  1. I hear you. I had it on tonight on the way home and it actually did a good job. I left it on manual at 60 and it cooled down nicely. Even when the temperature got to 97 outside, it was a little uncomfortable but not bad. It is due to cool down anyway and I think it will be fine. I guess that I'm just going through learning phase with the different system. Thanks for the reply.
  2. I bought a 2010 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer and got the Electronic Climate Control. It has worked great, but over the weekend it was 100 degrees on my way home. I had the system set to 60 degrees on manual and the fan just one notch above base. it didn't seem to be really cooling off the truck. I also have the rear air in it and it was on as cold as it could go. It just didn't seem to keep the truck that cool. I then decided to switch to auto and turn the thermostat to about 70 degrees, because I didn't want it to cool all the way to 60. The fan cranked up and I could feel the cold air cooling down the truck. I kept it around 68 to 70, but it just didn't seem to keep the truck as cool as I thought it should. The fan ran fast almost the whole way home. When I got close to home, I decided to go back to manual and set it at 60 and set the fan to one above base and it just didn't seem to be able to keep the truck cool/cold. I had a suitcase in the very back of the truck and when I emptied it when I got home, some of the cloths felt very warm, like they weren't getting cooled. I had a 2002 Explorer with manual controls and that kept me very cool and comfortable and I never really had to turn the fan up. So I'm wondering if someone else has had this type of problem and if so, what was your solution? Is the compressor bad or is it that the electronic climate control works completely differently than the manual does? I'm looking for an answer because I believe that it's going to be a long hot summer here in DC and I want to be able to stay cool. Thanks.
  3. Actually no. I just happen to notice it on my way home on Wednesday evening and I had my phone with me and so I took the picture. When I noticed it, I just couldn't pass it up :-D
  4. Just an interesting photo of my odometer that I got on 16 Jun 2010
  5. On Facebook today (15 Jun 2010), I was informed that the New Explorer will be revealed in July 2010. So it is coming. Really can't wait to see what it looks like.
  6. I'm not a Ford employee, but according to the window sticker it was built on 15 Apr 2010. Where it is in shipping, I don't have that information.
  7. Your car is due to built on 06 May 2010. Here is a link for your window sticker. I don't have any other information than this.
  8. Your car was built on 05 April 2010. Now about shipping and other stuff, I don't have that information.

  10. I'm not a Ford employee, but it is scheduled to be built on 13 April 2010. Here is the window sticker Link. Looks like it will be a nice ride. Enjoy it when it comes.
  11. Here is a thread where Ice-capades put out the Rapid Specs on the Expedition. You can look at that and see what additions are added to the King Ranch, compared to the Limited. So here is the link
  12. It depends on which model you decide on. If you get the XLT, the third row is an option. If you go Eddie Bauer a manual third row is standard and if you go Limited a power third row is standard. For me I went with the Eddie Bauer because I wanted the V8 engine and that and the Limited are the only two version that the 8 cylinder comes in. So I got the third row, but what I do is keep it folded down, so it looks like I got no third row. Also if you want rear air then you will automatically get the third row seats. I like the rear air, so I had to get the third row. Also remembering back to the pictures, they remind me more of a BMW X5. It also kind of looks like an Edge, just a bit more squarer. I'm really going to hold off until the full unveiling and then go from there.
  13. Mark, I'm surprised that you don't have access to that information. When I ordered a 2010 Explorer, I know wrong forum, but I got my VIN from my dealership (Saleman). I was also able to get a build week from them and then I followed the track of at least the windows sticker on-line. They had an idea of when it was due at the dealership. The window sticker can be found here, just replace the VIN number with the VIN number you get for the Nav. I hope this helps.
  14. Here is a thread about someone ordering a 2009 Expedition http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/33811-just-picked-up-09expy%3B-it-sux/
  15. About 2 to 3 weeks before build, you should be able to retrieve your window sticker at Link Hope this helps.
  16. Here is the link for your window sticker. It looks like it is scheduled to be built on 02 Mar 2010. I don't have any idea on shipping after that, as I am not a Ford Employee. Hope this helps.
  17. This won't kill the company, but I believe it has hurt their reputation. I think people will realize that Toyota isn't the "perfect" car anymore. I believe that the going public will start shopping around and really take a closer look at what Toyota is producing and make sure it is still a good quality car.
