  1. Bump to see if there's an update. Thank you so much. VIN 2LMDJ8JK3BBJ04593
  2. Sorry to add to the workload but would you be able to update the status for me? It's very much appreciated.
  3. I really hope that the software engineers who work on the Sync system in Fords' vehicles have nothing whatsoever to do with the people who designed and maintain the syncmyride.com website. The user interface is a hopeless mess, the login procedure consistently flawed and I have little confidence that the vehicle information it presents is accurate for a vehicle that may or may not be built.
  4. For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure that the date on the window sticker is not the build date. I'm assuming it's the date the window sticker was produced and can be several weeks before the vehicle is built.
  5. Here's something that ain't in the manual - what's the opening and closing time for the power liftgate at a given temperature? I don't expect there's any actual measurements but I'd like general impressions. I been with people who have power gates on other makes and some of them seem PAINFULLY slow to me.
  6. Thanks, I found the information provided by both Critic and akirby rather informative. Here I was awaiting delivery of my new MKX wondering faintly how the vehicle was going to produce heat in our frigid winters if the dang engine wasn't going to be running at all the stoplights on the way to work...
  7. Around here (Canada) it is becoming popular for provincial governments to enact bans on hand-held cell phone use but permitting hands free communication. That satisfies the public need to feel like something is being done (and raise revenues via fines) without actually accomplishing anything about driver distraction. All scientific studies done on the subject conclude it is the actual act of having a conversation which results in driver distraction, not the use of hand held cell phones specifically.
  8. Got to hand it to the Chinese. This is a brillant strategy to save them the time and effort of doing it themselves. And so much cleaner and elegant than the ususal strategy of simply producing counterfeit copies.
  9. I sure hope so. But there arre a lot of owners with the previous generation Sync software who aren't very impressed with Ford's less than timely updates there. I get the imprssion the new MyFord/Lincoln touch was a bit rushed to market and it's going to be a while before a lot of the bugs get ironed out. For example, the navigation voice gives distances in miles while the system displays are all set to metric. That kind of basic stuff should never make it past initial quality control unless time constraints were severe. Anyway it was the technology that first attracted me to the new MKX and it's the technology that will make or break this vehicle sales wise. I really can't see the MKX attracting the same kind of elderly clientale that Lincoln's traditionally attracted. That's not necessarily a bad thing though.
  10. Is there an online source somewhere that describes how the newly implemented engine stop/start technology works on the Edge and MDX? As I understand it, the engine is supposed to stop automatically when coasting and restart when the accelerator is pressed. I would imagine there's a lot of newer technology that makes this more or less seemless. Can this feature be turned off?
  11. Thank you very much for the update. I am aware of the need to enter the VIN - I was only using the partial url as an example. Your information does reinforce the impression that my dealer badly mislead me - when I placed the order July 17th I was assured the order would be highest priority and placed as part of his initial MKX dealer order the next day. Thanks to the DORA I know the order wasn't submitted for another 10 days and I know it wasn't highest priority. And he has had at least one MKX delivered several days ago that is awaiting customer pickup. I was also told the vehicle had entered production Aug. 26th but as that's the date of the DORA, I wasn't convinced of that. You're providing a great service to Ford customers and I greatly appreciate it.
  12. Been checking the http://services.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin= site since I received my VIN over a week ago but still nothing there. It's getting to be a bit depressing. Would really appreciate any tracking info!
  13. Always amusing to read American opposition to common sense that the rest of the civilized world has implemented many years ago. Like the metric system and daytime running lights... But inevitably the US will one day have both. And with respect to DRL, one can only hope that TAIL-LIGHTS <on> will be a part of it! In visibility limited daytime divided highway driving, it is at least as important to be able to see the tail-lights of the vehicle in front of you as it is to see the headlights of the vehicle behind you.
