  1. Great idea but why would one want their rear tail lights illuminated (other then for braking) during the Daytime? Also, the (DRL`s) Daytime Running Lights are designed to operating at 80% power, for reducing unnecessary glare and at the same time adding additional lamp life. Helpful suggestion though......
  2. My concern with a Paint Color then gives the illusion of the (Chameleon) effect of going Greenish to Blueish depending on the Sun`s effect is the potential nightmare of Color Matching should a repair someday be needed. A possible nightmare for the Auto Body Shop to match the Paint.
  3. I`ve always had at least one Ford vehicle in my driveway for the past 50 years. Sometimes, it sat alongside another non-Ford Product. Have to admit, my first experience in 1989 with a Korean vehicle, the Hyundai Excel did`nt go so well. After one year of misery and its residual value almost a toss up between trade-in or salvage yard, I got a reprieve as my local Hyundai Dealership owned a Honda Store next door and I got (something) besides parting gifts in return for replacing the primitive "Flintstone" car with a new 1990 Honda Accord EX. Sorry, I diverse! Both Hyundai and its sibling Kia have come a long way. I was happy with my 2006 Kia Rio5 and jumped on the new version in Nov of 2011 and bought a 2012 Kia Rio5 to replace my old one. In a nutshell, it looks sharp, is very comfortable, steers & brakes well, and has excellent acceleration. 5 year 60K bumper to bumper warranty and under 16K. Fuel Economy? Ha! EPA 30 mpg City and 40 mpg highway estimates. How about after 17 months and 11 K driven 21-23 mpg city and 31-31 mpg highway. My point? My 2011 Ford Fiesta with 30 months and 30K driven still gets 32-34 mpg city and 41-43 mpg highway (without) "GDI" both vehicles having a similar 1.6 ltr 4 cyl engine and 6 speed automatic transmission. Sure the Kia shifts smoother then the Fiesta "dual-clutch", but that occasional hesitation reminds me which one needs to get refilled later rather then sooner. IMO, Fiesta, still "Best in Class"!
  4. Well that settles it for me. Was contemplating replacing my 2011 Ford Fiesta SE Hatchback this coming summer with either a 2014 Ford Escape with its 2.0 Eco-Boost or opting for the 2014 Ford C-MAX Hybrid. Everyone`s blaming either the EPA or Ford/HKAG (Hyundia-Kia) for falsifying Fuel Economy Estimates. Ford did that on my 2011 Fiesta too! From Day 1 and Mile 1 I`ve gotten 33-34 MPG City and 41-43 MPG Highway (at 75 mph) with A/C always engaged. It "EXCEEDED" the EPA estimates! What`s that all about? This was an early production Fiesta ordered in Apr 2010 and I took delivery July 2010. Seems to me, even if the C-MAX does`nt maintain its projected 47 MPG it will still get a lot better fuel economy then the Escape. Factor in similar purchase price and the Hybrid`s higher projected residual value, to me, its a no brainer which vehicle to choose!
  5. Except for Ford, Chrysler, Nissan, and Mazda, basically every other Car Manufacturer that sells vehicles in the USA has DRL`s as standard equipment! What`s the big issue why Ford refuses to enable the DRL`s on US vehicles (unless) its a Fleet Purchase "FIN" or its being shipped to Canada? Simply offer an easy way to disable the DRL`s if you don`t want them on here in the U.S.?
  6. It seems to be the "trend" and its not going away. More and more Auto manufacturers both Domestic and Foreign are replacing the small emergency spare tire (donut) & jack with a mini toy air compressor and a can of tire sealant gel. The full size spare tires went the way of the mini-spare and now they are disappearing as well. In the Ford C-MAX, storage space might be a legitimate explanation. In most model vehicles, the storage well for the spare tire is still there. Depending on the Country the particular car is marketed in, some still have "full size", "mini spare", or simply a "mobility kit". My 2013 Kia Rio5 Hatchback had the wheel well in the storage space but contained the much cheaper "Mobility Kit". The spin was to (reduce weight) and (increase) fuel economy, right! A trip to a local Salvage Yard and $75 fixed the problem with both a Brand New Emergency Mini-Spare Tire and the Jack Tool Kit too that came out of a wreck! Odd, my 2011 Ford Fiesta SE Hatchback still had the Spare Tire & Jack? Go figure how long that will continue.
