  1. So, on the 21st of March I ordered my car and took delivery last night! I ordered a 2012 Kona Blue GT Premium 401A Convertible, 6R80, electronics package, comfort package, HID, rear camera, backup sensors, polished aluminum wheels, then added the CS front fascia and fog lamps, decklid panel, and bright billet grille as accessories.
  2. I'd take it in if it were my car. It's up to you of course, but at least you'd have your problem documented. Yeah, it might get worse, but on the other hand, the problem might get fixed.
  3. Are you saying that you've not taken it in to be repaired?
  4. It's not still in the bank?
  5. I ordered a GT convertible on 3/21, got my VIN on 4/15, still haven't seen the window sticker. The Ford Customer Service rep says my car will be built by 5/5 and delivered to the dealer by 5/15. After researching how these things work, I picked the largest Ford dealer (based on the number of Mustangs they had for sale when I checked local dealers) near my home to order from. Apparently there is an advantage in doing so, and it seems to have worked in my case.
  6. Gawker media sites have gone from 1.75 million average views a day to less than 250,000 in the last couple of months and they're using anything they can to get the eyes back so their ad revenue doesn't fall even more. A sensationalistic approach to a few problems doesn't surprise me. Did you read the article? "Fifteen owners have lodged safety complaints", but when you actually go the NTSB's http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/complaints/ site and look, there are 21 reports of problems with the 2011 Mustang (of the close to 66,000 sold) and no transmission related issues were reported to have a crash, fire, injury or death associated with the report. Kinda hard to claim safety issues without one of those having been the result, wouldn't you say? In fact, of the whole list, the only incidents reported that had actual accidents were 2 from GT 500 drivers who lost control when they floored it... apparently they feel that spinning tires wasn't something one should expect from a GT 500 Read them, they're a gas!
  7. There are several anonymous posters on the different forums claiming problems... The problem I have with many of the threads I've read is that when I go back and look at previous posts by these folks and read how they describe their driving habits, it's not surprising to me that they have problems with their cars. "Drive it like you stole it" seems to be a popular theme. I prefer to drive it like I want to pass it down to my son when he's my age.
  8. It just crossed my mind - with all the terrible problems occurring in Japan at the moment, are there any Ford products that rely on Japanese parts? These days with all the talk about how "American" cars aren't totally American, I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone knew.
  9. Does anyone know when the Ford build site will get updated with the 2012 models and options? I spend some idle time building ... and building... and building! OK, so I'm compulsive... I'll be ordering in come spring and I want to play with the latest and greatest. Thanks
  10. I'll be ordering a 2012 Mustang GT convertible - my first new Mustang since the 70's. I was planning on the gray color also, but let's face it, it's not arrogance that decides what color the manufacturer selects for their cars. Thinking that it is arrogance is just silly and indicates someone thinks the world revolves around them and their petty desires. That's where I see the arrogance. Ford does what they've done for years, they get market analysis, put color in front of people and get their opinions, etc. If the color of the car you want is so important, paint the thing. At least the "any color you want, as long as it's black" mentality is gone! Yeah, it's a bit disappointing to have the color that I planned on selecting for a year discontinued, but the next best color - Kona blue - is very nice too, and white looks nice...
  11. I would reject any use of self-reported data, especially in cases where there is known competition between manufacturer, make and models, and even more so between owners of same make with different model year. Just read forums where there are owners of 2010 and 2011 Mustangs and note when those models are compared.
  12. No worries! I'll be a customer again, first time was in '73, next time, 2011. A bit of foolishness won't stop me.
