  1. Hmm, I just learned the Fusions TC uses the the brakes to stabilize the car. Learn something new everyday.

  5. I was being facetious. I have mine and love it dearly. There are a good number of people on this forum complaining about different aspects of the car. I was only pointing to the fact that they are not staying on dealer lots too long for a car some (not all) are finding easy to find faults in.
  6. I have been plugging my car (engine heater) in with a timer set to start warming 3 hours before my wife takes it to work. It has been getting a little better MPG's (on her long 2.4 mile trip) with the EV kicking in a little sooner. The heater also warms up faster. Is it saving more gas than the cost of the energy to warm the engine? That I have no idea. It would be more beneficial to someone who has a little longer commute.
  7. It would also depend if you have ethanol in either. Here we have ethanol (5-10%) in our 87 octane gas. The premium has no ethanol and thus gets better mileage. My cars see 2-5 MPG difference between the 2 fuels but when you factor in the cost per gallon the 87 is still cheaper.

  9. I just put my stock 17" (with snows) back on so I can't weigh them but the seemed pretty light compared to the 18" aftermarket wheels I took off. You also have to take into consideration the weight of the tire as the smaller (wheel) diameter tires normally weigh more than the larger diameter ones (if they are the same width). My aftermarket wheels 18"x 8" weigh about 21# and I put the same 225 series tire on (but it is .5" wider than the 17" tire). Make sure you put a good low rolling resistant tire back on, make sure the wheels are relatively light (18-22#) and make sure the offset is close to the stock 17"x 7.5"x 55mm (offset). My aftermarket 18" are 38mm offset and that and being wider at 8" makes them stick out from the wheel wells more than stock creating more aero drag making the car less aerodynamic & thus less fuel efficient.
  10. Your average brake score overall on your blog is about 93.5 (closer to 90 than 100). And a higher brake score will give you higher MPG's. As you get your brake score up and get your EV miles up you will see better mileage. There are a lot of factors that go in to driving for mileage but in our cars the easiest to control (because of the gauges) are these two. Granted if your driving 75 MPH on a highway there is less you can do to economize. So far in my car I have found the braking to be the easiest to get good results. Without trying too hard I have been averaging a 98 brake score. I'm not trying to criticize you or your driving style. I am just trying to help you improve your MPG's (I think that's why you started your blog?). Brake regeneration in our cars is the most important aspect of charging the batteries. If the batteries don't get recharged you won't be running on EV. The less you run on EV the lower your MPG will be. You might not notice it as much in your 7 mile drives to work but as the rest of your driving gets more efficient the braking & EV will become more important.
  11. Get your brake score closer to 100 than to 90 and you would have alot better shot at 47.

  14. Does not matter when you put on the first 1000 or so miles. What matters is how you put on those miles. Don't use cruise control & vary your RPM as much as possible.
  15. Be aware of what offset are on the Titanium. I bought summer wheels for my Hybrid (before I had the car) and ordered 18" x 8" with an offset of 38. I had been told the factory wheels were 44 offset but after I got the car I found out they are 55 offset. The 38 offset works but are set out quite a bit more than the 55's. They probably use the more offset wheels on the hybrid to keep the wheels tucked in for better aerodynamics. I am using the factory hybrid aluminum wheels for my winter tires.
