  1. The seat itself folds flat but the spare tire compartment is taller, making a huge cliff off the spare tire cover onto the seat.
  2. This is the same style of review as the Focus. This truck's my baby and I've had her almost a month now. Tester specs: 2011 Ford F-150 Supercrew FX4 Ecoboost Ebony black exterior Black interior Every option but navi. Exterior Design What I like: Black accented taillights, 6 bar grille, body color accents, 20" graphite coloured wheels. Basically everything What I Don't like: Large, gaping hole in the front bumper for airflow to the intercooler. at least add a grille to it? Offset license plate bracket. Awkward looking. Interior Design/Layout/Tech What I like: nice interior layout. Symmetrical, simple design with everything in reach. Piano black accents with silver trim easily make the FX4's interior stand out over wood grain. Sync voice commands are slick. interior space is humungous. LCD display in gauge cluster is simple and easy to use. Build quality is great. console shifter is unique and luxurious. The heated seats burn my ass. What else can be said? What I Don't like: buggy Microsoft Sync software. It freezes occasionally and the fuse needs to be pulled. Sony sound system is a waste of money, at least in the F-150. Half volume is as loud as it will get, after half it doesn't go any louder. Once the volume gets higher, bass completely disappears and instead of bass, you hear the subwoofer "thumping" up and down. balance and clarity is good, amplifier is underpowered. Save $500 and install an aftermarket system or if anyone can figure out a way to beef up the amp, tell me please. Minor thing, hardly worth mentioning. I wish the shifter had a leather shift boot on it. crumbs and dirt can get in the crack of the shifter base and get stuck to it. Power and ride/handling What I like: Ride is good....on smaller wheels. I'll get to that in the "What i don't like" section. Handling is swell. Power....here we go. jackpot. the Ecoboost is by far and away the best engine in the F-150. Low end torque is superb, which is very noticeable having driven a 5.0L F-150. Towing is superb, pulls my 4500lb boat no problem. Engine and tires are quiet and there are no annoying rattles. Fuel economy is supposed to be good, however mine is not broken in yet. I average 14L/100km. Not great, but I'll wait a few more thousand km. What I Don't like: Ride. The $500 you saved on that Sony sound system can contribute to tires worth a s**t. The Pirelli's on the 20" rims are by far and away the crappiest tire I have ever felt on a truck. Great on a Maserati, terrible on a truck. Tread makes the truck vibrate, and makes the back end very bouncy. Buy the 20's though, the 18's on the FX4, in my opinion, are very bland looking. Verdict Great truck, easily best in class. Pirelli tires are a let down. Interior quality and space is superb. The truck is gorgeous. Ecoboost is the best engine you can get in a half-ton. Overall, I'd recommend this truck to anyone any day of the week. Great hauler/work truck/family minivan/RV. Overall score out of 10: 8/10
  3. My parents ordered a new Focus to be used as a "toad" for their RV, because of it's ease of prep for flat towing and it's weight. My tester's specs: 2012 Ford Focus Titanium 5dr White Platinum Metallic exterior Charcoal black leather interior Car is loaded with every option Let me start off this "rave review" by saying that this new Focus is an unbelievable car. There are little to no things I do not like about this car. Those things will be highlighted, however. Exterior Design What I like: Front end with the piano black accents. Looks great and has an excellent contrast on the "White Platinum" paint. What I Don't like: Taillights. Too big and throw off the entire look of the car. They belong on an Explorer, not a Focus. Interior Design/Layout/Tech What I like: Uncannily great build quality. Unique looking dashboard adds character to the car. MyFordTouch screen makes the dash a whole lot less busy looking. Sony stereo is alot louder and nicer sounding than the Sony in my truck. Sync voice commands make MFT a whole lot simpler, and are slick and responsive. Lots of trunk space. Self parking system is a crazy novelty to show your friends (and get girls). Don't rely on it. What I Don't like: MyFordTouch in itself. controls are touch sensitive, not heat sensitive so it is alot less responsive than say an Iphone or ipad. Sometimes MFT takes 10-15 seconds to respond to a touch. Not