at Saline or Sheldon Road. I don't see the Union allowing someone from AAI with less seniority working at Saline while higher seniority is laid off. Lots of time between now and July, don't sweat it just yet. In the end I think they will agree somewhat to what I have stated about letting 93 or higher stay on Loan.

The Saline posting was put up for everyone to sign for whether they were working or on ILO, and senority was the determining factor. Some chose to sign and go, while others did not. To make those that signed and went come back to AAI to be laid off because others that did not sign now want those jobs is really unfair. It would be like someone at Dearborn with higher senority now saying they want to go and bump someone from their plant back, or someone saying oops I made wrong choice so now I want to take the bid to Dearborn that was offered in Dec of 2008, and bump someone with lower senority back to AAI, or someone who went to Sheldon now saying I would rather be in Saline. Everyone had the chance to bid for Saline and Sheldon, and now that a shift is cut at AAI, people are seeing they made wrong choice. That is life one must live with the choices you make. If anyone has rights to come into Saline and Sheldon, it is those that signed the postings and were never taken.

  10. Waynegirl the worst case scenario would be for people like you useing up all your SUB and then all your TAP, after that you would be able to excercise your Zone 1 bump rights.

All is not lost just hang in there and hopefully you and many like you, with lower seniority people working while you all are out will come back before you have to exercise that option..... but it is there if needed.

Hang in there, things will get better, and hopefully sooner than later.

  11. I've been off work and didn't see any paperwork posted on this. Are we to claim Memorial Day (25th), when filing for the second down week at AAI? Are the reported earnings 28.58 x 8 = $228.64 correct? I don't think shift premium counts because we didn't work. It's been awhile since we've collected unemployment during a holiday week, so I just want to make sure. Everyone at AAI enjoy the 2 weeks off and get ready for the 4-10's when we return on June 1! Thanks.

There was paperwork posted, that we should claim $229.

  12. Like I said before AN arbitrator for your vote dumb asses. You guys are really that freaking ignorant. SEE CAN YOU READ THIS DUMBSHIT! You lose your right to vote meaning if an agreement cant be reached then it goes to the arbitrator who will decide whats best for the company to remain profitable. Sounds familiar yet? Maybe I should post my resume so you can see just who the hell you are dealing with. I need you guys to really try and pay attention to what im trying to learn ya. Because when it comes to pass you will know that THE TRUTH tried to give you an heads up. POSITION POSITION POSITION. YOu guys are not looking far enough into the future.

When you call people names such as "dumb asses", you will not recieve any respect for your opinion. Show respect to get respect, it is that easy.

  13. DTP is Bill Ford's pet place, that's true.

The thing is that DTP can't be secure- no one is. Ford doesn't care what the newest plant is or what the flexibility is, they turn it into a museum if they see fit.

I don't know where you work , but it must not be Michigan because everyone knows that DTP will be the last one standing. It is already a museum, plus a factory.

  14. I haven't found an answer on the question of half days. Do you stay an hour after lunch with a first half or do you come in an hour after lunch for second half? :reading: :reading:

I haven't heard much about the half day, but the start times will be changing to 6 am and 6pm, and the break times too, so I would hope that the lunch time would be after 5 hours.

  15. Standup I work at AAI also Jon did alot of good for the membership, you talk about back stabbers Cindy Maynard and Steve Munafo are the worst AAI they teamed up with the current Chairman to get elected and turned on him almost immediately after the election you know that's true. Jon is better than anyone on the current Bargaining Committee here at AAI, he ran For President last election if he would have run for Bargaining Committee or Chairman he would have won, he would not give up the farm or let John Savona dictate to them like our current Bargaining Committee does.

I agree with you about Cindy and Steve, but the Saline people really don't care about them, but Jon is right there with these too, in my opinion, and that is why he lost the last couple elections, he burned too many bridges at AAI.

  16. To Saline workers with all of the people comming into your plant you have got some real Unionist's and former union officials from many local plants , I reccomend that you look at them closley I hear your elections are soon comming up. I wish Jon Snyder was in office now the committee needs his expierence to help the membership through these tough times, from what I hear he is working on thr Mustang IP line I always voted for him he was a very good for the membership, he has alot of fight for what is right and alot of expierence and knowledge. The other person to look at is Dave Perez He has been a district rep he was on the execuetive board at Local 3000 and has a good union heart I hear he works somewhere in the Mustang door panel line. This is just a suggestion go talk with them get to know them they will be there if you need them just my two cents.

I currently work at AAI, and would not recommend anyone voting for these two. Both lost last election and that is why they are at Saline, to try and start over where no one knows them. Jon can't be trusted and will stab anyone in the back, so be where. They lost for alot of reasons, so make sure you ask questions, there will be AAI people at Saline that will tell you the same. Good Luck Saline, Glad they are gone.

  17. I don't think this was a bluff....

Just so you know the last time I was on a picket line was in 1989, my third strike. Strike pay was $45 a week....

I think that last year when we turned a small profit in the first quarter(I think it was the first quarter) Ford was testing the trigger they are refusing to pull. I believe to a point we are artifically suppressed. The hybrid Escape is a perfect example, there's a waiting list at every dealer for this ride. Problem is no batterys...we get them from Toyota....That's why we only have a 16% market share in the hybrid segment...People wouldn't even care about the Prius if our hybrid Escape were truely available.....

What I do think this was, was the biggest wholesale grab by management in the history of the labor movement....

Shame on our bargaining team for coming to the table feeling so weak....

You want to talk about emerging markets....China sales are down from their big what, 230,000 units in one year.....Want to know why....Because that's all the people in that country that can afford to buy a car....everywhere else in the world they don't pay the workers enough to afford to buy what they build...

