  1. I agree with that BUT, what if the installed mod causes a major failure of other components?
  2. No problem. Truce? I admit I come off sometimes as brash, because my lack of time causes me to compile a paragraph into one sentence. I really have no problem with mods, I have no problem with after market, BUT I do not agree with Engine mods while in the warranty period especially for the diesels........... Like I said earlier, the car lines dont take on the "conditions" the trucks do (in most cases)....... and I have had so many "owners" lie, cheat, and try to steal while knowing THEY caused the problem. I dont like to be lied to probably any more than you do, and I have to deal with it everyday...... From hence forth if I input, I will try to be more gracious and to the point... My apologies if I offended you.
  3. Actually I did stretch it a bit unintentionally. I did a 3 year stint between my SM jobs for 3M as Automotive Representative, but with the family the travel was too much..... I had 5 States.
  4. And a Service Manager at 19, yes I was. I grew up in the business and the local GM/Chrysler (dual Dealership) wanted me to try it. I did not think I could do it and they wanted me to try it. I did, and it was not easy at all but I did it. You arent born a Manager, and its definately not for everyone. Putting a guy in a suit and giving him a title doesnt do it either. I am not actually a SM anymore, (as of April). I am titled Service Coordinator. I work under the Operations Manager and I am responsible for the daily operations of 3 Service Departments at one store. Our Group has 29 stores total, I am over seperate Ford, Lincoln Mercury, and Volvo departments and as of friday we acquired the local Mazda franchise. I also oversee and handle all warranty up to the actual input in the Aces system to be paid. I was with my first store 10 years, my last store 14 years, I did a startup store for a friend (last year) before moving here with no job. (I am so arrogant, I knew I could find one..) :shades: Unfortunately, this is all I know, its all I have ever done, and its a pain in the royal ass, but it pays real good................ :reading:
  5. You two go back on this string and read it. You made assumptions and took this into a whole new direction.
  6. I wasnt going to reply again but I do have to tell you Im alot younger than you may think. Im in my 40's. I do though have the practical working experience and background to make an informed decision to base an opinion on.
  7. Thanks for bringing that article back up, that was a long time ago, but still reads true. Articles like that came from alot of good people, (read the archives), and forced Ford to listen to us as a group. Blue Oval News was once a part of that and if you do a search you may get some articles from this site a few years back. I havnt looked...................Also Wards Auto, Dealer Magazine, Motor Age, WTDY Detroit, IAM, just a few things to keep you busy laughing. I think if you google search "Jeff Colgrove FlatRateTech" you will get a few more pages worth.
  8. Asslick,? turdhead,?, 'Im yada, yada, yada,..........." , and Im an arrogant asshole? I dont know what kind of internet funhouse you kids think you may be running but it reminds me of a Beavis and Butthead act. Any validity you may have was lost by the childish presentation. Reminds me of some of the know it all 25 year olds I have had the displeasure of working with through the years. BON will never change, always seems to be a haunting ground for idiots. (Other than the Ford Employee Forum), this site is the pits.
  9. You guys/kids tear up nothing over here and never have. My list of accolades doe not alter or add validity to any opinion, only offers a background for reference. These master statuses were all reattained this year. Once again, you know nothing of this system, but definately have an opinion, which you present as being correct, while having no "accolades" to support your opinion. I see you have been an outstanding member of BON for a long time. Ever dring a beer with Robert Lane? I have. You know nothing about me. If you had been around here a few years, you would. Goodnight children.
  10. Why is training and working experience always classified as arrogance by those who know not? You people do not understand what you read. A day laborer from a milk factory arguing automotive and highly skilled on the properties of stainless because he walks by milk tanks everyday? .... And Im arrogant?
  11. ebritt, do you have any comprehension abilities? How do you take what I say and construe it into the crap you spew back? How old are you? I am also not a Ford Technician. While I am Master Certified as a Technician, I am also a Master Certified Service Manager, Service Advisor, Warranty Administrator, Service Coordinator, Body Shop Manager. and Parts Manager, with 30 years of Management as of November this year. What are your qualifications to argue anything? Did you use the reference material? Do you deal with this every day? You are what I refer to as a mouthpiece. Use your head son for more than holding your hair.
  12. I would like to see any post I made stating that aftermarket parts are junk. I think they may be great quality in some cases, and I also never said anything about "all" parts in general and modifications, but there are alot of applications to not modify with ENGINE air intakes and programmers, do some research on the programmers and I have yet to find one that doesnt have the disclaimer "not for street use", or verbage to that effect. My statement is that especially with the diesel, it really doesnt need any of that crap, and if you modify it, change engine working factory perameters, you should not have any warranty coverage IF the modifications change ANY factory spec while in the base warranty coverage. After market parts change the factory working specs of that vehicle, or as which it is delivered as designed by the manufacturer. YOU play, YOU pay.