great, but it gets the job done. lack of rear legroom, and the seats don't fold flat. Power and ride/handling This is where the Focus shines. What I like: Dual clutch 6 speed auto, it rings out all 160 horsepower out of the engine. Sport shift is not Ferrari quick, but it shifts smooth and fast. The car feels like it has more power than it does. Ride is sporty, not bouncy, but not 70's Cadillac either. But now we get to the handling. Oh, the handling. Superb. Excellent. Brilliant. Amazing. Awesome. I could go on. I pushed as hard as my brain was willing to push around an overpass loop, and there wasn't even a hint of understeer. Easily the best handling car in class. The Mazda3 was what i thought was the best handling C segment car until now. this car has the 18" rims with sport suspension. These tires make significantly more road noise than the 15's, 16's, and 17's, so that is something to consider. What I Don't like: The odd, manual like takeoff of the dual clutch. It feels exactly like a perfect clutch release on a manual transmission. Sometimes when taking off on hills it vibrates, preventing itself from stalling. Definitely feels odd. On a regular car, the torque converter instantly pulls the vehicle after releasing the brakes, this dual clutch takes about 3 seconds to release the clutch, if you aren't giving it throttle. It releases quickly under throttle and sends you off the line fairly quick. Verdict Excellent car with as little faults as you are going to find in a c-segment hatch. Feels much more expensive than a c-segment car. Build quality is nothing more than typical from a European car. Ride/handling/road noise (on smaller rims) are all superb. Overall score out of 10: 10/10
  4. Hmmm.....arrived in Edmonton? Maybe they are loading it onto a car hauler and shipping it the rest of the way to Calgary.

  11. Hey, Would like an update on the other car please, VIN: 1FAHP3N20CL238045 Thanks
  12. "Scheduled to Day" means what date the vehicle will be built, correct?
  13. K, i can't wait anymore, i need to know where my baby is and what she's doing. VIN: 1FTFW1ET1BKE04885 Thanks for the help!
  14. I saw spy shots of what is going to be the new Escape. It's a Kuga with a Focus interior. Pretty much what i expected. http://www.caranddriver.com/news/spied/11q1/2013_ford_escape_spy_photos-future_cars
  15. XTR has been a Canadian tradition since the 10th gen F150. It is simply a Canadian version of the "XLT Chome Package" from the US, Although it is technically a trim level here rather than an option. It is easily the best selling trim level around where I live. It adds $2000 to the price of an XLT and consists of Chrome step bars, chrome 18" wheels, chrome door handle pullers, unique chrome grille and more.
  16. Both interiors are disappointing. My mom's got the Tahoe with that interior and it WAS a great interior, then Ford and Dodge came out with beautiful interiors and now it's falling behind.
  17. I happened to have a chance to compare the F-150 to the Silverado recently. What a difference! This review is coming from a non-biased point of view. i am only stating facts and what i observed. These were the test trucks: My uncle's 2010 Ford F-150 FX4 Supercab w/5.4L V8. List price (CAD): $47,500 A friend's 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT Z71 Extended cab w/5.3L V8. List price (CAD): 48,650 Both trucks are similarly equipped, however the Ford does have the trailer brake controller, tailgate step, bedside step and a remote start. All options the Chevy did not have. I will split this review into different sections. Exterior design Although somewhat biased, I thought the Ford looked more like a truck, and had a more "with the times" look. GM has a nice look with the GMC Sierra, but the Chevy is getting dated and has a conservative architecture. I did like the large body lines around the wheel arches though, it made the bed look smaller, and the wheels look bigger, which by the way, were 18" on the GM, and 20" on the Ford. (GM had aftermarket 22" wheels though) I found that the Chevy didn't have much of a body-line flow, likewise the Ford had the angled out sheetmetal that runs along the fenderline and down the doors. No need for any stick on mouldings here. I loved the big, in your face look of the Ford, although the Chevy has some sort of timeless simplicity look to it. Exterior Design Winner: Ford Interior Quality & Look This is where the Chevy fell short. The trucks tested both had cloth seats and