  1. Funny how mid-sized cars used to be for people who couldn't afford a full-size car. They were boring and base. Now it has turned into the most competitive and demanding segment. They have to be big and powerful enough for 4 adults while getting good gas mileage, have excellent safety and technology features, a very diverse set of available features, and start in the low $20s.
  2. I had a tough choice between two colors that nobody else has really mentioned...gray or ice storm. My wife wanted ice storm but its my car so I chose the gray.
  3. Where did you get a brochure for the Titanium Hybrid? I would like to see one.
  4. I turned to the Fusion for two primary reasons even though I have never driven one. 1. I wanted a mid-sized fuel efficient hybrid and while competition is tight for mid-sized gas cars, it seems like the Fusion is on top of the hybrid competition this year. 2. I get family plan pricing on Fords which knocked about $3500 off the price of my Fusion build. The Accord seems like a great car also and I certainly can't fault you for choosing one. If my circumstances were different I might have done the same
  5. Dealer near me has two and getting more today. Dealer I ordered from has none and still no date or VIN. He said he was going to call his regional manager on Tuesday and find out what was going on. He is sure the fact that it I a hybrid has at least something to do with it
  6. I have no idea. 10 is simply what is on a copy of the order when it was given to me at the time of the order. Why would they change the priority afterwards? Is there any way I can check the priority?
  7. I know my priority is 10 and my order date was Aug. 28. As of this morning still no build date or VIN number. I wonder if the fact that it is a loaded hybrid has anything to do with it. Would I have been better off going to a higher volume dealer or is that only a factor for dealer orders?
  8. How does distribution work anyway? Do the first orders get built first or is it just a crapshoot? The reason why I am asking is because I ordered in August and I still don't have a scheduled build date yet. I wonder when the ones that are being delivered right now were ordered.
  9. My loaded Fusion SE Hybrid the way I built it comes out to about $1000 less than a loaded AWD Titanium. I'll be interested to see if there is only that $1000 between the two or if there is some kind of additional markup on the Titanium hybrid.
  10. Awesome! I agree. The average person knows nothing about the new Fusion. When I told my family I was buying one they thought it was the Focus. I think the success for Ford is going to come when people start driving next to Fusions on the road and thinking "wow! what was that?"
  11. My Ford dealership has offered me window tinting for $500 and an alarm system for another $500 for my new Ford Fusion Hybrid. This seemed a little high for me so I started doing a little shopping on the side. A lot of aftermarket alarm systems come with remote start. However, the 2013 Fusion Hybrid Owner's manual states the following under its anti-theft system section: The system is not compatible with non-Ford aftermarket remote start systems. Use of these systems may result in vehicle starting problems and a loss of security protection. So I looked at the 2012 manual under using MyKey with remote start systems and it said: MyKey is not compatible with non-Ford approved aftermarket remote start systems. If you choose to install a remote start system please see your authorized dealer for a Ford approved remote start system. So are there really legitimate problems with using an aftermarket remote start system? Or is Ford just trying to force me to use their products?
  12. It's just a little bit of an upgrade from my current car which is a Ford Escort ZX2 I bought new in 1999 for $11K. =) The dealer offered me $250 trade in for it which is a serious lowball but I don't blame them that much. It still runs great so I will use it as a backup vehicle.
  13. Sorry, not trying to be negative on the forums here and I just realized how much it sounds that way. The more I think about it the more I realize I will be happy with my car and I would not be happy waiting another 6+ months.
  14. I suppose I could probably get my deposit back from my dealer if I really threw a fit about it. I've been a little aggravated with them anyway. Me: So do you cash this $1000 deposit check or just hold on to it? Salesman: We just hold on to it until the car comes. Here, fill out this form. Me: Is this for financing? Because I already have financing lined up. Salesman: It's just so we have your information on file as the person placing the order. Two days later I received a letter saying I was approved for financing and the check had been cashed. Supervisor: I'm very sorry about that. Our salesman is new and doesn't know all of our procedures. So, ya. Whatever. I will just stick with my SE Hybrid. The pushbutton start and ambient lighting were the things from the Titanium I wish I could have had.
  15. This really bums me out. I definitely would have chosen this if I had known it would be coming but I ordered a loaded Hybrid SE instead. My existing car would probably last another six months but I'm not going to cancel and be out my $1000 nonrefundable deposit for my existing order.
  16. Obviously wasn't thinking when I made my last post. I'm sure Ford will do what it can to get your car to you asap.
  17. I am also starting to get frustrated at the lack of a VIN after more than a month. My dealership isn't the best about updating me; I kind of have to harass them to get an update but I don't think they are blowing me off. I just don't think they have any information yet.
  18. I'm 6'4" also and ordered the sunroof. I don't see how it could seriously impact the headroom but I guess I'll be finding out soon.
  19. Dealer Code: F52008 (Fort Worth, TX) Order No: D006 Gray 2013 Fusion Hybrid Please and thank you.
  20. I get more excited every day now. That really is one sweet looking car.
  21. I have to agree with missileman. There should be no fundamental difference between dealer ordered and customer ordered cars so they should just keep their hands off of the special ordered customer cars. Some customers would take their business elsewhere and not come back. It doesn't make good business sense to me to mess with somebody's baby when you could take a random selection from dealer shipments.
  22. At least you have the satisfaction of knowing your car will be used to assure the safety of all the rest of ours? Sorry, that's about the only positive spin I can come up with for this. That stinks.
  23. Been lurking for a while but created an account finally. I ordered a fully loaded gray Fusion hybrid on 8/27. A month later I still don't have a date or VIN but I am trying to wait patiently (unsuccessfully)
  24. I am going to have to agree with everything in this thread. I ordered a Fusion and now that the dealership knows I am buying it and they already have my deposit they don't really have much incentive to track it for me. It would save everybody a headache if I could do it myself
  25. Awesome! I ordered my fusion nine days after you so hopefully I will have a date by next week
