Nothing new, happens every time. The only reason it’s even being reported is because the UAW leadership is being so openly aggressive.
Interesting, did not know that. I bet that would be fun to watch though, those guys probably have no idea what they are doing lol

” Ford Motor Co. is preparing white-collar workers to do blue-collar jobs in case of a UAW strike, according to internal company materials reviewed by the Detroit Free Press, part of the USA TODAY Network.Over the past month, Ford has held meetings with salaried workers, including engineers, to explain that the company wants to protect the flow of parts to car dealers in support of customers. This means Ford is planning to take actions that include sending white-collar workers into parts warehouses to run forklifts, according to meeting attendees.”

This is genius from a marketing standpoint. If they had just done another GT it wouldn’t have attracted all the current GT owners. But every GT owner is a potential buyer for this.
I disagree. Many of the GT owners were repeat buyers, and when you are only producing 2000, it doesn’t really even matter because they will all sell out anyways.
The GT is on another level, regardless of how good the mustang is. If anyone had the choice between this mustang and a GT, you’d be hard pressed finding anyone who would take the mustang.

Mustang is supposed to be the every man’s sports car, not some 300k+ super car. I feel like ford is losing their way with this one. If the starting price was gonna be $300k, the GT should have been the only option. A new GT would have been way bigger news than some fast and furious mustang. Now, a widebody regular mustang would have been something that people could get excited about and actually purchase. Keep the rear hips, get rid of the ridiculous front fenders and wing, maybe tone down the front a bit, and that would be a pretty nice mustang.
A corvette competitor would be nice too, and based on most people’s reactions to the initial rumors, it seems like they would have been happy with that too.

try finding a new GT500......
I was referring more so to the very limited versions they put out, like this GTD, cobra jet, etc. I guess they have to build them to be eligible for races.

The build and price tool is now up for the 2024 Bronco.

Most news stories are now behind a paywall anyways. I see that on my google news aggregator also. I thought if you subscribed to News+ it would take care of that?
I was referring to paying for the subscription itself. IMO you can always find the real news for free. If it’s behind a paywall, it’s more likely a fluff piece of some sort.

Have you used any of those apple services? Arcade has crap games, news+ makes you pay for stories you could literally get anywhere else, tv+ is low man on the totem pole when it comes to streamers. Those are all money grabs, and most of them are offered for free through certain phone carriers.
The Apple model I like is every year I get a free update that brings several new features. What are the chances he brings that over from Apple??

Well, that was anticlimactic for me.
does anybody even buy these crazy mustang variants? I don’t get wasting the money on it. -
I was hoping we’d see the black version of the heritage trim in 2024, but I guess not. With the rumored refresh coming in 2025, I’m starting to think that these were just mules for the heritage trim and not another option.

I could see it being 100k with options. But let's analyze the automotive landscape. When the 2016 gt came out, there weren't a ton of affordable mid-engine cars. But now, sub 100k mid engine cars can be had from multiple brands. I think Ford is seeing the demand for more obtainable sports cars. They listen to their audience, and many criticized the gt for being too expensive. I expect them to rectify that, but I could be wrong.
Do we know how many vehicles multimatic can build a year? This would be a good indicator of what we can expect. If they can only make a couple thousand a year, then expect a very high price. If they have the ability to make 10’s of thousands then we could expect a lower price. For reference, the corvette sells around 33k a year.
I see the current automotive landscape as a negative. All vehicle prices are rising. Many manufacturers have 100k+ vehicles now, where that price range used to be reserved for exotics only. Ford already has the f250 and f350 that top 100k, with broncos and lightnings getting pretty close. I would guess this vehicle would be a halo car and would be much more expensive then anything ford has on the lot already. -
With the mustang name attached to it, I would expect this to be cheaper then the C8, however like fuzzy said it’s being built by multimatic and it was referred to as a super car in the article. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this anywhere from 100-400k

Surprised the big bend isn’t more. That’s good
-
This sounds shortsighted to me. Ford is literally importing a vehicle from China now. EVs will possibly require 30-40% less labor to build. The writing is on the wall. The UAWs goal should be trying to keep jobs, not speed up the loss of them.

