  1. I think IGOR might be running one of these:
  2. We don't use the smaller 4.6,we only use the 5.4 here at KTP.
  3. Ford Motor Co., in Cost-Saving Measure, to Cease Automobile Production By Ion Zwitter, Avant News Editor Dearborn, Michigan, June 9, 2006 Ford Motor Company Chairman and CEO Bill Ford announced during an interview with Bloomberg TV today that, effective immediately, Ford Motor Company will flatline all North American automotive and truck manufacturing operations in an effort to reduce costs and improve shareholder value. Mr. Ford said the move will allow the company to "focus on streamlining core competencies and regroup to more efficiently embrace evolving market structures". The announcement precedes a similarly dramatic paradigm shift next year by rival struggling automaker General Motors (see related article). A D V E R T I S I N G "Starting in 2007, we will be idling and selling off all of Ford's North American automobile manufacturing assets, with a commensurate reduction in salaried and non-salaried employees," Mr. Ford said. "This will dramatically boost our short-term liquidity, allowing Ford to focus on new directions, new customer-focused avenues of exploration that will effectively leverage Ford's powerful brand identity." According to Mr. Ford, these new avenues, on which he declined to elaborate specifically, "may include manufacturing things, and then again they may not. By way of giving a preliminary indication, however, do you have any idea how many plastic and rubber squeaky toys American domestic parrots consume on an annual basis? It's more than you might think. A lot more." Mr. Ford explained that the primary thrust of "The Way, Way Forward" plan, as he termed it, will be to rebuild, restructure and revitalize the Ford brand. "Ford will be rolling out sweeping advertising campaigns worldwide explaining and touting the strengths of the Ford brand throughout 2007," Mr. Ford said. "Once our image has been rebuilt as the starting-point for American-made innovation and growth, we'll be appointing an internal task force to look into new ways to innovate and grow. And once that task force makes its innovative growth recommendations, you can rest assured our stockholders and the general public will be the first ones to know." Ford's Way Way Forward plan for Ford calls for a 98 percent short-term payroll reduction, which will require layoffs over the next four months of 82,000 hourly workers in North America and a reduction by 6.5 percent in mid- and upper-level salaried management employee rosters over the next five to seven years. Bonuses to top-level managers will be capped at "low to mid eight-figure levels". "Once we know which way the Way, Way Forward plan will lead us, there's a good chance we'll be able to consider bringing the option of re-hiring some of those hourly workers back to the table for discussion if we think it may prove beneficial to our shareholders, which is beneficial to our business, which is beneficial to America, which in turn is beneficial to American workers," Mr. Ford explained. --- Oh, and April Fools!!! Some lighthearted fun in these tough times.
  4. There saying the quad cab is 240" or 20'. The excursion was 19',do you think the seirra club will do a full out assualt on this new truck.
  5. WIZARD Not sure why you haven't included KTP on the list of plants to stay open. We are just finishing up on the all new trim shop. That was multi-million dollar investment involving excursion tearout and the new trim line, which i have heard is now flex. Setup like DTP's trim shop from what i've heard,dc guns, wood floors, etc. Have you ever been to KTP? Was wondering because the upper plant management comes here for FPS training. Just wondering if you ever came here for classes.
  6. What overtime? We still have 3 crews working,4-10 hour shifts. We do get the extra few tenths if there have been problems that day(breakdowns, line stops). The most we can work is 10.7 each day, they call the line time after lunch. Only overtime we have had was extra shifts on saturdays to make up for loss production due getting the new systems in paint and body running smoothly. We are running a couple extra shifts so we have the day off during the kentucky derby(its like a holiday down here). The all new trim shop is suppose to be done in april. They took all the excursion system out and replaced it with the new trim shop. They will then tear out the old trim shop, and extend body shop out even more. We ran just under 400,00 units last year, not bad considering we sold 900,000 f-series last year between four plants. We are running just under 80 units a hour in trim the last i have heard. New trim shop is rumoured to be able to run anywhere from 90 to 100 units per hour. Probably won't need fans at that speed, just feel the draft as they fly by us. Good luck to everyone on the 23rd.

    Transfers

YNOT1976 said Maybe you should be more concerned with Ford outsourcing jobs to Mexico than me driving a Dodge. Not here to debate what you drive or you coming back with some cuss words,BUT Just in case you don't know, that hemi your driving was built in Mexico.
  8. Are you kidding? Why in the world would KTP(i'm guessing you mean Kentucky Truck Plant) have a down week. We have five additional shifts scheduled to keep up with demand. Now a couple are for derby weekend later this spring.
  9. First off ,this is not a stupid topic. Its a very real contract option that the company and union could draw up. I never said it would go one for one,it could be as a group going to a plant with a future product,or a line production change. There are countless options that can be drawn up to make this possible. Calling someone stupid or comparing it to other topics that had no real possibilities (i.e. Toyota merger with Ford) isn't really a vaild argument. Chrysler is already doing this in some form,so it could happen. Will it happen, don't know! But with this annoucement coming that looks like 9 plants and up to 30,000 people,i would say its a option for the company and union to keep some high senority . Also remember all the GEN people and Visteon people, and that number gets pretty large. I just don't see them putting a large number of high senority on the street that are fully vested. And don't think that they are really worried about how you feel about moving, they been doing this for awhile now. They know it would be rocky, but like others you adjust and move on. Really hope for everyone it doesn't happen, but if there was ever a prime time for it to happen. Its our current status. Good Luck to everyone!
  10. I really think this next contract will bring system wide senority. No longer will flowback or people at closed plants have to wonder if there are spots at other plants. If you have the senority you will be able to bump someone out of another plant. With the Jan.23rd annoucement coming,i think this will almost be a given on the 2007 contract. Any thoughts? Also heard from someone that knows a worker at Chrysler that they already have this policy in place. Now, i'm not sure if this person is in a assembly or parts plant at Chrysler. You figure if this happens to us at Ford you will probably need at least 18 yrs(i'm guessing of course) to hold a job at Ford after all the cuts.
