I wouldn’t mind a single cab raptor.

That price difference is no different at other brands, so let's not pretend that's a Ford issue.
I went through 5 brands - Ford, Chevy, Toyota, Honda, Nissan and compared them. The breakdown of models is on the left, the overall is on the right - using Ford as a baseline, red means the competitor's price difference is HIGHER than Ford's, green means it's LOWER.
So Ford is right in line with the other brands, aside from midsize, where they have a larger difference from the sedan competition.
The difference is ford is leaving the sedan market and expecting its customers to buy more expensive vehicles. They other manufacturers are not leaving the segment so they will still have an offering in the size and price people want.

The other thing too is they keep saying there's all of these "white space" vehicles coming (whatever that means) and we haven't seen them yet.
Exactly. Meanwhile, GM already has the blazer on dealer lots and has shown the trailblazer and encore. Kia just showed it’s seltos, Hyundai showed the venue.

Part of the problem is that they are realizing that a majority of existing Ford sedan buyers are not going to suv’s; they are going elsewhere. You have data from surveys before it happens, you get real data when you make the change. As good as survey metrics are they don’t always work well in future predictions.
You also have an issue is that Gen Z likes sedans, and ship them equal to suv’s. Gen Z is important as they like cars more than millennials do.
What did ford expect to happen? I think everyone knew they’d go somewhere else. There’s really two issues going on here, size and price. If I wanted to get a ford suv comparatively sized to the fusion, I’d have to go up to the edge, which is thousands more. I could go down in size to an escape, but now I get a cramped back seat and still probably end up paying a bit more than the fusion.
if I wanted to get a suv comparatively priced to the fusion, I’d have to go eco sport or escape. Nobody wants an eco sport and as mentioned above the escape has rear seat space issues.
the beauty of the sedan was that you could start of with a low price, get most of the options you really wanted, have room for your family, and still walk out the door with a good price. The price conscious shopper can’t do that with suvs, so what do they do? They go to Honda or Toyota or Hyundai.

My dad's 95 Bronco had them. Same thing, roll down the back window and enjoy
Which brings me to another great feature, roll down back window lol

I’ve always liked the switches in the mustang (the ones by the start button). I think at one point the raptor had some switches too. I hope the bronco incorporates them into the interior.

You can't style it specifically for just what the enthusiasts want. It needs to have general appeal while maintaining enough retro to appeal to *most* enthuisasts. I think Ford has done this with mustang so I expect nothing less from Bronco and Scout.
I guess it depends on the market ford sees for this vehicle. I always saw the bronco as a niche vehicle like the raptor. If that’s the case, then throw general appeal out the window and cater to your target market. You wouldn’t want a bunch of Prius or minivan drivers determining the looks of an off-road vehicle.
if however ford sees the bronco as having more mass market appeal, what you are saying makes sense. Mass market appeal usually means bland and boring though so I’m afraid of what this will mean for the bronco.

Was it the old one or new one? New ones I've had for rentals are actually really nice. That and the Forester are probably the best rentals I get in that class, the old one however was really bad. Have a Blazer this week, drives really nice but the interior is mid 90's GM at its finest and is a little spartan on features even for a rental car trim level.
I still like the Fusion Hybrid rental, drives nice and gets good mileage.yep, I think the rav4 xse hybrid is the best looking in the segment right now, and it also gets 41 mpg. If the bronco scout doesn’t work out, this will probably be at the top of my list.

I liked the fusion sport but getting rid of it makes sense. I bet they could just make a sport appearance package for a fusion se and make more money that way.

What a terrible article. Especially this paragraph:
“If Tesla is able to release a truck at its planned price point and be able to drive 400 or more miles on a charge it can boast "something extremely interesting" in the segment, Electrek opined. By comparison, the Rivian R1T starts at $69,000 with a range capability of 230 or more miles.”
Umm, I guess you don’t realize that the rivian truck has a 400 mile range option, as well as a 300 mile range too. Way to gloss over that to make the Tesla look better. And if they are implying that the so called $50k version of the Tesla truck with have 400 mile range, they are sadly mistaken. Maybe 200 if you are lucky.

the Tremor was right up my alley, and I would have bought one if I was single and didn’t have kids.

this style really only looks good in the RS trim. Since this is smaller than an equinox, that would put it around the same size as the escape right?

My mistake, I thought the cross traffic alert used the reverse sensors.