  7. With the sole exception of the 2013 Ford Escape, why was the Paint Color "Frosted Glass" (P9) replaced by "Ice Storm" (YG)? The former was a unique iridescent soft green that was substituted with a similar iridescent but (common) light silver blue? Hope they consider bringing "Frosted Glass" (P9) back for the 2014 MY especially for the Ford C-MAX! Don`t know what product mix sales numbers were but IMO, I prefer the greenish hue over the blue. If not, it won`t be a deal breaker for me.
  8. I find it odd that a typical retail consumer can`t order a new Ford vehicle and specify either a Core Block Heater or DRL Daytime Running Lights option without a Fleet Identification Number? Its not like your configuring the vehicle with something that can`t easily be plugged in or added on the assembly line at minimal time or cost. Most new Ford vehicles (US Spec) can have the DRL`s activated at delivery using an IDS Programmer with the cars smart junction box anyway. It would just eliminate an unnecessary waste of time.
  9. Good logic most of the time. Although I "pre-ordered" my 2011 Ford Fiesta SE Hatchback in Candy Red Metallic with the Power Moonroof (w-late delivery warning) as soon as the Order Book opened in early Spring of 2010. Took delivery Mid July 2010 and have yet to experience (any) problems. From day one it "exceeded" EPA Fuel Estimates and still delivers 32-33 MPG City and 41-43 MPG Highway with A/C always engaged. 30K driven and still not a rattle or a squeak!
  10. Just curious if anyone knows if its possible to activate the "DRL" Daytime Running Lights on a US Spec. C-MAX? I know (most) late Model Ford Vehicles (US Spec.) including my 2011 Ford Fiesta SE Hatchback had the ability to activate. Using the Vehicles "Smart Junction Box" and the Dealers "IDS" Programmer, it`s usually a 10 minute procedure with a couple of "Mouse Clicks". Anyone know or has anyone already done it?
  11. With 2014 Model Year Vehicles being introduced at various times during the year, anyone know when Ford will start taking orders for MY 2014 C-Max and what "Product Changes" might be in store?
  12. Tried to build a 2012 Focus SE Hatchback with Automatic transmission, Power Moonroof, Convenience Package (perimeter alarm/cruise control), with Frosted Glass Exterior and Light Stone cloth Interior and was unable to order "Any" Alloy Wheels. Color selection eliminates the SE Sports Package and your left with just steel wheels and caps! Dealer installed Alloys too expensive. Why can`t you order Alloy Wheel upgrade with Frosted Glass? What were they thinking? The only way to get Alloy Wheels is SE Sports Package and the only color you cannot get that package with is Frosted Glass. Make the wheels a separate option for that paint color!
  13. Looking for feedback of real time fuel economy numbers for both city, highway, mixed driving. My 2011 Fiesta SE Hatchback gets 34 mpg city and 41 highway (AT) far exceeding EPA estimates (without) FEP Fuel Efficiency Package. What numbers are 2012 Focus owners getting, same, worst, or better then EPA estimates?
  14. This was absolutely crazy. ALL Hyundai and Kia products have the XM/ Sirius radios with a free 3 month subscription. After that, its simply deactivated! So, rental fleet and those who are not interested (do not) have to subscribe. The few dollars extra it would have cost Ford to have included this module ACM even in their "Base" radio even without the SYNC, should have been part of the content as it was for All Canadian Fiesta built vehicles. A Damn Shame!
  15. When I pre-ordered my new 2011 Ford Fiesta on Mar 4, 10` I was told that my US Fiesta would have the built in capability of having the Daytime Running Lights (DRL`s) activated in about 10 minutes at the Dealers service dept. Poster claimed that all new US version Ford vehicles now have the DRL`s in their respective computers and wiring harness`s. Well, my dealership`s service department went through the prescribed process mentioned and previously posted in this Forum. IDS Programmer/Smart Junction Box, click on exterior lighting, enable DRL`s? WRONG, comes back as a not available option. Why are only Fleet ordered vehicles the only ones that US destined vehicles can have DRL`s? If there is another easy fix or relay module that is a Ford approved way of getting the DRL`s activated on the new 2011 Ford Fiesta, will someone kindly post so my dealers service department can solve this mystery?