How does that even come close to the north american market???? They say next year N. America will produce around 10 million units....Mid 1980's levels....Is China or Russia even coming close???? .....

No I think Ford Motor wants to stay in business in N. America.... I think we can draw a straight line between the loss of market share in N. America to the loss of jobs....Or in other words, If we aren't building it we, aren't buying it.... I'm talking seperations, buyouts, and their family members....

I think this new language goes too far and is a bad deal for us and our struggle for labor...for middle class America. I think it falls way short of protecting our retirees.... And I'm truely disappointed that it passed at Sterling....

Do you even work at Sterling??? Don't compare us to American Axle.... They don't manufacture the highest quality gear sets in the world....We do!!! They don't move more weight through their heat treats every year than anyone else in the world!!! WE DO !!!!! We are a single point supplier to Ford and should have sent the message to IUAW and Ford that they could have done better than this....

It's not like everyone wasn't prepared to give something up.... But this goes to far.....

The work Sterling is going to get, is the work they were planning on sending in anyway.....

Even with this round of give backs.... Ford won't let their business take off until right before we go to the bargaining table in 2011... they'll make a profit in 2011.... But we'll be able to look forward to 12 years of wage freeze instead of the eight we're already living with....

Tell me... how many picket lines have you been on????

The brothers and sisters were making $5 dollars a day... More than anyone else at the time.... Why did they need to organize???? Because they needed to... That's why.... Sometimes the right thing to do is make a stand and fight for the American dream and social justice..... They created a middle class... It's our job to protect it,and I think we missed an opportunity to do just that....

I understand UNIONISM..... I've been supported by it and lived it my whole life.... And I've done my fair share of plowing the road for people like you who like to feel like you're taking care of everyone else....

You've got your opinion and I've got mine.....

    SOLIDARITY

    nicely said.

  18. Sterling Axle passes the Modifications by 60% to 40% today. The explaination was way better than that shitty flyer they handed out.

I suggest to everyone who has not voted yet to listen to the explaination before you vote. There are way too many untrue rumors flying around. Most of the people who voted NO at Sterling did not listen to the explaination or ask questions they just came to vote with thier anger.

I will not tell you how to vote but I suggest you to listen before you choose because it changed my vote today!

You do know at each meeting they are there to sell you this agreement. It is marketing!!! You should have done your own research, to know that Ford will not will go bankrupt in the next year, and they are trying to use Ford as a model for the other companies, but if I were the other companies, if this passes, I would expect at least twice the concessions since they are truly in trouble right now. I think you screwed your union bros at GM and Chrysler.

  19. Lol. DTP may not be able to make vanilla yet, but don't count them out. They are still the most flexible assembly plant in the Ford system.

DTP is Ford's baby and they will be around long after KC is gone, no matter how great KC quality is. Closing plants in not based on quality, just ask Wixom, St. Louis, New Jersey.

  20. Right now the UAW Ford GM and Chrysler are doing everything they can to satisfy the government in showing cost savings.

What the UAW has presented us is a concession but this is the best they could do considering these tough times.

If we don’t pass this modification the companies will collapse.

They will certainly use a structured bankruptcy.

    What does this mean?

We are at the mercy of a bankruptcy judge

Retirees will get 30 cents for every dollar owed of their pension.

    We will lose sub pay

Ford will not go into bankruptcy in the next 12 months we do have time. You need to look up Ford's annual reports. They have axcess to $24 billion, which will get them probably through 2010. You are correct if bankruptcy happens we do loose everything, but if GM and Chrylser go into bankruptcy, that will not push Ford into it. Yes some suppliers will go under also, but some will survive and Ford has back-up suppliers that can pick up the slack. This is simple economics. Do not let people scare you into making a yes vote, until you do all the research.

    We will lose TAP

We will lose and have to pay for health care.

    Pay for full prescriptions

Our wages will be cut in half

    Vacation time gone

    Personal days gone

    No grievance procedure

    No severance

    No buy outs

    Plant closings

    Layoffs

    Etc

    Etc

    Etc

Once bankruptcy happens there is no more bargaining, we get what the judge rules.

    Don’t be a fool

    Vote yes

  21. Have you been watching TV & reading the paper? The public hates that UAW members get anything more than state unemployment when on layoff. They want it gone. If IUAW started bargaining with GM or Chrysler they definitely would have pushed to have nothing more than state unemployment. When it is gone, you are done. This is a good deal when you look at it that way. +20 years gets 52 weeks of SUB then another 52 weeks at 50%. Find me another company where you can get that.

I don't know why everyone cares what the public thinks about us so much, whether we pass this or not, they will not like us any more or less. Most of the public has no idea what they are talking about and feed off the press. This SUB deal is bad, the people who will be on the streets first have the least amount of time, and those who will still be working and will not need the SUB have the most. The IUAW have created another way to divide us as union brothers/sisters by not giving everyone equal amounts. In the past our brothers/sisters fought to get what we have, not to have it all thrown away. It is a sad day for the unions.

  22. Yes VOTE NO and what is the alternative to that?????Use your damn heads, this is not the first time the UAW has had concessions, oh and BTW we bounced back fine after those concessions. Lets vote no and leave it the hands of someone else, that makes a lot of sense. This agreement should protect all until 2011 when the recession is expected to end, as someone said, vote based on everyone, not just you.

You really need to do your homework. I suggest you look up on Ford's company website and look at their annual reports. As of Dec 2008, they have $24 Billion, and they are going through alot of cash, but they are not going bankrupt anytime soon, at least not the next year, as which is not the case for the other 2 companies. We have lost close to 50,000 Ford-UAW workers since Dec 2005. We need to stand up and say no, not to say that maybe next year, if things don't impove that we will need to take concessions, but let's not give before we have to. Don't believe what you hear, until you do your homework.
