  1. If you do a lot of parallel parking and haven't used your parking assist technology, you are missing a wonderful experience. Parking has never been a problem for me, but using the parking assist is a delightful experience. To park on the right side, just push the parking assist button on the stack, then drive slowly past the cars where you want to park. As soon as the sensors find a spot where your car will fit, a red light illuminates in the instrument panel to stop your car. It then tells you to remove your hands from the steering wheel and put the car in reverse. With your foot on the brake, the steering wheel turns and the car moves into the open location. Your car sensors will tell you how close you are to the car from the rear, when you hear them, stop the car and you should be parked just the right distance from the curb. To do the same thing on the left side, just turn your left turn signals on and the parking assist and you will have the same experience as the right side. If you are timid about trying the assist, like I initially was, I practiced in my neighborhood. Try it- You will like it. The manual also has good information.
  2. My MKZ "check adaptive headlight " message has appeared 2 times since April 4,2013, the day of delivery. In each occurrence, which happens right after starting the engine, I stopped the engine and restarted it again without the warning appearing. From those instances, It would seem the problem is related to the cars computer. In both instances, I believe I just touched the start button, rather than completely push it down. My experience with laptop and desktop computers reveals similar circumstances. The sound or the video may not activate, however rebooting the instrument fixes the problem. Hope this helps with your own situation. I do not have a roof panel on my car.
  3. As a former owner of the Lincoln Zephyr, MKZ and now the 2013 MKZ, I offer these suggestions to improve driving safety as well as making the controls and messages more accessible with better readability. Here are my comments and suggestions: Making the MKZ Dash and Steering Wheel User Friendly Steering Wheel Controls for Cruise Control, Audio, Voice Command, Phone answer and hangup are not located where they are easily accessible without taking eyes off the road.(bottom of wheel) Further they are not easily readable. A very unsafe design placement. For MKZ, right steering wheel button can only access Phone, Compass and Entertainment in the LCD window in the middle dash panel. MKZ Hybrid can access Navigation, Phone, Entertainment and Climate- why is there a difference? Navigation only gives basic information. It should be as good as the hang on Tom Tom, Garmin or Magellan that sell for less than $300, which provide Real Speed, Distance to next turn, direction of turn and street turning on to, Total Time and miles Traveled, time and miles left to travel, Estimated time of arrival based on real time and speed, Speed required to arrive at a specific time and easy entry for addresses and waypoints ,when setting up a trip. Suggest Lincoln Motor Company provide life time map updates for free. Extend Steering column longer so seat can be better adjusted for larger people. Locate Emergency Brake button at a higher easier accessible location . Make Brake light brighter in instrument panel.. Change color of lights used in instrument panel so they can be read in the sunlight and glare. Better directions for activating automatic Windshield Wipers. A control to change sensitivity of Automatic Headlights activation so they activate sooner at sundown and sunrise. (Presently need to add a sunglass lens to activate before dark.) Make Ride settings easier to change with a touch control on Center Stack or Glass instrument panel.
  4. The Lincoln Wooden Walnut box was supposed to be given at the time you took possession of your car. I did not know about the gift box until I completed a survey from Lincoln, which asked if I had received the gift box, to which I replied no. Sent a message to the dealership customer service rep, who was had not heard about the box. Thirty minutes later, a message was received from the customer service rep that she had the box and had put it on the back shelf for me to pick up. Since I did not feel this was the type of service the new Lincoln Motor Company was advertising, I responded that I was not coming by in the near future and suggested she be resourceful and figure out how to get it to me. I won't go into the remainder of the snafu, but I eventually had to pick it up from the salespersons desk from one of the other salespersons. Now what is wrong with this picture? First of all the dealership was blindsided by the survey, which asked customers to fill out and answer a question about the gift box. Secondly, once the dealership found the gift box, that should have been delivered at car delivery, no apparent attempt was made to expeditiously deliver it to the customer( I live 10 miles from the dealership). Instead of the dealership catering to the customer, it became the customer informing them of the gift and then going back to pick it up. (customer catering to the dealership). As for the gift box, it is beautiful and is perfect to store your fobs and flash drive. The 4 gig Flash drive, built in China, is not a standard flash drive we are accustomed to. If you look closely at it's plug end, you will note it does not have a slot that is used to keep the drive stable in the USB port. Although it will work, it;s weight, due to the Lincoln emblem, makes it fit sloppily in the USB Port, which could cause either a short or not make contact. .
  5. I would call Lincoln customer service and question the amount you received. I waited 8 months to get my car and received 1/60 of the total price for my extended wait.
  6. Followed your recommendation and am pleased to say that all 4 windows now work on one touch. Thank you. John
  7. My MKZ-non hybrid works for one touch down, but not up. I think it is supposed to work both ways, but will pass that deficirncy back to Lincoln Service. John
  8. I think you are my missing my question, which refers to the message center directly in front of the steering column, not the screen in the center of the stack, that has Navigation, Phone, Entertainment and Climate in the corners of the display. The plus and minus, located on each side of the Light Control switch ,refers to the interior lighting, not the message centers. The message center on the left contains vehicle data, the one on the right Lincoln synch information My car will be examined at the dealership tomorrow to determine how to correct the message center display for a Navigation equipped car. Lincoln tech center is reviewing how to brighten or add contrast to the display. Their simulator showed exactly what I had reported.