both had black interiors. The Chevy's interior reminds me too much of the last generation GM trucks, and i criticized the last generation's interior for looking too much like the 90's interior. All generations since 1995 have used this dash look. The interior is the well known 2-part dash which entails the gauge and radio pod, and then splits into the glove box part. This design is, although very functional and simple, very dated. This interior uses hard, textured plastics on the top of the dash and the door panels, while the dash face uses a flat black plastic piece. Not good. The radio is straight out of an Aveo and the steering wheel is fresh out of the Impala. There are a couple silver splashes scattered, but it is 95% black. (not really black, the seats turn grey after 5000 miles) The Ford's interior, however is much different. It too uses a similar layout to the last generation F150. 4 Circular vents, symmetrical look, console shifter. Although it uses hard plastics, they are attractive and the texture is great. I love the color contrast. Black seats, white stitching. The dash uses black plastic with silver vent stacks, chrome surrounding the vents and piano black veneer scattered among the truck. It is very attractive. The stereo in the Ford is the Sony 780 watt sound system, and sounds decent for a brand name system. The Chevy's stereo is the standard 6 speaker system and sounds good for a basic system, but I'd want a bass upgrade. The seats on the GM are disappointing, because after 15000 kilometers they formed an ugly sag-line on the bolsters. The Ford has very supportive and fantastic seats. The Ford also felt like it had double the room on the interior. Interior Quality & Look winner: Ford F150 Ride & Handling Both trucks ride and drive very nicely, however both differ from each other greatly. The Chevy felt lighter, more nimble and easier to control than the Ford, but the Ford's steering system has a nicer feel to it, the GM's is fairly numb. This section is tied between Ford and Chevy. Engine & Transmission Both trucks have disappointing engines. the 5.4L in the Ford was a good engine up until 2009, when the truck got heavier. The Torque difference is significant between the two pickups, but the Ford benefitted from the silky-smooth 6 speed automatic transmission which felt fantastic. The Chevy was hindered by the, frankly, awful 4 speed automatic, which shifted rough and returned terrible towing results. The Ford's transmission was not particularly impressive while towing either, it had the "hunting for gears" disease of early 6 speed autos. But at least the 6 speed didn't hit 5500rpm while towing up a highway grade, which the Chevy did. The 5.3L in the Chevy is a reliable engine, and had it's glory days in the early 21st century. Now it's in need of an upgrade, much like the 5.4 did. Engine & Transmission winner: Ford Verdict GM has the potential to make a fantastic truck, but the current one needs a refresh. This truck would benefit from a fresh exterior design, all-new "with the times" interior and an upgraded drivetrain. The Chevy had a dated, cramped interior that wasn't nearly as quiet as the Ford's interior, and needs to be redone. The Ford DID benefit from new engines in 2011, so that erases my suggestion for a new 5.4 replacement. The 6 speed auto is silky smooth, and the cabin is quiet, smooth and houses tons of room. Overall WInner: Ford F150
  18. The stupid "first shot" at a Ford dealer ordered in my brother's Focus Titanium Hatchback with the wrong rims (and didn't have the sport pack) wrong color (was yellow, not white platinum), and it went as far as being the sedan, not the hatch. he got his money back and went to a dealer worth half a crap. A real inconvenience, and whoever the idiot was who put that order in needs to be fired.
  19. Ford is going to regret dropping the Ranger, seeing as GM has redesigned the Colorado. There is still a market for small pickups and trying to replace a compact pickup with a full size $35,000+ truck is not my idea of a "replacement"
  20. The EB is definitely an improvement over the 5.4, but it is still butt ugly, and needs a full restyle. it's had the same sheetmetal and frame since 1998. not good.
  21. my dad loves the new Ecoboost and also loves the Limited trim, and he'd love to have those two combined. He likes the fuel economy and smoothness.
  22. Hey! just ordered a 2011 F150 Ecoboost FX4 and thought I'd join. (just so i can track my order on this forum, lol)
