  1. What was received in the mail appearing to come from your dealer is likely NOT from your dealer at all, but is junk sent by people whom monitor new car registrations at the DMV and make it appear as dealer provided.  There is no Ford plan called “Axiom Revolution Bundle”.  
     

    Look into Ziegler, Flood, or ANDERSON & Koch (Jeremy Klund) online for actual Ford/Lincoln warranties and maintenance plans.  We bought a 0 deductible 100,000 mile warranty and 8 year maintenance plan from Jeremy Klund at ANDERSON & Koch. They were reasonably priced and he was very helpful.

The entire manual is like this.  I understand options make it difficult, but they know what the options are AND they sure know about which features are actually standard.  EVERY manual I’ve ever had before would at least provide accurate detail on the standard components and usually also cover the option fairly well.  I’m impressed with the Aviator, but I give the manual authors a definite “F”.

Picked our Reserve I up Friday after waiting while it sat in the local train terminal ramp for 3 weeks (note, it magically arrived the next day after calling the concierge and complaining that the dealer was doing totally nothing).  After all the reported issues on this new model, we looked it over very thoroughly before signing the final paperwork.  Other than a couple of very nitnoy dealer cleanup items like some staples showing, smudges on the seat and headliner, and a loose visor bracket, the only significant issue we found was the driver-side Aviator trim piece is just a bit too far out of acceptable alignment.  The dealer is going to fix that next week and run it through the detailer “again” for the smudges.  Like Yehaman, we absolutely love it so far.  Drives like a dream and the features are perfect for us and are very intuitive.  Fantastic vehicle.

Does anyone know why a new Aviator would sit for over two weeks at the destination rail terminal?  Ours is sitting in Dallas only 1 hour away from the dealer and has been for that long.  The truck transit has been identified in the status the entire time, but it’s still sitting there for some reason.

  5. Other feedback and the presence of the Ramp code seems to indicate that it was transferred to a train and it’s status was “In Transit, Passing Rail Yard” then “In Transit, Received at Junction”, but no location info is known.  So, I was hoping this locator could tell me what train company and car ID?  I could then possibly track the progress via the train tracking system.

     

    Please provide for 5LM5J7WC9LGL21021, if possible.  Thanks!!

Sure there still would be.  It would allow for those wanting it to save fuel.  OEM could even charge for it, if desired...and for those not wanting it, the ability to either not have it or, at least to default it off, would be a competitive advantage for the OEM .  Those that want it, use it (or buy it, if that’s the OEM approach) and those that don’t want it, don’t have it forced on them (or have to look for a viable workaround...OR chose a competitor’s vehicle without it).  WIN, WIN for consumers and OEM!

I agree that it can be needed in some cases, but who is that fast at disabling it when truly needed or whom “knows” that they will definitely need it disabled (except when they just plain don’t like it).   My point is an argument as to why all such features should be tested as worst case REGARDLESS of whether it can be left off at restart.

     

    I definitely was NOT recommending that it be forced on people as always on.  In fact, that’s what they are “basically” doing now.  My suggestion would allow the OEM to decide whether to provide a permanent off state since it would have zero impact to the EPA rating.  And the same for any other such “features”.

    (I understand what you’re saying akirby, but I don’t listen to the insurance salesmen either.  To me , an extended warranty is basically some “ease of mind” pre-paid repairs, whether you need them or not.  But they’re truly worthless if they never even pay hardly anything due to the deductible and the sales people love a high deductible so they can more easily use the approach which I mentioned.  So, if I buy one, I don’t give them ANY wiggle room and this has worked well for me in the past.  With today’s complexity vs quality, a longer period with a zero deductible will almost certainly pay off before it expires...and if not, I’m still happy because it means I had a great vehicle.)

  9. Does Ford have zero-deductible ESPs?  

     

    (I’ve had dealers that would fix things at a cost just over the deductible and say other issues were fine, so they could hit me with the deductible again when I returned to fix the other issues.)

  10. Better yet, the EPA should test ALL vehicles with ANY such mileage affecting capabilities in their worst case state (in this case, with start/stop set to off) regardless if it can be defaulted.  Then there would be more consistent ratings and the incentive for the OEM is to either force capabilities like this on the consumer or provide the off feature and take the rating hit.  (I’d call this better “truth in advertising”)