I'm wondering when this is all going to start leveling out (the cost increase in vehicles). There has to be a point where Manufacturers have to stop increasing the prices as they are going increasing far faster than inflation is.
2020 Escape Titanium $40k My 2011 Explorer Limited (every option possible), $43k when I bought it. Yes I get that there are a few things that are offered now that wasn't back then but it's just amazing how expensive these vehicles are getting.
I’m with ya on that. I saw that the reverse sensing system is only standard on the SEL and above. Does that make any sense? Why does copilot 360 include a lane keeping system, but it doesn’t include a reverse sensing system or cross traffic alert? Everyone I know who has the lane keeping system turns it off, yet I’m forced to pay for it now because it’s standard. I’m sure cross traffic and reverse sensing combined are cheaper than the lane keeping system.

The bigger 1.5 I-3 EB has a nice muffled growl to it under acceleration and gives away nothing to the 1.5 I-4 EB.
I hope you are right. I have the 1.5 4-cyl in my fusion. It’s not a bad engine, but I would not call it quick and gas mileage isn’t great.

https://www.autoblog.com/2019/05/28/2020-ford-escape-price-25980/
S - $25,980 (1.5l 3 cyl)
SE - $28,190 (1.5l 3 cyl)
SE Sport - $29,350 (hybrid only)
SEL - $30,350 (1.5l 3 cyl standard, 2.0 optional)
titanium - $34,495 (hybrid standard, 2.0 4 cyl optional)
SE Sport seems like a good option. Seems like a no brainer over the SE for the hybrid alone, but it also comes with the 12 inch digital instrument panel.
Curious how people will react to the 3 cylinder, I have to admit I’d be hesitant to buy a vehicle with a 3 cylinder.

All the engineering development and validation were probably done in conjunction with Escape and Corsair so it won't need a separate mule testing phase. Some of the supposed Escape or Corsair mule could have very well been Scout mules... we just don't know because they are the same vehicles under the tophat. And of course Ford could test any Scout specific hardware with a new production Escape or Corsair body once those cars hit the dealer lot... so we really won't know at all if it is a Scout mule.
I think what you meant to ask is the lack of Scout prototypes... which is the camouflaged test vehicle with Scout specific body panels. And it's too early to see prototypes yet. I think we will see some by late summer or fall.
If figured since it was more “off road” orientated that it might have had its own mules, but what you say makes sense.
-
Has anyone seen any mules for the scout/maverick yet? Since we have seen bronco mules already and it comes out after the scout, I would have assumed we would have seen it already. I keep striking out on other new ford vehicles (the new escape isn’t my cup of tea, the Corsair optioned the way I want it is more than I want to spend, and the ranger just seems like a stop gap until the next gen comes out), so I’m really hoping the scout checks all the boxes or I’m not sure what I’ll do for my next vehicle. I liked the pics of it that came out a few months ago, but I’m really hoping we start getting some more info and clearer/more detailed pics soon.

The Scout is going to be roughly the size of the current Escape, maybe an inch or two smaller overall.
The Puma is Fiesta based
Do you know if the scout gets the escapes sliding rear seat? I can deal with it being the same size or even a bit smaller as long as I can fit an adult in the back seat.

But at that point, why not sell it in the USA? Its going to be a better product then the Ecosport (which seems to be selling pretty well in my area from what I see on the road)
Do any subcompact suv/cuvs sell well? Could be a regional thing but I hardly ever see any of them on the road. Maybe a Honda hrv and a Nissan Juke here and there but that’s about it. The cx3 has been out for a long time and I’ve seen maybe 2 on the road? I don’t think I’ve even seen chevys subcompact, and I’ve seen exactly 1 ecosport.

Haha yeah the last gen probe gt was cool, however the name was not.

RDX is fringe luxury. Actually most Acura’s are. No doubt Corsair should be better and definitely more luxurious.
62k will get you a BL Nautilus with 2.7 and AWD.
In the eyes of most consumers, isn’t Lincoln also fringe luxury?
-
Seems like the reserve should have at least came with the elements or tech package standard.
$1700 for heads up display seems a bit extreme. The Mazda cx5 can get the heads up display and everything that’s in the elements package for $1625. On the Corsair it would be $1100 for elements and $1700 for heads up.

https://shop.lincoln.com/lab/corsair/#/select/
$36,940 to $60,000. I was hoping for closer to $34k like the mkc but I guess it probably comes with more standard equipment.
played around with the configurator and you are probably looking at around $45k if you want one or two of the cool options.
Full size Bronco mule?

You can see why they took the bumpers off. It’d be right where the wheel is.
