  2. My 2017 2.0 failed around 26,000 miles. Engine was replaced and I now have 58,000 on the clock. Noticed my coolant is low. Uh-oh. Pictures of my current engine sticker as well.
  3. To answer your question, I don’t think you can just turn off the backup sensor. If you had the tow package you might be able to fool it. I have the tow package and when I plug in my trailer it disables the backup sensor.
  4. I believe the OP is asking about the backup sensor, not park assist.
  5. Are you sure? The 1.5 and the twin scroll 2.0 are open deck designs. These are the main culprits of coolant intrusion that has plagued folks, and the topic of this thread.
  6. OMG, you folks are so missing the point. You guys are all talking warranties and expectations. That is NOT the point. The point is a SYSTEMIC problem that is affecting a higher percentage of vehicles that is way outside the;norm. Engines failures at the 15,000 to 70,000 range is a serious and unprecedented issue in a 21st century engine. Come on folks. I don’t understand why people are defending a well publicized issue.

Ford has a history of not honoring their defects. I'm talking about consumer advocacy here. If I didn't come on here and start this thread and gripe, then who would? Your self-gratification of all things Ford just feeds the corporate giants mentality that they can do whatever they want and get away with it.

  10. That statement is pure crap. Ford is NOT covering many people out there that have coolant intrusion. They are just barely past the warranty and Ford is telling them to go pound sand. That is why their is a class action lawsuit. Get real man.

  14. Just wondering how many have had their engines replaced. Mine was replaced at 32,000 miles or so. The numbers are ticking up and dealers are short on supplies with vehicles backlogged on their lots. My service advisor told me they had replaced a couple dozen engines.   15. Would love to put it behind me, but how do I know it won't happen again? Lots of Escapes are going in for coolant intrusion, and apparently so are other models with ecoboost engines. Its a huge issue.   16. Well that’s good for me! Got my Escape back and it’s runs great. Three weeks from start to finish, which is excellent. Couple of parts held things up, but the long block got to the dealer pretty quick. Had a very good service advisor. I was told the tech has done about sixteen 1.5’s, so that boosted my confidence quite a bit. An excellent job by the tech. Everything was put back together like factory. After driving a couple days the engine light came on. Checked it with Forscan and it was just one DTC, P04DB. “Crankcase Ventilation System Disconnection”. I searched online and there was a TSB for this code. Took it back and they reprogrammed the PCM. No big deal. Finally got around to installing my Kuga tail lights.

  18. That is great news. I wanna keep her for a long time. And the other thing I’ve got going for me is that the mechanic has done 16 engine replacements.
  19. That would be awesome, I absolutely love my Escape. The 2017 Titanium with Sport Appearance package is the year Ford nailed it IMHO. I declined the loaner. With the virus I’ve got both kids home from college and my wife is furloughed. So I have 3 other cars to drive. And yes, keeping up the maintenance on 4 cars keeps me on my toes. Heck, had to make an excel spread sheet just to keep track.
  20. Yes, I’m still under factory warranty. And I got really lucky with my service advisor, really nice guy. He thanked me for doing all the diagnostic research for him. Haha. I told him about the symptoms and the codes I read and wrote the TSB number. And I love my Escape sooo much. But here’s the big question. What’s different about the engine they are going to drop in from the old one? Will it last 200,000 plus miles? Is the only difference those little slits between the cylinders? I have PowerTrain warranty until 100,000/2024, so I guess I have that much time to ponder.
  21. Well, whatever it is mine has bitten the bulletproof. It’s been confirmed. 33000 miles with coolant intrusion. I’m getting a long block.  And I stand completely corrected. It’s not porosity, it’s just a turd product. Both the 1.5 and 2.0 open deck design. Unbelievable.

  24. Engine light came on today. Codes 0302 and 0316. Looks like cylinder #2 is getting coolant intrusion. I was so hoping my 2.0 was safe. Time to take it in.
  25. Well, here we go. Mine has been sipping some coolant lose. Have had to add a very small amount of coolant over the last month or two. Couple of rough starts in the last month. Plugged in Forscan and I do have a P0316 DTC. Misfire on the first 1000 revs. Thank goodness I have 100,000 PowerTrain. I currently have 32,000 miles. Stopped by the Ford dealer. They said it’s a good thing I have the 2.0 cause the 1.5 is on backorder. Like that gives me a warm and fuzzy. Traded in my 2013 2.0 Titanium for: 2017 Lightning Blue Titanium | 2.0. | AWD | Pano Roof | Tow Package Sport Appearance Package | Roof Racks
