  1. Liari, Have you test-driven a MKZ in any configuration as yet (Hybrid, 2.0L Ecoboost, or 3.7L V6)?? If not, you've got to try all three before deciding on the MKZ as a possible option or not. I have done extensive test drives in each one and I too am now wavering, but for different reasons. I have followed the design of the MKZ from when the first concept drawings came out. I have loved the looks of it ever since. And then when I found out about all the features it would have (pano roof, advanced technology, clean interior design, etc.) and that it would be available as a Hybrid that got 45/45 mpg, I was darn sure I would own one this year! But now I'm not so sure. In fact, I'm pretty convinced that I will NOT buy a Hybrid if I even buy an MKZ. I really, really, REALLY wanted to like they Hybrid MKZ and for it be THE car for me. But I guess I'm too much of a lead-foot power-junkie. The 188hp and 129lbs-ft of torque it has just feels too weak IMO. And if the darn thing will only return MPG in the 30's (especially if driven in the more "spirited" style that I tend to drive), then I'd rather give up some MPG and either get the 2.0L Ecoboost or the big V6 and not feel like the car is underpowered. Plus NOW I'm wavering on the MKZ entirely because of another new car I had for an extended test-drive. For a few $K more, I could buy the new Infiniti Q50 Hybrid that has 360 HP and gets 28 city, 34 hwy, and 30 combined. And it is a full-on sports sedan rocket car! Wow, is it FUN to drive! It has tons of power and returns better mpg than the MKZ in either the Ecoboost or V6. Of course the down side besides the additional cost, is that the Q50 doesn't have some of the many amenities of the MKZ (e.g. Air Conditioned front seats, heated rear seats, power trunk lid, parallel park feature, pano glass roof, heated steering wheel (only available on AWD models of Q50).
  2. I've always really liked how the Lincoln.com's "Build & Price" shows the Tuxedo Black MKZ in either the 103A or 203A package - especially with the Pano Roof because it is SUPER black (more so than it actually is in real life). Which has made me wish that the 19" painted wheels were darker like the website makes them appear to be. Well I guess a Lincoln dealer in NJ has thought the same thing and has taken a V6 AWD 103A with a Pano Roof and modified the wheels and front grill to be all painted black. Plus they have made the rear tail "Z" red. Maybe they're calling it a "Red Label" MKZ? Lol. Here's the pics of the outside of it from the dealers' site. And if anyone just has to have this particular one, the dealer link is at the bottom. From here: http://lincolnofwayne.com/NEW-YORK-CITY/For-Sale/New/Lincoln/MKZ/2013-3-7L-V6-AWD-Black-Car/19424967/
  3. I emailed back and forth today with the Director of a local Lincoln dealership that use to work for Ford Motor Company marketing about this and he got in touch with some of his contacts in Detroit. They positively confirmed to him that these seats are now available for production in 2014 model MKZs. Now I don't know how much of any stock me or anyone else can put into this, but that is better news than "coming soon" or "later availability". We'll see what happens with people like "MicKeyZ" here and possibly myself soon if I place a 2014 custom order.
  4. MicKeyZ, That's great that you got a VIN with them! Please post back when you get any updates on when it is suppose to hit the Hermosillo assembly line and how long it will take to get to your SoCal dealer.
  5. So when the 2013 MKZ came out, these were mentioned as having "late availability" (what was suggested as to be coming out later in the model year). But now this isn't coming until the 2014 model and even then it still has "later" availability. Just chatted online with a person from the Lincoln website's Concierge service and they told me that the Active Motion seats will not be available until "late Fall" (e.g. October- November of this year). And that is probably a BIG maybe. What's the deal with these seats? Can't the engineers at Hermosillo figure out how to put them into the MKZ? Aren't they already being put into the current MKS? I beginning to think that these might be a mythical creature a la a unicorn that will never actually exist. I'd love to have these on the car, but don't want to wait till this time next year for them!!
  6. Greetings 2013 MKZ Owners! I have a question for you. I'm thinking very seriously about soon joining your ranks as a new MKZ owner and just wanted some feedback on the pivotal Hybrid vs. Non-Hybrid - a.k.a. "power vs. mpg" issue. I've test driven all three engine models a couple of weeks ago and of course the 3.7L V6 was punchy and fast. But I'm VERY interested in fuel economy. So I would eliminate the V6 probably and narrow my choices down to the 2.0L Turbo Ecoboost and the 2.0L Hybrid. In my short test-drive of both I thought the Ecoboost was a plenty of power and accelerated quickly and quite nicely - not that much under the V6. And when driving the Hybrid - though I was prepared for it to be a little less so, I thought it was more sluggish than I expected. I realize those were quick test drives and I was still getting acclimated to the cars and the features, layout, etc.. So I already know I need to go back and test drive each again for a much longer time period. I'm even inquiring with my local dealer about the "Date Night" program where I could get one for 24-48 hours to really get a feel for it. Which brings me (finally) to my question. Those of you who have purchased a Hybrid, did you do so just for the MPG? Did you feel like you were giving up some power for the much better fuel economy? Or do you really feel that the Hybrid motor isn't that under-powered vs. the Ecoboost? I WANT to like the Hybrid and want the greater fuel economy. But for the past 30 years I've driven sports cars and vehicles with big powerful motors and tend to drive quick and fast as a driver. I know I've been paying for that in poor gas mileage due to the cars AND my driving habits. And I know to get the best MPG, I would have to change and not be as much of a "lead-foot" (and the Hybrid MKZ could be the car to teach/train me in that regard). But I'm just not sure at this point which would be the best engine choice for me. I guess I'm lamenting over whether to go all in on the Hybrid and not have as much raw horsepower & torque on tap or to go a little in with just the Ecoboost and still have the pep and torque of that 2.0L Turbo. Any thoughts from owners who may have already settled this question for themselves and how they feel about it now?? Many thanks! Ron
