  1. Phil, I posted before I have a 2011 fusion sel 4cyl with the awful 635f transmsiion. My father rented a 2010 Fusion in Colorado for the Summer, the first was was recalled, I don't know what for. They replaced it with a new Fusion, after speaking with him he said both of the cars had the infamous transmission flares. This information only makes me more upset that Ford could sell these cars with these dangerous and garbage transmissions. Do yourself a favor and buy a vehicle with a proven track record and not media hype about how good their quality and reliability are. Also think of your resale value, these cars already have awful resale despite what their bs commercials say, and their only going to get worse when the inevitible widespread recall come for these vehicles. Tis will definitely be my last Ford vehicle, I traded in a 2008 Edge (awful transmission, not as bad and dangerous as the Fusion, also horrible airconditioner, before that 2000 Taurus Se ( dangerous visibilty problem anytime it rained), 1992 Mustang Gt conv my favorite one despite main seal leak after 100,000 miles. It seems that when you buy a Ford vehicle you have to settle for a vehicle with some serious issues as well as awful resale value across the board.
  2. Blazerdude, I agree that alot of cars do have issues, but the issue with the Fusion is a safety hazard. It amazes me that Ford didn't correct the widespread issues with the 6f35r transsmisions, I believe this is the same transmission that is in the Escape. I never had a new car that I'm nervous to pull out into traffic anytime the car sits for a few hours. I have around 1700 miles on the Fusion, and every time I drive the car after sitiing all night the car has the infamous flares, previously the car only did this twice, once almost getting me into a serious accident. The last couple of days the pos transmission shifts erractically when cold. It sucks having a new vehicle that has to be brought in for service and there doesn't seem to be a fix. I left my car overnight at Wayne Akers Ford in Lake Worth florida, and they said the car didn't act up and the car didn't have any codes. Thats what makes this problem so dangerous, the more I research this widespread problem, most people have the same problems even after getting a new or rebuilt transsmision., or a reflash. I challenge anyone to find a new car with a worse transsmision than the Fusion. The Hyundai Accent that I used overnight when my Fusion was in service had a way smoother and better operating transmission, as well as a much smoother idle, otherwise that car was a pos. Its a shame that Ford is on the road to hurting their current reputation by selling vehicles that are defective, and when all these issues with these garbage transmissions are fully realized, I'm sure these cars will have the infamous Ford resale value.
  3. Erich, I sympathise with you, I also unfortunately just leased a 2011 fusion sel with this defective transmison. I agree with everything you said, not only should every engineer responsible for this dangerous defective transmission be fired, their families should be forced to drive a vehicle with these awful transmissions. I have under 1600 miles on the vehicle, and I'm nervous to drive it. It sucks having a new car that you feel unsafe in. I tried merging into traffic after not driving the car for two days, and I almost got rearended, the car revved to redline with no acceleration until the car jolted into gear, sound familiar. It amazes me that consumer reports reccomends the Fusion with such a high number of transmission problems. I'm sure that these issues will have to be adressed soon, I'm sure that these transsmisions will result in serious injuries or death if they haven't already. I brought my car to the dealer and I left it overnight. Of course they couldn't duplicate the problem and they haven't heard of these transmission problems. I'm sure their told not to mention any problems to customers. I know there is a law firm investigating these transmissions in the Fusions, but it wouldn't hurt to contact them regarding your wifes escape being that it has the same defective transmission. The law firm's number is 866-981-4800, again they are investigating complaints about fusion transmissions, but again being they have the same garbage transmission it can't hurt to contact them.Good luck!
  4. Mettech, I have a 2011 fusion with 1500 miles, and I'm already starting to have transmission problems. I almost got killed pulling out of my development the other day. I pulled out into traffic after the car sat for two days. I pressed the accelerator about halfway and the car revved to almost redline and no acceleration the car finally jolted into gear before I almost got rearended. I brought the car to the dealer and left it overnight they couldn't duplicate, they said the transmission has no codes that say anything is wrong the service advisor said I would have to take the technician for a ride and he would have to experience this to diagnose the problem. There is already a law firm that is starting a thorough investigation of these dangerous and defective transmissions. If you go to Automobile magazine website go to forums and you will see the info an attorney has his contact info. I'm going to wait till I have another problem with the transmission before I contact them, hopefully I won't get injured or killed in the vehicle before that.
  5. Hi Phil B, I leased a 2011 fusion sel brand new in Feb. I'm already having transmission problems. I almost got killed pulling out of my development the other day. If I were you I wouldn't buy it until they put a different transmission in the car. The current transmission is a known dog, I think its not a question of if your going to have problems, its when. Of course the dealer hasn't heard of any problems, and when I brought the vehicle in all codes were normal, the service adviser said I would have the to take the tech for a ride and have him experience the problem. The scary part is that the Fusion is regarded as one of their better products. Please do some research before considering a fusion. I've had Ford's my whole life, and most likely this will be my last. I'm sorry I didn't get a nissan Altima, do some research and you'll see that they have very few problems compared to the fusion. Please do some research before considering a fusion, and consider that these cars will be worth nothing in a few years when these issues come out. There is already a lawfirm researching these widespread problems with these cars, look on the automobile forums.
  6. To Whom It May Concern, I leased a 2011 Ford Fusion sel 4 cyl automatic in Feb 2011. The second week of driving the car , I noticed that when I drove the car after sitting all night , I started driving and the transsmision reved a few thousand rpm's and no acceleration. I figured that the computer was adjusting because it was such a new vehicle less than 500 miles. A month or so latter with around 1450 miles, I didn't drive the car for two days. I got into the car and started to drive out of my development. I tried to accelerate into traffic, I presssed the accelerator about halfway and the car revved to almost redline and then and the car jolted into gear. I almost got rear ended from a car when I pulled into the road. Needless to say very dissapointing in a new vehicle, or any vehicle for that matter. Since this problem surfaced, I've done some research and I found out that this is a very common problem with the this vehicle. I'm sure that your aware that there is a law firm already investigating these widespread problems with the transmisions. Please do something before somebody gets seriously injured or killed. I'm giving Ford the benefit of the doubt, I'm not going to foward my information until the problem happens again. I did bring my vehicle to the dealer and they said the transmission did'nt have any codes and that I had to have a tech experience this problem to see what their dealing with. I'm nervous about driving the vehicle because it sounds like this problem isn't going to resolve itself. Thank god I don't have a wife or kids that would be driving in this vehicle. This would be a worldclass vehicle if it had a properly working transmission. Not only is this a very dangerous situation, it makes me wonder how durable these transmissions are due to severe slippage. Please due something before Ford getts another black eye, these problems aren't going away. Ford doesn't need another Firestone type disaster.
