  1. Ford is dying. Slowly. and what we see are the convulsions or erratic movements that anticipate the end. In Europe, Ford will have almost nothing to sell by the end of the year: Puma, Kuga, Transit. That's all. Ford kill the Fiesta, Focus, Mondeo, Galaxie, S Max, C Max and has nothing this to replace them. The Explore EV for Europe (VW platform) was delayed. The 2nd EV model is not even close to launch. In America the things are not better. The planned EV were canceled (yes... canceled) because nobody wants to buy expensive a EVs with limited range. Ford killed (or planned to kill) Escape, Edge, all ICE Lincoln and now have nothing to offer. Ford is dying.
Ford couldn't handle the transition to electric vehicles.

BEV Capri and Explorer are nice enough vehicles because they are basically what Ford  should have done

with the original E Max project,  a BEV Focus Active (Capri) and BEV Escape (Explorer).

Ford basically wasted seven years getting to the same BEVs it originally needed for Europe

and it’s already planning how to limit production and make these low volume cash cows.

Thats such a shame because I think both of these will be a big improvement over ID4 & ID5.

The real problem here is a Ford management that keeps changing its mind every few years,

I seriously doubt that Ford has a clue what its Euro and global buyers really want, tone deaf?

I am European. I live in Spain. And I don’t want a 45 to 60000€ electric vehicle like the EV Explorer or Capri. There are not good enough. And the VW sibling sales flop preview the Ford EVs failure . The Mach E is very good vehicle, is a different kind of car. It has a very attractive design and a aspirational halo ( a Mustang is always a desired objet ).
Europe, and Spain , are not ready for expensive EVs from mainstream brands. And not everybody want thems. The infrastructure is not ready for EVs.
Ford will fail miserably in Europe with their EV strategy

So if T3 flops, Ford is basically screwed? With how T3 has been described by Farley "It's gonna be radical, and some people may have a hard time accepting it"

"Some people in the company were questioning it"

"It may not look like a truck, but it will be".

All those comments make me think Ford is making the t3 something like the cybertruck, and that concerns me.

The 1986 Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable had a revolutionary design that shocked everybody. 3 or 4 years later , when the Taurus where the bestselling car , every automaker copied the “aero” design for their sedans.

the same will occur with the T3 and the Explorer EV for NorthAmerica

  4. And then people criticize when Ford decides to import the Lincoln Nautilus from China. Given what is happening with the absurd demands of the automobile unions, Ford (and the other American brands) should stop producing vehicles in the USA and move the plants to Mexico, Canada or China. By the way, all these lawsuits do not affect either Toyota or Tesla. I don't know if the idea is to bankrupt the 3 traditional American companies, because that is what will happen if common sense doesn’t prevails.

    From the linked article:

Presuming that Ford were planning to use the VW as-is, does that imply that VW's design might be deficient from Ford's perspective? If so, what does that imply for the I.D.4?

MEB is a mess.  Ford made a mistake using it. Maybe the best for Ford is to wait until the GE2 EV platform will be ready.

    Huh?

    https://electrek.co/2023/08/08/volkswagen-edges-past-tesla-tight-german-ev-race/

Seems like pricing is the major issue...the ID.3 had a huge increase in sales last month when the price was dropped in China.

Of course. The price is a key element of the EV equation. Is VW gaining money on MEB in China, with the new prices?  That is the point. If you don’t get profits, is not working.

    ??

  7. MEB is not working for VW. Won’t do it for Ford. That platform is a mess. And Ford is now in a very difficult position: nothing to offer to European customers. At least, not for middle class Europeans.
The current line up (excluding de trucks/vans) are:

    Puma

    Kuga (Escape)

Mustang Mach E (starting at 55000€)

Mustang (starting at 60000€ for the 4 cyl model)

North American Explorer (until the end of the year, at 70000€)

Bronco (available by the end of this year, at stratospherically price and few units)

    That is all.

