  2. The US caving in and continuing with tax cuts shows they cant make the public take its medicine,

there is no way that deficit will come down unless everyone in the country takes responsibility.

Amazing how UK's politicians can band together and make things happen, the cynic in me says

that's the difference between a "politician" and an elected member representing a constituency

and doing good for the greater community. The self interest in American politics is staggering.

You don't have to be a socialist to do the right thing, all it takes is to be a good capitalist

and realize that impoverished workers are bad for business, they can't buy your products.

The way out of this is the opposite to most people's notions, the money cycle has to be sped up not down

and to do that you need inflation - raise taxes, allow pay raises and let's get people back to work and to

start buying American made products again. That would do far more to stimulate the economy than just

    throwing money at the problem.

I only hope some people read my post in the proper light and take it a step further...

The UK politicians are making things happen by cutting their spending!

  3. The current F-250 Superduty makes no sense to me. Who needs a 3/4 ton truck because they feel a 1 ton is just too much truck? What is the difference between an F-250 and F-350 besides an extra leaf spring?

The F-250 can become the current F-150. Design a new F-150 that is smaller than the current F-150, but larger than the ranger.

  4. I seriously doubt Ford would go this route. I bet they are through using a third party supplier for diesel engines after the Navistar fiasco.

Chrysler will pay $2 billion to its secured creditors. Its unsecured creditors, who are mainly parts suppliers and the BBDO Detroit advertising agency, may be paid more immediately in some cases but have no guarantee of any payments. Salaried employees might or might not be ordered to take two weeks off without pay.

The top unsecured debtor is Ohio Module Manufacturing, a Hyundai division which supplies Jeep components, and is owed $70 million. Ad agency BBDO Detroit was at #2, with $58 million owed. Many of the top ten debtors are recognizeable to Chrysler fans - Johnson Controls (interior parts), Continental Automotive (electronics, ABS, brakes, and more), Cummins[/b], Visteon, New Process, and Denso. Also included are Comau of Michigan and Germersheim Spare Parts of Germany.

If the Bankruptcy judge throws out the contract between Cummins and Chrysler, would that open the door for a possible contract between Ford and Cummins?

  5. That is false. Diesel requires fractional distillation just like gasoline. They both start as crude oil and go through the same process. The only difference is that diesel requires to be heated to 300 degrees c. to be distilled. Gasoline only needs to be heated to 150 degrees c. As well gasoline is both lighter and thinner. It can be transported and pipelined easier. It is imposible to produce diesel from crude oil without producing gasoline first. You better have a use for the gasoline.

While diesel engines can burn everything from bunker sea oil to kerosene, I would not try to burn them all in the same engine. Different engines require a fuel with different flash points. Don't try to burn gasoline in a diesel engine. Don't just burn straight vegetable oil as bio-diesel. It must be process with Alcohol to remove the glycerol from the fuel. So much for reduced refining.

It is much more difficult to remove sulfur from diesel than form gasolne. I don't know why. It has something to do with the higher boiling temperature of diesel.

All diesel engines are required to have a water filter. They are much more vulnerable to dirty and wet contaminants than gas engines.

Ford would be making a big mistake if they do not offer a diesel in the F-150. The Rentech process "converts synthesis gas from biomass and fossil resources into hydrocarbons that are subsequently processed and upgraded into ultra-clean synthetic fuels and specialty waxes and chemicals. All fuels produced by the Rentech Process can be distributed and used in existing infrastructure including pipelines and engines and are cleaner burning than traditional petroleum-derived fuels." One of those synthetic fuels will be ultra low-sulfur diesel with a sulfur content below 1 ppm. The website is: http://www.rentechinc.com/rentechProcess.php