Yeah, that’s the scary part. I bet big bend jumps up to at least the current black diamond price if not more. Crazy how you could originally get a 2 dr bronco for just under 30k when it released and now the cheapest option will probably be 40k.
I still wonder about the cloth seats too. Were they not selling? I thought the outer banks cloth seats were the best looking version available and wish they were offered on all trims. I’m sure MGV is fine, but if I can save a couple thousand, cloth is just as good to me.
-
Glad to see the 12” screen will be standard on all trims. The screen was the only reason I was contemplating the outer banks. I will happily drop down to a black diamond or big bend now.

High demand usually means higher prices. Once EVs are more mainstream, I would expect the price of electricity to drastically increase. This means everything costs more. Cooling your house, watching tv, turning on a light would all be more expensive. Businesses will have higher bills which will get passed on to their customers. New power plants, power lines and other infrastructure will be needed to keep up with demand. Those costs will also get passed on to you.
If gas prices go down due to lower demand, it seems like a hybrid would be a great buy.

Front looks like regular old Cadillac. The back looks like a sedan that they decided to turn into a station wagon at the last second. The profile of this thing however looks really good. I like how it makes the very large vehicle look smaller.

Well considering that low skill jobs like working at Fast food joints are playing like $20-25 an hour...but I have my doubts that you’re actually working fulltime hours either.
I’d imagine most fast food jobs aren’t paying anywhere near that unless they are in California or New York. The bureau of labor statistics says the average is $13.53/hr and only the 90th percentile make $17/hr.
Within the motor vehicle manufacturing category, there are several jobs listed. Here are a few and their mean hourly salaries.
assemblers and fabricators - $26.92/hr
electrical assemblers - $26.06/hr
Engine and other machine assemblers - $28.67
Cut/press/punch machine operator - $27.16
Machinists - $29.58
Here are a few other mean salaries in the $49/hr range from BLS for reference:
computer programmer - $49.42/hr
registered nurse - $42.80/hr
Database admin - $49.29/hr
Psychologists - $49.40/hr
Mechanical engineers - $48.47/hr

With demands like these, I wouldn’t be surprised to see more plants open in non union states.

When will we be getting a new explorer generation entirely? Maybe around 2030 or so? It just seems like this generation has been a dud compared to what came before and Ford needs to completely redesign it to move past it's shortcomings.
I wouldn’t say that. I believe the explorer is the top selling midsize suv. Exterior design still looks better than most of the competitors. The interior is where it was really lacking and hopefully that gets fixed with this refresh. IMO the only area it’s been a dud is quality.

The styling on this thing honestly makes me think of "generic SUV" you see in video games. It's just there, and could literally be anything without badging.
I agree, I could see this being a vehicle in Grand theft auto video games. With that said, it has some nice design cues. I like how the fenders and hood sort of wrap over the grille. The bronco grille would look better if it was similar. I think several owners have even painted the outer edge of their grilles to give it a similar look. I also like the upright windshield. The Everest is a good attempt by ford, but imo the grille doesn’t go with the rest of the body very well and the windshield is slanted a bit too much.

So, during a mid-cycle refresh, Ford should consider a fixed roof Bronco...not 100% sure what the take rate would be.
Ive never seen a bronco without its roof on. Every jeep I see has a hard top now. Where I live, it’s just too hot to have the roof off in the summer. Winters are too cold. Spring and fall barely exist. I think a fixed roof would sell well.

Does that not suggest too much content was previously added, otherwise why would it be there to be pulled out? Maybe times or conditions changed along the way making decontenting necessary, but it’s likely some of that content shouldn’t have been there to start with.Between inflation and higher interest rates, I personally believe upcoming vehicle models should start with a basic trim making them more affordable; at least until economy improves significantly.
Only problem with that is no one wants to buy a basic trim vehicle. They’d rather extend their loan to 84 months to be able to afford all the options they want. That or buy used.

If ford was never going to do a new GT, I would have liked to see a new Shelby Daytona instead of this. That would have really brought the wow factor. I don’t think anyone would be questioning the 300k price tag on that either. Of course there could be some issues with the Shelby name, but they could make it happen.
