  1. At this point, I'd rip out the headliner and run it through the car wash and record where it's coming in. This' is so stupid. Roof rails and windshields have been around forever. Can't believe they screwed up that technology. Every time it rains for a couple days straight I look up at my headliner and check for leaks.
  2. Very true. I sold my last car myself and got WAY more than if I would of traded it in. I was looking at the new 2014 Jeep Cherokee, but that 9 speed transmission looks like trouble already before its even out of the gate.
  3. Funny you should ask. I looked on KBB and got the same price.
  4. I have one phone that does it all and I get irradiated half as much.
  5. Getting the rear view camera!! Purchased the Coastal Tech LockPick V2 for my Escape here (the video is very informative): http://www.coastaletech.com/escapelockpick.htm Info on hatch, usefull for camera install to Lockpick and FMT display or mirror monitor. I'm getting the same camera, a good quality Panasonic. http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=share&list=UUQblU0hiwRAYKKSefGjuj3A&v=FL2R8I-Og_0&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DFL2R8I-Og_0%26feature%3Dshare%26list%3DUUQblU0hiwRAYKKSefGjuj3A Good discussion here: http://www.fordescape.org/forum/diy-garage/4666-how-install-lockpick-into-mft.html
  6. The 3M tape, when applied properly, is quite strong. The imbedded nutserts are very far apart. Like 15-20 inches off the centerline each.
  7. Not any cleaner, but I think it finishes off the rear end nicely.
  8. Sweet. Just be sure it's warm enough outside. You might not have as much of a problem where your at. I had to park in the sunshine to heat up everything since it was about 55-60F outside. Be sure to post pictures!
  9. How did the install go? Did you have 2 riv-nuts imbedded in the underside? Was your 3m tape too thin? BTW, looks great!! And a friendly reminder not to open your hatch when you have really long stuff on the roof rack.
  10. Finally got it back from the paint shop on Friday. And today was the first day it stopped raining and was above 65F. I do like it and I noticed they are on ebay now. Didn't use the 3M tape that came with it. It was maybe 10mil thick and to me just wasn't thick enough. Autozone had really good 3M molding tape that was like 30 or 45mil. Much better. Also put in the 2 bolts that came with it. The inside of the liftgate did NOT have knock-outs for the bolt locations, so I had to make my own. Ebay link. http://www.ebay.com/itm/151132734211?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
  11. FYI, I have read other discussions about water getting in because the bulkhead sealant has cracked. Also have heard of AC hose leaking. Picture of cracked seal.
  12. That's exactly what I still experience. Some times worse than other times.
  13. Got it here: http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/270413863.html Doesn't affect hatch operation or 3rd brake light. I'm happy with it, and we all know how 1/16" is not good enough for me. Its at the paint shop right now and might be ready tomorrow, which means pics by Monday. If you can wait, I will post install pics. Pictures of it on the Kuga below.
  14. Received mine in the mail today. Happy with the product. It does include the 3m tape and there are 2 rivnuts included as well, which makes me feel better as I can install these and use the included tape for good measure. No template, but I can make my own to locate the 2 spots to drill. Instructions are in Chinese, so I had my Asian co-worker translate and it just says the usual stuff like "wipe down surface with alcohol before applying tape, blah, blah, blah. Now off to the paint shop. PS. in one of my pics it looks like the spoiler really curves up a lot on the back lip. it really doesn't, just my camera perspective.
  15. Lots of info on the net about aftermarket DRL's. From what I understand, taking out the solid black plastic piece almost always ends up with a broken tab, so you wouldn't be able to reinstall it. The cleanest way to do it is to get the factory harness. It's a lot of work to do something that looks like OEM, so I'm sure a lot of folks just wire it hot to the ignition or battery or headlights. Just make sure they come with instructions. I'm working on my rear fog lights I got from the UK. Very hard to do a complete OEM job unless you have someone that can go into the BCM and program it for you.
  16. Funny you should mention that. My reciept does not say exactly what update they did. I already did the major update to V3.6.2 some time ago and reported it as a successful install. I think the dealer just did the same thing. Which of course means that your Sync account and the dealership don't connect. I checked my sync accounts software history and it only goes up to when i did the install. I am going to run a vehicle health report to see if that updates it and compare the info to see if they actually did anything useful or just erase all my presets for nothing. I am happy that Ford did the right thing and stepped up. I don't know if i should have the new seat installed or just completely wear out the old one first. If they have to install the new one I'm going to ask for the old one back if they will give it to me.
  17. Update: The dealer sent pictures to the Ford mothership today. Ford is replacing the lower seat cover free of charge.
  18. I didn't specifically ask about the rough idle, although I should have.
  19. Took it by the dealer and the SA said he will forward the pictures I sent him to Ford's mothership. Dropping it off on Monday. He also said if it was his car he would be concerned as well, with the car being only 1 year old. Bonus is he is going to update my PCM to the latest calibration. Also said MyTouch has an update. I was confused because I did the last update to V3.6.2 and reported a successful install. So we will see about that one.
  20. You are on point. I researched the hell out of this class. Features are great. Ford dealers pricing was very good. My last tank full was 28 mpg. Looked at Subaru hard, but couldn't get past the styling.
  21. A truce is fine with me, But this blind "Ford can do no wrong" attitude has got to stop. And isn't one of the reasons we are here is to find solutions to our problems? Or just plain share information and fun stuff and mods?
  22. To say that jeans are the culprit after 1 year is ridiculous. Some replies to my post in another Escape forum: "I would - without hesitation - bring that to my dealership and ask for a solution. When my 09 was plagued by that white stain issue, the two presented options were to deal with it (and get leather installed on my own) or do a same-part replacement. I asked if I could pay the difference if Ford would installe leather in place. Nope..." "get it checked!! Heck my 05 does not look anything like that!! Only thing I notice is a little sagging of the foam on the outside edge on mine." "Does your car have any kind of warranty left on it? I'd be a little upset if my 1 year old car was doing that - bring it to dealer."
  23. Always take my wallet out. Don't like sitting on it. Done that no matter what car I'm in and no matter what seat I'm in. Jeans? Like, most of America, and I dare say the world, wears jeans a lot of the time. I can hear the lawyers now. "But your Honor, the plantiff was wearing JEANS"!!! A slight smirk crosses the Fords lawyers face. The judge gasps in horror and yells "CASE DISMISSED!!".