  13. This is a dead ender so I wont keep going but for information go to www.knfilters.com and do some reading. In essence, K&N assumes absolutely no liability other than a defective product. They also take exception to a Dealer telling someone they will void thier warranty IF they use a K&N product, but also say that a manufacturer may void the warranty after proving the K&N was suspect in the damage caused. And they are ok with that.......? As for the statement made that the OE filter is designed to fit neatly is rediculous. Ever seen a 6.0 OE air filter? Ford even redesigned that filter for better filtration to trap the "small" micron particles. k&N runs thier tests with "large" particles......... Most people dont run their Mustangs down dirt roads, mines, gravel pits ect.... may never have problems. These diesel trucks are designed the way they are for a reason. Why not oil up some panty hose and hang it over the air intake? Great flow, birds cant fly down the turbo. Thats all its there for right?
  14. Sparky, you wouldnt believe some of the shit we see. They stick on K&N filters that absolutely do not filter like the OE is designed, chipping them to dump more fuel, unhooking the filter minders, tapping into the MAF`s wiring ect. They tear up the truck then take all this shit off before they tow it in ranting "warranty"......... I have had 3 tow ins in the past 2 weeks from "other" Dealerships where Ford had denied warranty coverage, then they removed the aftermarket junk and tried to sneak it past us for repairs....I caught the last joker out in our parking lot after hours removing parts, didnt even rebolt the OE stuff back on, and forgot to remove the propane nipples....... The thing that pisses me off is they modify the vehicle, beat the shit out of it, then break it and try to lie themselves into a "free" repair. pathetic.
  15. Why do you think Fords air filter is built like it is? Check out the warranty denials for the dusted engines. Why does Ford not offer a programmer/chip/juice box, what ever you want to call it? Because it changes the parameters and does things like overboost and blow head gaskets. Why do all of these aftermarket parts tell you specifically there is no warranty and to use at your own risk? Dont go spouting shit you know nothing about. You change the working parameters of that engine you are asking for trouble.
  16. Daniel Howes, Detroit News Ford Edge: Buyers rave, critics rant Ford Motor Co.'s critical Edge crossover is living up to its name. On Thursday, the Dearborn automaker hailed news that consumers ranked it the "most appealing new vehicle" in the J.D. Power and Associates annual APEAL survey, the latest in a growing string of accolades from the people who matter most -- those who actually buy the cars. But they're not the only folks who matter. Consumer Reports, the bible for many car buyers, ranks the Edge 15th among 18 midsize SUVs, calls it "a disappointment" and "no challenge to the four-year-old Nissan Murano" in its August issue, set to hit newsstands Tuesday but already arriving at the homes of subscribers. Talk about living on the edge. "The engine provides quick acceleration, but it lacks refinement," the magazine says. "The handling is lackluster, fit and finish is subpar, and the transmission is not as smooth or responsive as it should be. The Edge feels lumbering, with pronounced body lean and slow, vague steering." Yes, despite kudos for its safety ratings, engine performance and ride, it gets worse for the Edge. The interior lacks "the fine detailing of other vehicles in this group. Hard, unpleasantly textured plastic is abundant." Adds Douglas Love, communications manager at the magazine: "It is certainly not at the top of the pack in mid-sized SUVs. We had hopes they would be more competitive in their segment." They're not the only ones. Edge has the good looks and solid package of a hit. But CR's smackdown, echoed by others, says two things about Ford today: First, it whiffed on its chance to hit a home run. Second, the lackluster endorsement could hurt the product, meaning CEO Alan Mulally's Ford has a long way to go to get products right the first time, not two years later. Close is not good enough Yet as critical as critics are of the Edge and its sister Lincoln MKX, which CR ranked 16th out of 18 in its July survey of luxury SUVs, evidence coming from the market suggests the Edge is exceeding Ford's expectations. Annual sales are pegged to reach 120,000, up from the original goal of 100,000. In May, Edge outsold segment-leading Honda Pilot, as well as Toyota Highlander, Nissan Murano and the Michigan-built GMC Acadia and the Saturn Outlook (which, by the way, the allegedly Detroit-hating CR rates among the best midsize SUVs). Good for the Edge, but cannibalizing sales from the mainstay Explorer SUV amid soaring gas prices isn't necessarily tantamount to being a guaranteed hit, either. "What it says is from a standing start, word is getting around that Edge is a terrific value," says George Pipas, Ford's sales analyst. "A great critical review doesn't mean you'll succeed in the marketplace. And a lousy review doesn't mean you'll fail." Case in point: The Nissan Titan pickup was hailed as a death blow to Detroit's stranglehold on the rich pickup market. But mostly it's just been a disappointment, bedeviled by quality glitches and lackluster sales. Another case in point: GM's Chevrolet HHR, trashed by critics, is now seen as a credible entry into a segment that's growing because higher gas prices and big SUV fatigue are driving consumers into smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles. 