  1. I'm assuming most of you have seen this but if not http://www.dailytech.com/Ford+Lowers+Mileage+Ratings+for+Six+Models+Lincoln+MKZ+Hybrid+to+See+7+MPG+Drop/article36048.htm
  2. Well - we are now at 2 weeks since the car has been at the dealership and still absolutely no idea or commitment as to when this part might become available :-( John
  3. Yes, I did get a Lincoln loaner - a MKX ..... the dealer has told me this is a part that they do not keep in stock .... and it cannot simply be removed and installed from another car ... They have told me they have no idea the ETA on a replacement ..... Uggh!
  4. Well folks - after 13 months of zero-compaint, pure joy experience with my 2013 MKZ Hybrid, the first unexplained issues has arrived. Early last week every single onboard electronic warning list up my dashboard like a Christmas Tree .... In summary - here is what I'm dealing with .... Hill Assist No Available warning light AirBag Warning light Lane Keeping System unavailable Adaptive Cruise Control non-functioning Traction control warning light Rear Camera parking aid not working Radio Flickering on and off Navigation system completely unreliable Service Engine soon "wrench" icon warning light My dealer has told me that it is a defective "Restraint control module"; unfortunately this is a part that is not readily available in stock and as such Ford/Lincoln is telling my dealer that mid-late June is a best case estimate for availability ... Anyone else have this happen to them? John
  5. Well, let's see - for staters ... she is unable to break 70% on braking score ever! second, she insists on flooring it out of every red light known to man! :-)
  6. Karl - what are you talking about ? are you kidding me or are you serious ....? <not sure> :-)
  7. driving habits is a definite factor in achieving/not achieving EPA numbers in the real world .... when my wife drives the car, she averages in the mid-high 30s where as when I drive it, I average in the mid 40s everyone is different ..... EPA numbers reflect what the car is capable of, not of what any specific driver is going to realize. Geez ....
  8. First update in a few weeks ...... but Lifetime numbers are continuing to creep up as far as MPG .... and the car continues its' great break in period ... last night my normal 16.5 miles commute home (half high way, half city roads) hit an all-time best with a 57.2 MPG and 97% break score .... highway speed 62 cruise, city driving between 35 and 42 all the way .... I haven't even taken the car in yet for the PCM update ....
  9. 1) I believe the tank is officially listed at 13.5 gallons .... 2) Keep in mind that gas pumps are all a little bit different in how they are calibrated as to when the first "click" on the pump sounds 3) It has been my experience that the car does take indeed take 13.5 as I once filled it with 13.15 gallons, when I knew I was practically empty 4) it looks like pumps will come anywhere from 1/2 to 1.75 gallons short of true "full" depending upon how they are calibrated 5) interestingly, the on screen digital counter display seems to be more accurate as to how much gas I have used than the physical gas pump gauge. I tend to hit the first empty chime when I am at between 10 and 10.5 gallons used. by the time I get to 11, the gas pump gauge tells me that I am empty and by 11.5 I see the "negative red" indicator on the gauge. 6) my gas gauge gets to "half-way" usually after the first 4.85 to 5.75 gallons used I have gotten into the habit of never pushing the tank beyond 11 or 11.5 gallons of used gas before I take it to be refilled! I am at 5k+ miles at the current moment - and my current fuelly numbers are below ....
  10. I was thinking the same thing myself ..... I am absolutely thrilled with the gas mileage I am getting .... I am regularly getting 40-45 MPG going to work each day (14 miles) and consistently getting 50+ on the same trip home. What "kills" my overall numbers (40.5 lifetime) are the short trips where my AC has to run at full throttle for the entire trip < 5 miles .... In these situations, I normally get between 20 & 25 MPG ...... I don't know if it is possible, but as tech guy, I'd love to see a more technical description of what this reprogramming will be doing
  11. Another great tank fill-up on my side ..... 11.398 Gallons, 502.9 miles, 44.12 MPG - roughly 60 percent city driving Lifetime as reported on the car is 40.2, hand calculated is 40.47!
  12. Woot! I just had my best tank so far ...... 463.7 miles, 11.061 gallons, 41.93 mpg; But here's the thing .... I am regularly getting 45+ mpg per my most normal trips of between 6 and 15 miles each way .... And I am also regularly getting well north of 90% on the braking scores ...... I'm up to 89% lifetime braking score ....
  13. there is a certain "subjectiveness" in this .... I am 6 foot tall ..... when I sit in the back of my car - I have no problem with legroom unless of course someone who likes the driver/passenger seat all the way back is in the front. (I compare it to where I would have the seat if I were driving) .... On the other hand, when I do sit in the back (legroom not withstanding), my head is definitely close to the headliner ..... I'm sure if the reviewer was like 5 foot 9 or shorter they would find these spaces "excellent" John
  14. I laughed when I read the "Green Car Reports" review .... 10 miles for your initial review? LOL ..... What's the point doing a review (At any level) if you are going to drive it 10 miles ?
  15. there are 2 recalls that are out there for us ...1 is for a fuel delivery module the other is for anyone who has an engine block heater ...... my dealer confirmed both - but did not know yet wether they impacted me or not ....
  16. http://www.freep.com/article/20130531/BUSINESS0102/305310087/Ford-Lincoln-MKZ-auto-May-sales-Farley And the actual numbers can be found here: http://www.goodcarbadcar.net/2012/10/lincoln-brand-sales-figures-usa-canada.html Note : there is a drop down on the right side that will let you break these numbers down by model within Lincoln or look at other manufacturers and their models as well!
  17. Well a couple of things .... 1) I always record both what the readout says as well as doing hand calculations .... through 5 fill-ups so far the 2 have never been of by more than 1.5 MPG; I am averaging (via hand calc) almost 39.5 MPG through approximately 2600 miles; my lifetime reading tells me 39.0 MPG 2) my adaptive lights definitely move as well ..... John
  18. Has anyone noticed any difference between regular and higher grade gas with their 2013 MKZ hybrids? just wondering .....
  19. and ......? link ? copy and paste of story? highlights? you have our curiosity .... :-)
  20. Keeps getting a bit better ..... 426.4 miles / 10.468 gallons, 40.7 MPG True Lifetime 39.26 MPG
  21. Has anyone else seen the new line of Lincoln commercials yet? http://www.ispot.tv/ad/7Zrz/2013-lincoln-mkz-dog There is one for the MKT as well I believe!
  22. Ahhhhh ..... sorry for the confusion ..... how many miles do you have on the car total so far?