  18. I have looked over this thread and I think Ford will gain a bit, but not much. However, I think Toyota's reputation has gotten a serious tarnish now, because of the recall, the fuel pedal problem and now the brakes on the Prius. Their squeaky clean and "perfect" quality cars now have flaws in them. This will hopefully make people see all other car companies as possibly places to purchase a vehicle. Does this mean that they will go to Ford, I don't think so, but they might consider it if they do their homework and read the reviews. I believe that now that Toyota is having issues, in a way their true colors are coming out. As long as things were going well and they were on top, you heard nothing from them, but put a bit of trails in their lives, then they start complaining about all the negative press they are getting. I'm sorry to say, it's like as long as the kid is getting what he wants, he is happy, but as soon as he doesn't get his way and things go bad, then he screams bloody murder and I have been wronged. So people will by what they want and if they don't feel safe in a Toyota anymore, than there are many other car manufacturers out there. They can shop around and find a car that suits there needs and fancy. I personally am a Ford person. I have driven one foreign car and that was a 1970 VW Beetle, the original one. Then my other cars were a 1984 Chevy Cavalier, which I traded in when it started giving me electrical problems. Since then I have own 3 Ford Explorers, a 1994, 2002 and now a 2010. All three of these trucks have been terrific. In fact all are still on the road. My nephew has one, my brother-in-law has another and I got the third. So far the 1994, 2002 have over 160,000 miles and are still going strong. I keep my trucks up. I don't abuse them and maintain them. So it will be interesting to see the ripple effect of the recall with Toyota and how it's problem will show up in the rest of the car industry.
  19. I currently have an Eddie Bauer Explorer with a 4.6 L V-8 and 6-speed transmission. I use it as a commuter truck and I'm averaging about 15.5 to 6 miles per gallon. This is a mix of short highway driving and stop and go traffic. When I drove it to my sister's house, I was able to set the cruise control on at 65 mph and I was getting 19.5 miles to the gallon based on the figures on the display panel. I think the truck is rated at 19 on the highway, so I was very happy and pleased with the number. For me, I went with the V8 for two reason. One is that I wanted to have the power and to know that it is there when needed. Second because I felt like the V8 could handle the weight of the truck better and not have to work so hard to maintain speed or get the truck moving. I also didn't want to feel like I had a truck that just got me from point "A" to "B." I want to have fun doing it. So if I keep my foot out of it, it does ok, but I know that I have the power when I need it.
  20. Based on what I have heard from this site and a few things that I have read, that the Sport Trak will end it run when the Explorer moves to unibody and moves from Kentucky to the Chicago assembly plant. The Mercury Mountaineer will also be laid to rest at that time. Here is an article about the upcoming changes at Ford. It was written in July 2009.
  21. If Ford puts the Explorer on a diet then any of these engines should be fine and perhaps the 3.5 Ecoboost V6 would make the truck "fun" to drive. It should also help the gas mileage. I found for me, that the current 4.0L V6 is powered ok for the truck if you like to have a "family" type of truck, which in my book means a truck that will get going, but as I put it won't get out of its own shadow. When I purchase a vehicle, I want a care or truck that will move when I ask it to. I also figure that with the weight of the current Explorer that a V8 works a lot easier to keep the truck moving, so it will use less fuel to do so. To me the V6 will have to work harder to keep the truck moving, which in turns causes it to use more fuel. So lower the weight and keep the horsepower/torque at the same level or increase it should be a good thing for the truck.
  22. Have you tried looking at vast.com or Autotrader.com? If not they are great places to begin.
  23. I don't work for Ford, but here is your Window Sticker. It says that your truck was built on 03 Dec 2009. Now where it is in shipping, I don't have a clue and don't have a way to find out that information.
  24. I just took my truck in for its 5,000 mile check up and everything is ok. I asked the salesman, who I bought the truck from and his manager, and they both said that they were very busy for the month. They had a 2010 Explorer Limited in the customer delivery area that was being ready to be sold. So things look good and the new year has seemed to start off well.
  25. Personally on a full size pickup it should have the full 8' bed. The short bed just make the truck look small. Personally I would ask myself what am I going to be doing with this truck? Will I be caring a lot of payload and need the 8' bed so that I can carry 4x8 sheets of drywall or 2x4 or what every is needed at a job site. If you need that then you need the 8' bed. So what are you planning to haul and do with the truck will tell you which bed to get. Basically fit the truck to what you are going to do with it. Are you going to haul a trailer and so forth. So figure out what your needs will be and then that should make your decision for you.