  16. I ordered my 2011 Ford Fiesta SE Hatchback on Mar 4 and my ordered vehicle also shows that it is processing with no VIN assigned yet as well.
  17. When did you place your order? I put my order in on Mar 4, and salesman says nothing yet on his daily DORA report on this ordered unit. No VIN assignment either? Guess it will get here when it gets here. Perhaps since my ordered Fiesta is an X Plan purchase, it was pushed back and delayed?
  18. Edited? I`d like an answer if someone has information on the question posted?
  19. On Ford.ca web site, ALL Canadian Fiesta`s will have as (base) radio single c-d ,am-fm 40 watt/4 speaker & Sirius Sat . with free 6 month subscription. You`d think that Ford would use the same bottom tier radio for the minimal additional cost in both US and Canadian versions? I see that CA version also has (free) trunk organizer thrown in as well. I know the MSRP in higher on CA Fiesta`s so I guess the extra add ons aren`t actually free, but having to manufacturer 2 identical entry level radio/sound components, one with and one without the Sirius feature seems redundant for the few extra dollars the vendor would charge. Oh, I almost forgot.....the cost of the free complimentary 6 month Sirius subscription. I got it!
  20. Absolutely NO Excuse for shipping vehicles from assembly plant with defective paint finish. 2010 and Quality Control can`t eliminate Orange Peel from paint shop? Stop the line and FIRE the Paint Shop Supervisor. A rattle or missing screw can be quickly corrected, a lousy paint job is for the life of the vehicle. Who ever is checking cars before being released for shipping.......Take off your Sun Glasses and look at the Paint Finish. Hell, even a $10,000. Hyundai Accent or Kia Rio have paint clarity that matches up to Lexus and Mercedes Benz. NO EXCUSES...Just fix it, NOW!
  21. Anyone heard yet when the production of the Ford Fiesta`s with the ordered Power Moon Roof will finally begin? I heard July or August? I ordered mine on Mar.4, and was told probably late summer due to late availability. Hope it will be sooner.
  22. Wrong about everything and anything but (you), Teaparty`s, Teabagger`s and Tea! Baiting me won`t work.....find another "bag" and start dunking!
  23. NickF1011, Thanks for telling carforford in so many words, to stop baiting and STFU! Guess my "Tea" was so strong the caffeine got me confused with Skip instead of Flip Wilson.
  24. I`m sorry, like Skip Wilson use to say...."The Devil Made Me Do It", guess for me it was Carsforford made me rant. It was the wrong forum to address this matter anyway, I agree.
  25. Carforford, I sent your regards as requested to both "Nancy & Harry"! Please do the same for me when you chat next with Shawn, Rush,Glenn,Sarah, Michelle Bachmann, and the rest of your right wing Tea Party Socialist fear mongering friends. Oh, I almost forgot, and a "shout out" for both of our favorite idiot, Joe the Plumber, (who was NEVER a licensed Plumber), who was terrified of Wealth Redistribution, when he never made 50K a year in his entire life. Guess it proves the point I`ve been advocating for years....Life`s too short too drink cheap beer, it diminishes what few brain cells one has and Joe proves that point everyday! There is only one thing worse then Single Payer or Socialize Medicine in the form of National Health care like Canada and most of the (free) world already has. And that is.....being un-insured, under-insured, un-insurable. Like I stated in an earlier post, those that have no health insurance due to the fact that they chose not to purchase it or could not afford it, when they show up at the hospital ER or a ambulatory clinic and have no money to pay the bill, if they are under 65, Medicaid pays the bill, if over 65 Medicare pays the bill. You, me and every other US taxpayer ends up paying for the un-insured through your Federal Tax dollars whether you like it or not. Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy stopped paying those bills for the un-insured years ago when their cheques started to bounce. You Teabaggers can take your (tea) black or with cream, but there is NO FREE LUNCH!
