  1. Finally an end to that topic. Great post here and from Wixomrealitycheck. It seems alot of people are asking their local union reps about this. My local chairman said he's checking into this, and he hopes that this senority talk is not true. But it seems no one can get a straight answer. So how is a person suppose to make an educated decision?? Maybe I'll call Fox 2 problem solvers...
  2. I didn't realize that. I was told it was seperate, but thats good to know. I suppose that because the retirement is still seperate, many would still have to invest alot more time than they would have if they would have combined retirements.
  3. Yeah you're probably right. The 80% was too high-but even so half the plant has only 9 years Ford senority-so that tells me these people will be around along time. I have heard of some people leaving, but not many high senority. Also, lets wait and see if the company is going to allow transfers here after all is said and done. We're 600 over staffed right? So that would mean we should not be accepting any transfers. Lets see what happens...
  4. It seems to me that this is all wishful thinking for those who are unfortunately working in a plant that may be closing. What makes anyone getting laid off during these times, any different than those who have been laid off in the past?? Just because you may have higher senority than someone at your plant doesn't give you any right to try and flaunt your senority 100 miles away. keep dreaming. Although I do hope for anyone losing their jobs', that they're open slots in other plants.
  5. Yeah you're not kidding. I spoke with a union offical and they said the union is trying to put some type of information package together for us. We'll see--it's hard to make a decision like this with so many unanswered questions.
  6. Thanks for the info. I've been trying to contact him for about 2 weeks now. For what its worth, its good to know he feels that way. I asked Dave if the union would consider a preliminary survey to see what the take on all the buyouts at AAI would be-but again no response. I just thought it might help others in their decisions, like myself.
  7. 80% of AAI are the original people from when it was Mazda. These people have 10 years Mazda senority and 9 years Ford senority. The company won't allow them to combine the two. So this means they have to work between 15 and 20 more years. I don't think many people will be leaving. Probably some lower senority but I wonder if we'll get enough to cover the 444 layoff? If they outsource material handeling than there would be even more layoffs' to those of us lower than them. It's a good plant, I just wonder what's in our future.
  8. You first!! By the way, according to your other posts you seem to have forgotten to take your xanax--relax! :gang:
  9. Who are you flipping out on? If it's me than you can think about what you're saying-I'm from AAI. Now if you're saying it's true, I'm not suprised. Things that don't make sense happen all the time here.
  10. Yeah as it is right now, we at AAI are over staffed due to the company "claiming" they had to take more transfer because our "attendance is soo bad." Now because we are over staffed they want to get rid of the bottom 400. It's these type of slick moves that cause me to keep considering these buyouts. Also with all the plant concessions going on, I'm waiting for our material handelers to be out sourced and sent to the floor! Who knows--guess it's all about plant vs plant right? Union vs union--that's scary.
  11. Hi I work for AAI and was wondering who from this plant might take the buyout. I'm still considering it. I only have just under 7 years in and wonder where I fall in Ford's senority.(probably the botom) Also my plant is not slated for closure but I still wonder how long before something else was to happen. I'm married with 2 kids, otherwise I'd jump on the edu. buyout. I personaly don't think Ford will get the # of people to leave with this offer. :titanic:
  12. 100 new hires at AAI?? If that's what you mean I find that very disturbing considering we were told they are looking to layoff 400 of us in the future. I figured deduct whoever takes the buyouts from the 400 and thats how many they will layoff. If the original emps' that were once Mazda emps' were allowed to use their Mazda senority towards Ford senority, there might have been a better turn out for buyouts. I feel there wont be many except for maybe those who were recently hired in 2005-2006.
  13. What about the plants that are not closing, but will have emps' taking the buyouts? Will these plants hire tpts' with the same intention of transfering other Ford emps' over? It just seems like there is going to be a mess of transfers, and I wonder how and if Ford is going to be paying out the transfer $ to these emps'?
  14. Any ideas as to how and what is planned to fill in the gaps at all these plants that emps' are taking buyouts at? I was wondering if it's going to be a frenzy of transfers from one plant to the next??
  15. If my plant was to layoff--how long does sub pay last, and also, if there was an opening in another plant during layoff can they force you there? Or are you allowed to pass it up and wait for recall to your plant?? Reason I ask is some of us were forced from our old plant to another but then were told that they werent suppose to be able to force us. We were told if we turned it down we would cease to be Ford emps'. I for one wanted to transfer--just wondering-thanks
  16. I only have 6 years, along with alot of my buddies. We all wonder where our senority puts us company wide. Does anyone know how to obtain a company wide senority list? Also curious of my fellow union brothers opinion on whether you think members like myself with 6years actually will have a job to retire from or should we consider this possible buyout coming up?? thanks
  17. From what I understand from researching this, what ever pension that has been earned will and cannot be taken from you. The buyout stated $140,000, no longer receive Ford benefits, but will keep current pension earned until date of termination.
  18. Thanks! I'll have to check into it. Any idea what the check from Ford for half your pay is? I wonder if they cut this lump size check, how hard it gets taxed. I'm guessing maybe $20,000 or less? I just want to be ready if this option comes my way. I've got 6.5 years in, a wife and kids and I fear for any of us in this senority range how long we will be at Ford. So I figure why not try to start a new career.
  19. I'm sure this clown and any others like him have never fought this hard for the union members when their jobs were being lost! But now that we may actually get a chance to save our selves and take control of our future FOR ONCE the union is going to stand in our way?! Nice---goes to show you whats really important--dollars and cents! Who's the sell out in this situation Mario!
  20. wondering how the process of the edu. buyouts work. Do you receive monthly checks, or one lump payment once a year for your half pay? How about the tuition check? Is it a lump payment? Also when this was offered, did Ford include some type of directions or instructions on how this option will work for the next 4 years? If anyone has any details on this please help me out-thanks! oh and how much time between the time Ford offered you this and the time you have to leave is it??
  21. Hey just wondering what kind of senority all the people have that are signing up for buyouts when they are officialy announced. I have just over 6 years and I even wonder if it would get to me. With a wife and two kids it would be hard to swing it. But I wonder what some of you think about the future of Ford employees' with around the amount of senority as mine. (How many Ford emps' in N.America-and the odds' of having to make this decision) Whether or not this might be a way of escaping future cuts where there may be no offers of buyouts-just straight layoffs'?! :titanic: ???
  22. I wonder how many of you who have posted on here about bumping the low senority have all had a chance to transfer to another plant to avoid being laid off. My guess is if you have high senority as you say, then you turned down the transfer. So if thats the case then suck it up and stop trying to STEAL another union members job!
