  1. For this reason I was hoping the Fusion would be getting the 9 speed transmission this year. It needs a taller top gear.
  2. Not me. I'm no lead foot but am lucky to get 30mpg when driving flat 70mph. Mid 20's mixed driving on my 1.5 EB. Hope your great mileage stays that way!
  3. I'm disappointed that bronze colors are gone. Wish I could get terracotta interior with base or select trims.
  4. Has anyone driven one yet? My dealer said the 2017 has some enhancements to ANC to make it even quieter. Any other differences in driving experience from 2016 to 2017 with the 2.0 EB engine?
  5. For anyone that's driven a 2017, is there any change in the way the car drives? For anyone considering a platinum model would you also consider an MKZ? I test drove a 2016 MKZ today and was very impressed. The dealer told me the 2017 (which he has seen) is much improved over 2016. A base model isn't only a couple grand more than a fusion titanium but you can't get a sunroof without upgrading to the Select model.
  6. Start/Stop. Are you driving your 2017 model yet? What do you think? I am not a fan of these systems in the rental cars I've had with the feature. I just can't believe the constant shutdown/startup of the engine is good for it in the long term.
  7. As I posted on another thread I'm very disappointed that Ford did away with the Bronze Fire exterior and the terracotta package for 2017. I really like the look of the 2017 titanium light gray interior vs. the SE's (more use of black carpet/accent trim on the titanium), but not enough to pay that ridiculous difference in price. There is a very significant difference in seat bolstering in the titaniums. Much more pronounced. I'm about 6'2", and by no means oversized, and the titanium seats encase me like a cocoon. In my SE, I've found the seats supremely comfortable for long drives.
  8. I've been playing with the Build and Price Tool. An SE with the 2.0 engine, luxury package, tech package, and sunroof comes out to $29,575. A Titanium with the sunroof comes out to $31,840. For this $2,265 difference, all I can tell that you get with the Titanium is a sportier seat, a better stereo, and a better looking exhaust. That doesn't seem like a very good value... what else am I missing?
  9. Thanks for the tips. Ceramic interior looks great, I just would want to make sure I could wear jeans in it!
  10. I've got another 15 or so lease payments on my 2014 SE which I'd consider trading in on a 2017. I have a few disappointments with the 2017 models. My favorite interior and exterior colors are both gone. Terracotta with bronze fire. Only other non black option is a very light gray that looks like it might be tough to keep clean. I want the power of the 2.0 engine which is even more essential to avoid stop/start system which now comes with ALL 1.5 EB engines. Car needs a taller top gear to reduce Rpms and improve mileage. I'll bet this comes for 2018 model year.
  11. I've had interesting mileage experience with the Fusions. We rented a 2014 SE to drive (with 1.5 Ecoboost) from Wisconsin to Michigan. If the dashboard mileage computer was accurate, I could not achieve 30mpg on the freeway. Yes, I was resetting the computer on the highway to capture only highway mileage. Best I was getting was 28 to 29. With my Fusion (same engine) I'm reviewing the mileage results captured over a 30 minute average. I'm consistently around 30mpg, mostly with highway miles but with some city miles as well. Seems a lot better than the rental. I'm having a little trouble finding customers' real-world mileage reports on Fusions with the ecoboost engines.
  12. No pics yet but just leased a 2014 Fusion SE. It's silver, with the black leather interior and painted black 18" rims. Looks very sporty. Despite having owned or leased four Acuras and a Mercedes C Class, I love the way the Fusion looks, drives, and rides. The Fusion and the 3G Acura TL are the quietest cars I've ever owned. The options I went with are the luxury package, MyFordTouch (a MUST, to get the automatic temperature controls if nothing else), sunroof, and GPS. The car also came equipped with the reverse sensor and remote start (an option I didn't even know was available; never saw it on the build your own feature on Ford's website). I REALLY wanted a 2015 bronze fire with the terracotta package but I decided to save about $25 a month and lease the 2014. The terracotta leather is richer-looking than the black, and the package throws the more supportive seats from the Titanium into the SE. That said I find the SE seats extremely comfortable, if less supportive than the Titaniums. Great lumbar support, no back pain even after long drives. I drove both the SE and Titanium extensively, and didn't feel that the bigger engine and better stereo were worth the cost. I think the 1.5 ecoboost has enough power and (presumably) better mileage. I am questioning that high 30's MPG figure though. I hear I'll get better mileage once the ecoboost breaks in.
  13. I have not driven the hybrid or Energi Fusion, or the MKZ. I have driven the S, SE, and Titanium Fusions. I have not owned Lexus, but I have owned 4x Acuras and a Mercedes. That said I was supremely impressed with the ride, refinement, and very quiet noise levels of all the Fusions that I drove. The quietest car I'd ever owned was my 3G TL and the Fusion is quieter yet. On par with the new Acura TLX which I also recently test drove and is being lauded for its quietness. That said I would not recommend the 19" wheels. I doubt you could get those for the Energi but you could for the MKZ. One of the Titaniums I drove had 19" rims and while I wouldn't call the ride harsh, it was certainly more jittery than the 18" wheels. Coming from a Lexus I would think you would notice this. Either the MKZ or the Energi Fusion ought to be quieter yet than the gas Fusions!