  9. I have tried those controls in daylight without any positive effect.for the message LCDs.
  10. Does anyone who has purchased the 2013 MKZ figured out how to brighten the message LCD so the data can be seen during the daylight. My Message center is the color of the Message, I.e. Phone, Navigation(Green), Entertainment (Purple) and Climate(brown). I do not see where it can be made brighter. Or am I the only one who is having a problem reading the message center information
  11. Ghostrider: Sorry you have had negative results with the Adaptive Lighting malfunction. Suggest you elevate the problem to your dealership. I have passed my Navigation communication problem to the dealership, but still no response. John
  12. Ghostrider Just did an an Adaptive Light test to determine if lights were moving right and left. Be sure you have your light switch set on Auto. When it is dark outside, face your car so the lights can be shining on a still object, i.e. garage door or other solid object. Start your car and observe the movement of your lights. Mine moved right than back to center again. According to a card I received with my car, the lights do not actually adapt to the steering unless the car is moving at least 3 mph. There will be a 2 to 5 second delay for the system to operate when the vehicle is driven, Let me know your results. John
  13. While checking out my message center, I noticed the adaptive head lights could not be changed. I do remember one could select auto high beam. I did not observe last night if they were working correctly. I didn't notice any changing of the lights from high to low beam nor did I notice them following curves.I do understand Adaptive headlights are supposed to work when the light switch is set to automatic. I did find a build problem with Lincoln Touch. When equipped with the navigation package ,Navigation is supposed to be one of the 4 selections in the message center. If no navigation package, Compass is supposed to appear. I presently have Entertainment, Compass and Phone. I should have Entertainment, Climate, Phone and Navigation. My salesman has been informed of the problem and is pursuing the correction. He had also noticed the Compass symbol yesterday, but didn't say anything. Guess Quality Control needs someone to check Quality Control.
  14. Ordered September 2012, built Feb 5, 2013, delivery 4 April 2013. (8 Months total) Car was delivered in outstanding condition. LCS called on 3 April to inform me the car was at the Ramp in local delivery area. Upon further discussion, he said it had arrived April 1 at the ramp. Upon taking delivery, salesperson said it was delivered to dealership on 3 April, but he was not working that day so no call to me was made from the dealership. In any case, I have possession of the car and will now get acquainted with the various communication and technical features. Did notice the dash defroster vents reflected in the windshield, message center words and numbers to small and you have to be careful where you rest your hand on the stack or you will surely either touch S or change the climate control. The touch areas are very sensitive. I do hope there are no other people waiting for their car that was pre-ordered before production began in January 2013. If there are, you have my sympathy. I do want to compliment my LCS contact, who called me weekly and kept me informed of the car status as best he could. Time at dealership to take possession was 3.5 hours and I didn't finance. Will check in periodically to give an operational report- Now I need to get familiar with the car and compose a constructive letter to Lincoln. John
  15. Mine has been ordered for the same length of time. Built 5 February 2013. Lincoln informs me that the car has been shipped with a delivery date of week of April 4. Dealer has already sold 5 cars delivered as stock. No more preordering for me.
  16. Thanks for the info. Mine is still pristine with about 50,000K . Actually, in checking NADA trade-in as well as new car values, the trade-in increased in value and the new car decreased in value.
  17. Has any of you, who 5-8 months ago, pre-orderd your MKZ with a trade-in MKZ, been asked by your dealership to renegotiate the price of the trade-in?
  18. I ordered mine late September 2012, built 5 February 2013 and still not here. Dealer tells me they have received 5 cars for stock and have them sold. Now folks, how does that make you feel how dealers and company treats loyal buyers who pre order their cars. Never did this before and will not do it again. Seems policy is: last in first out, make a lot of noise and you will go to the head of the line. Believe the early advertising, remain calm and respectful, expecting you will be taken care of as a loyal customer of the brand and you will get squashed like a bug. This has not been a fulfilling experience for my bucket list.
  19. You need to call them that you have taken delivery.
  20. There is a Current story from Ford that addresses the MKZ production delays and the current production from Hermosillo. All should read. It is located in Automotive News, search for Ford News.
  21. Can anyone tell me how to log on to the Vehicle Visibility Report to monitor status of MKZ?
  22. See page 53 in your Owners manual , Keys and Remote Control, for pictures and directions.
  23. Cyberman My car has been on order since September 2012. It has a build date of 5 February 2013. the status of this car (M304 L2G 3LN6L2G92DR807655 Mkz would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance. Jgeorg
  24. From my observation of the various threads, it would appear those who have received their cars have ordered hybrids. Am I incorrect for this assumption?
  25. xgman- did you receive two key fobs? If you did, were they both programmed?
