  1. Have any of you heard what is happening in the world?? You do realize that the world's economy is shaky at best. Now with terrorist attacks, refugees flooding into European countries, more and more security needed and the possible beginning of WWIII, the world's economy could easily crash! Do you people really think that Ford can count on making billion dollar profits every year from now on??? They have to plan for the down times. Times are good for auto sales right now, so we were able to get some things back. If things are still great in 4 years, we will get even more back. Now is not the time to strike. Only 7 years ago Ford mortgaged everything, even the blue oval, just to stay alive! We are making gains, and we will continue to make gains in each contract if sales are still strong! With current world events, who knows when the next crash will happen! We also live in a right to work state. Do you think people will respect a picket line?? Do you think you are irreplaceable?? I hope you have a lot of money saved, because if you plan on striking for COLA and the end of 2 tier, it will never happen! Good luck, everyone!!
  2. If tier 2 votes no on this contract, then I say let them keep their current pay and insurance!
  3. Voting yes as well! This is a great contract and I look forward to more gains next time around. We cannot have everything back all at once, considering the global economy is still very fragile. If things continue on the upswing, we will gain much more in the future! Trades will never be happy, unfortunately.
  4. No it did not take me 8 years to get to full pay, but 20 years ago things were different. I did work part time for quite a while, have seen many ups and downs and have given up a lot over the past decade. I know the younger generation has it harder, but without an education, this is the best job you will ever have. The legacy workers have not always had it easy, most of us have been through very rough times. Bottom line, quit acting like a victim! You have a health care package that is worth thousands, raises and a path to full pay. If that is not enough for you, go apply at McDonald's. If you want to strike, keep in mind that this is a right to work state, and there will be a line of people a mile long waiting to happily take your job.
  5. So what you are saying is that no one should have to work at a job for 6 years to get full pay and be able to buy house and be secure? Buddy, get a clue!! People work for years at jobs before having enough security to do the things they want to do! Your sense of entitlement is mind boggling!
  6. The company can never promise anything! The auto industry is dependent upon the economy, which is still unstable globally! No disrespect to tier 2, but you have only seen the good times with Ford Motor Company. Your new health care package alone is worth tens of thousands!! Many tier 1 employees were part time for years before becoming full time. You should be thankful that you have a path to full pay. You have to work your way up to full pay, just like you would at any other job! If you are not happy at Ford Motor Company, then quit and go find another job!
  7. Exactly! We live in a global economy, things will never be like they were in the past. If your free health care, raises, bonuses, profit sharing, free legal service and tuition assistance offends you, then by all means quit and go find another job! We are not getting everything back in this contract, but we are making some gains. Times are great right now, but who knows what the future holds. Companies are in business to make money, they cannot give us everything back at once not knowing what the economy will be like in four years. If things are still great in four more years, we will make more gains. No one ever promised you that you would get everything back all at once! And tier 2 employees, you need to go price the health care plan that you are getting for free! That alone is worth hundreds every month.
  8. Those of you who plan on voting no on this contract, obviously have no idea what is happening in the world today. We pay nothing for health care, we are getting raises and pretty substantial bonuses. All things that most people would love to have! Maybe we will make more gains next contract, but this is great start! I am voting yes!
  9. This contract will not be settled by Thanksgiving. After Thanksgiving we skate right into the Christmas season, and I doubt that the IUAW or the Company negotiators will be willing to change their holiday plans, so only time will tell if our contact will be ratified by the end 0f 2015. If it is better for Ford to pay bonuses before the end of the year, they may get it done, but only if Ford pushes for it to happen. Without a push from Ford to wrap this up in 2105, I think we will be voting after the new year.
  10. So after the 1-2 weeks it will take to ratify the GM contract (if it is in fact ratified) and the upcoming holidays, I wonder if our contract will be settled, voted on and ratified by years end? I would think that Ford would want this settled before years end, but will the IUAW be willing to work through holidays and scheduled days off?
