  1. My wife's explorer had a steering rack go out over the 3 years, but under the 36K milage. It was quoted at $1600 to repair it. I got Ford to cover it, but it took a month to get it approved and get it done. If I had had the warranty it would have been a non-issue. I never considered the warranty for her car. Now the transaxle side shaft seal is weeping at 50K miles. She is easy on t he car, they just don't build stuff like they used to.

On a diesel truck the cab has to come off for any major engine work and the emissions is no joke and can cost a small fortune. Then there is the electronics, labor cost going up, and commodity prices increasing. Again, I am not a big fan of warranties, but at $3K for 125K miles and 8 years I think it is worth it.

  2. I never buy warranties and don't even insure all my trailers since they are covered for liability attached to the vehicle. However, this time I bought warranties for both of my 22 diesels. Just under $3K for 8yr/125K miles premium care, on an $80K truck seemed pretty reasonable to me. Besides, Ford gave me a $2500 PCO on both trucks, so why not give back a little and get some piece of mind.

You get a “softer” suspension with the Tremor Package, which limits your towing and 5th Wheel capabilities. I don’t care if you think adding bags or plugs helps mitigate sagging, you still have to spend more money to add an aftermarket item that still performs sub-par in comparison to a high towing capacity package with added leaf springs. You also have large and more expensive 35” tires to replace, which don’t help with fuel economy when towing.

I’ll admit the Tremor Package is cool and recommend it to folks who have the money to not care one way or the other, as well as those who sincerely like the look, don’t plan to tow much, and take it off road in harsh terrain. But if you’re like me and plan to tow more and want some off-road capability, you’re better off doing the high towing capacity package combined with the camper, FX4, and 5th wheel prep package. And if you really care about payload, don’t get a Tremor.

A SRW will still need airbags if you are hauling any significant load with tongue weight, unless you don't care if the sits nose high.

Sometimes you can negotiate the warranty price if that is your sticking point - some dealers will, some won't, but worth a shot!

Search on-line to get the best price. My dealer wouldn't touch the offer I got on-line. He said it was below his cost?‍♂️. Not sure I believe that, but he also said he needed to make $500 minimum to sell one. I bought two trucks from him at X-Prcing and offered to buy both warranties from him.

If system slows down due to traffic in front of you, turning on the left turn signal, vehicle starts speeding up even before changing lanes.

system absolutely hates someone crossing lanes in front of you, to the point of slamming on the brakes.  I've gotten in the habit of tapping brakes or canceling cruise when I see it coming.

When the system applies the brakes and traffic in front of you is pulling away, it's still applying brakes.  I found apply some pressure to money pedal will force the system to remove brake pressure.  Behavior seems to be worse when towing, but I have very little time behind the wheel not towing.

I've noticed some of that as well. I almost didn't order it on the 22, but I do like it on two lane highways when I am following another vehicle or someone that I am ok with their speed. Using it on the freeway creates more issues than it solves IMO.

Oooh, sounds like someone with money to burn. I wish I could do that but depending on how you do it the negative equity will kill you eventually if you don't keep an eye on your resales. I bought a 2021 F250 XLT in March this year, turned around, and ordered an F350 in June.  Per the dealer when I ordered it they said they would take my F250 off my hands as a trade-in at almost what I bought it for it.  I likely would lose very little on the deal since inventories are so strained these days.  Fast forward 5 1/2 months, I went to the dealer this past Friday, the day after my F350 went into production, and was quoted about 14K less trade-in value for the F250 than what I owe on it!  I have NO idea what I am going to do now.  Selling privately would get me more I think, but all the paperwork and legal mess make me want to not hassle with it. I have about a month to figure something out.  Stuff is so complicated these days involving vehicle sales.  Frustrated in Florida....

I don't know about FL, but in AZ selling private party is easy.

Have driven 6.7's for almost 9 yrs as a daily driver and towing our 5th wheel. When the tires are good and the roads are dry you really have to hammer the accelerator to get the wheel spin. Even when the roads are wet, which in the Pacific North West is common, I rarely get wheel spin, but I do drive in accordance with the conditions.

It is more of an issue on my 22 with the 10 speed and 3.55, then my 17 with 6 -speed and 3.55 or my 19 with a 6-speed and 3.31. It took a little getting used to. I doubt you will have an issue with a dually.

Not according to my dealer. He said he was trying to get it extended.

There is a thread on PCO's. Lot's of guys have stated having them applied to the order before the truck was delivered. What does you fine print say? It use to say something like ordered  or purchased.

Well, he clearly said it was official, so I'm curious where he heard it from.  My PCO expires in January and if they won't honor it, I'm gonna be pissed.

Unless something has changed, your dealer should be able to apply your PCO to your order now.

Someone give me another 4 grand and I’ll get them. Can we crowdsource this? Ppppppplease…Help me…I can’t afford LEDs on my 64 thousand dollar truck. Can u spare some change.
This is mildly killing me since I thought of dumping the trailer assist for 1500 and upping my build to the lariat ultimate but. Alas. I don’t want to give that up. I might regret it. I have led lights now. Shame you can’t add them to the lariat value.

Get the LED's!      If you are buying a SD to tow with, hopefully you don't need trailer assist...what is this world coming to?

  11. I have a 2022 with LED's and one without. The one without will rarely get driven at night so I didn't see the need. I was working late the other night and for the first time drove the truck with halogen lights at night. I will say that there is a huge difference! I almost regretted not getting the LED's for this truck, but reminded myself that it will rarely see night time driving. I think it really depends on the type of roads you drive and how much time you will spend driving at night.

  12. I already broke the window on my 22 SD. When I was on the phone with Safelite they said they couldn't calibrate the safety systems on a lifted or leveled truck. Mine is stock at the moment, but I am considering a level/lift kit that will make it the same height as a leveled 2017-2019 truck. Has anyone heard of this or had an issue getting a windshield replaced on a Lariat or higher trim that has the collision, automatic braking or lane keeping alerts.

T5 should be fine - it’s on Ford’s approved list for 10w30 and 15w40.  I would not use 15w40 though.

I use T6 5w40.  Looking at the manual 5w40 is for severe duty and has the largest temp range of those three grades.

If you are in the desert, there is nothing wrong with using 15w 40

I took Flood ESP pricing into the dealer.  They "claimed" Flood's ESP pricing was below their cost.  HOWEVER, when we combined maintenance plan, their price was a couple hundred over Flood.

For the maintenance, doing the math and having someone else do it, literally the maintenance is prepaid oil changes.  As we are looking to spend time traveling, this takes the burden off me to plan out oil changes and being home when they need to be done.

My dealer said the same thing. Flood was below their cost and he claimed they all pay the same. They wanted a minimum $500 over cost.

Can someone point me to the "how to get" on these PCO's?  Or is it "how to make it more likely to get"?  Either way.  I want.

If you read thru the previous post I believe there was suggested ways and even a link to the "steps to take".
