  1. A little education goes a long way. I'm tier and have less than 1 year seniority (though I'm not sure you can call it seniority when I'm literally at the bottom of the list) but I understood when I took the job that there was little I can do about it. I also know that theres A LOT I have to learn about how things work. That being said, you want change, go to meetings and voice your opinion, you have a voice so use it rather than bitch about it on the internet. Trying to start up a new union is doomed to failure. UAW has too much power to allow that to happen. Yes I know its not what it once was but they still have enough leverage to squash any new union from entering their territory.

Afdor, you are onto something with your divide and conquer statement. It seems to be in the company's best interest.

  2. Plant letter that was handed out prior to layoff said Call Marvin for the first week on April 10-11th.. Marvin for the second week on the week of April 21st.

When did you get this? I never got this letter, and I certainly didn't hear anyone talking about it on the floor like normal.

  3. The first 2 weeks of April have been confirmed by the union. Unofficially, including those 2 weeks, theres a total of 6 weeks between now and August, not including holiday shutdown in July. Ask your committeman

  4. Diesel engines don't have spark plugs - they rely on high compression and heat to ignite the air/fuel mixture. That's why when you shut off a gas engine and it keeps running without spark it's called "dieseling". That's also why they have glow plugs to heat up the combustion chamber in cold weather.

If I'm not mistaken, arent the glow plugs used in lieu of a traditional spark plug? I'm not 100% sure, I've never owned or worked on a diesel.

If that's true that also means that small nitro engines for R/C cars/planes/watercraft are technically diesel engines as well right?

  5. IUAW at DTP here this morning spewing the half hour dues raise BS with a letter from Bob King. CON CON better be listening to the membership, cause if this gets passed by a bunch of YES men...the future of the UAW is bleak.

MAP C-Crew got a handout on that yesterday. Seemed coniving and condesending to me. I may be new and still have a lot to learn, but something just didnt seem right bout the whole thing