The Kuga may have dropped out of the top 20, but the Ford Puma is still in the top 20, at least for H1 of 2023.
    ford-puma-st-line-2019.jpg

For H1 of 2023, Ford Kuga was 24th, Ford Puma was at 17th, (best selling Ford in Europe).

Ford Kuga ended 2022 at 19th, so it's dropped a couple of spots.

Oh!  Great!  The best seller Ford in Europe is the number 17 in the top 20 list!   Wow.      Some years ago, the Focus made the top 3 bestseller in many Europeans markets and the Fiesta made the top 2 in UK for many years. ??

  9. A vehicle with the accent on aerodinámics could be very atractive. Look at the cars I’m posting here.

And about not to use heritage Ford names on new EV and/or Crossovers, is not possible because the future is EV and Crossovers.  Nothing else.  Not sedans, not coupes, not sport cars…. So, a stylish 3 row crossover called Thunderbird will be welcomed.

P.S.:  The original Taurus was called too futuristic and advanced for the times.   And was the car that saved Ford in the 80’s

So if "top hats" are so cheap, why can't Lincoln have a Grand Touring car based on the Mustang that rivals Europe's best at a price starting at under $100K? Plug in Hybrid and diesel power for the best BOF big SUV, the Navigator? Hot hatch variants on the transverse engined SUVs with Ford's highest output Ecoboost engines with lowered suspensions and the best bits in ford's parts bins? And Police Interceptor suspension for the Aviator?

Coupes are selling so bad, that GM is killing the Camaro.
Diesel power for the Navigator? ???. Even VW, the king of diesel (???) is abandoning this fuel as soon as possible

SUVs with lowered suspensions?  Really?  The people want a SUV because is a tall vehicle, with high ride position.
Police Interceptor suspension for the Aviator ?  Pursuit Lincoln?  ?

Clearly, you are not in the car industry and, evidently, you don’t know anything about it.

I agree with you on all counts DeluxeStang. Lincoln has a great opportunity now to reinvent itself and "be the best version of itself" just as you mentioned. That means creating genuinely interesting BEV, such as a production version of its Star Concept with at least some of the concept's cool features. Hopefully we'll see something along these lines in 2025 or earlier.

Insipid, underwhelming products like 2024 Nautilus and the misguided notion that they represent the "type of product that Craig and other executives hope lead the brand to a sales rebound" need to be scrapped if Lincoln wishes to take full advantage of that opportunity.

    fv-star-2.tif?croppathe=1_2x1&wid=1440

Insipid?  Underwhelming?  ?????.  You, of course, didn’t see the social media reaction to the 2024 Nautilus launch.
Please, check the comments in Twitter and Instagram, at least, and you can have a real knowledge of the people opinion.

if you don’t like it, I respect that. But people love, loooooooove and turn crazy for the new Nautilus.

  12. Off road vehicles are the niche with more future and profits. See the succes of the Bronco sub-brand. See the future Scout Brand, from VW and the Audi version (luxury off road). I think Ford need a Lincoln version of the Bronco. Some new body panels , some sweet changes to the platform, add all luxury items and you have a winner.   Ok, ok, Lincoln’s “Quiet luxury” mantra is not for this kind of vehicle.  But what about “quiet off road luxury”?    Is a very profitable niche….

and about that off road Mustang, is true. Ford needs to fight the Porsche 911 off road…

  13. December 2023, at a Ford dealer in Madrid:

    -Hi

-Hi, I want to buy a new Explorer

-Ok, which of them? The big, RWD, gasoline-hybrid, 3-row seats, American one or the small, Focus sized 5 passengers EV?

    - Oh! ?

    Is like someone at McDonald’s:

    -Welcome to MD!

-Hi. I want a Big Mac

-Wich of them? The triple beef with bacon, doble cheese, barbecue sauces or the small chicken  hamburger with lettuce?

    -Oh! ?

Who is the genius at Ford Marketing Department that decided this mess?
    ?????