'Done with launch, abandon' Barely six months into its life, it's too early to tell whether the Edge will end up like the Titan or the HHR. But it's not too soon to conclude that Ford needs to address Edge's sloppy fit and finish, to refine its suspension and to add a power lift gate -- an indefensible omission for an all-new entry into this segment. The '08 Edge, Ford is expected to confirm today at a briefing in Dearborn, will offer a power lift gate, enhanced navigation, Ford's all-new "Sync" infotainment venture with Microsoft, new colors, upgraded interiors, 20-inch wheels and a new appearance package. "We're done with launch and abandon," says a Ford source familiar with the thinking behind the effort to revive the Blue Oval by continually upgrading products, pricing them right and marketing them aggressively. Already, there are glimmers of success. Residual values for new Ford models -- one of the purest metrics for assessing comparative value in the market -- are running roughly 11 percentage points higher than the vehicles they replaced, according to Automotive Leasing Guide figures. Ford expects the '08 Taurus, the renamed Five Hundred sedan that should have been called Taurus from day one, to be 10 points higher in value than the Chevy Impala and roughly equal to the Toyota Avalon. Great. But where would Ford be today if it had done it all right the first time? My guess is that it wouldn't be on the edge. Daniel Howes' column runs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. 17. Sales volume does impact the numbers. SLTS also impacts the numbers. Ford dropped the warranty pay times 30% across the board. They also squeezed the vendors to death so the parts are now cheap. When Ford recalls a part the price drops to nothing. Dont let thier voodoo math fool you. Its all bullshit.
  18. Actually that information is not for public use, and not to leave the Dealership.
  19. Ford flooded the rental market with the Taurus for the same reason. Dont get me wrong, the Taurus was an all around good dependable Car, but this is normal shit for these Automakers. Its that voodoo math stuff.........
  20. To all you guys who wear your Ford nighties with matching undies, remember "you can put perfume on a pig, but its still a pig"...... So lets leave the pom pons on the table and face reality here.
  21. Wow, where to start.............. Ford is beginning to catch another Auto maker that is getting worse....encouraging? Ford sponsored the survey? Kinda like having J D Power in the pocket? (remember?) Spark Plugs? The average 15K a year driver does not go 100K between changes. That was a farce from the beginning. 3-4 years ago changing them was not a problem. They were "self removing" while driving. The dents in the hood and blown cops were optional, but they fixed that problem with plugs that need special removal tools to get whats left of the plug case out of the head after the plug body blew out or broke off... Ford has fukked themselves right into a corner. The non-car group of playboys have sold off or mortgaged most of the assets and are closing or pawning off what is left. They started with the Dealers, Technicians, and Vendors. Then when they had us all broke they turned on thier own workforce. Now its the kids. Did you ever stop to think how in good faith they can keep rewarding themselves with million dollar bonuses for driving Ford into the gound? They have enough balls to do what they do and still pillage the Company and reward themselves for what? Any One of us can do what they are doing which is nothing. "Share the pain"? They are surviving on loans, and they are out of cuts and closing for the most part. I see a train wreck comming. With Fords sales in the toilet, and the moves they have made they cant possibly pay back the billions they borrowed to stay floating. It merely bought a little more time for these Execs to keep giving themselves more bonus money. The 6.4 is going to piss off alot of people when they see the cost of maintenance to keep this thing going. The first one we sold was a fire belcher. It also lost dash, cruise, horn and lighting due to a bad clockspring. 1500 miles on it so far. But hey what do you expect for 64K? Flame away.
  22. Yeah, and they cant play in the rain either........................... :blah:
  23. Until I moved to South Carolina a few months ago I lived my whole life in northern Indiana smack dab between Indy and Chicago. I have been to games both stadiums many many times. I have always rooted for both teams but only the Colts since they moved to Indy. I have been a Bears fan since the days when we knew they were going to lose, but we wanted to see what the late great Walter Payton would do. The thing Im getting at is that I never dreamed I would see the day the Colts and Bears were in the Super Bowl at the same time........ The Colts also beat the Pats in Foxboro what, the last 2 or 3 games. They are over the playoff hump with the Pats also. There's a new power building Irsay has always been about building this team. Remember, Indy is a "small market". They have done a helluva job building a team. And Indy is a team.........
