petersrc
Good Morning. I recently replaced my 2005 F350 SRW 6 liter, with a 2008 6.4 ---------- about 700 miles so far. I appreciate of the "enhancements" made, but have experienced a problem described below (post made to another forum). Any of you come across the same symptoms?http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/redcard.gif http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/style...ult/redcard.gif ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Shudder while towing Hi All I'm wondering whether someone else has experienced, what I call a "shudder" while towing nominally a 10,000 lb 5th Wheel (or equivalent)? In my case the "shudder" is felt only/mostly when beginning to drive in Tow Mode under light to moderate acceleration e.g. from street corner, light, etc.; not once rolling along in higher gears . I've had the truck (& trailer) in to the local dealership who find that all diagnotics check out properly. The Customer Service personnel have been in touch with Ford and have been advised to "try altering the driveline angles" via different thicknesses of spacers/shims at the driveshaft center bearing, etc. Anyone else recognise this issue? A secondary issue appears to be "thirstyness". I've had 5 new F350 SRW SuperDuties within the last six years. This one's tough on diesel fuel. I know it's still a bit early to measure ultimate economy, but I figure it's only doing about 12.5 miles per US gal empty; 7.5-8 while towing -------- and that's driving gently/not while trying to squeeze all the power out of it either. How about yours? Rudy

How about yours? Rudy Glad to see this post. I pull a 37' Hitchhiker, '08 4X4 DRW CC with a 6spd, when taking off in Low and first gear it seems to shake the tranny, comparable to your shudder explaination. It is hard to explain and does not do it empty. 3500 miles today, have seen 7.0 - 9.5 on the interstate at 75mph, 11.5 @ 65mph with a tail wind best on hwy. Running empty 15-17.3. My cruise control does not maintain speed, fluctuates about 5 mph when hitting a hill then excellerates back. Still happy but am going to the dealer with your same issue. Tcall
I have had all of my Super dutys do the same thing and has been no long term problem. Even back to my old f350 back in 89 did the same thing. What gear ratio do you have?
Steiny
There's a thread on TDS that discusses this and of all the responses this one was unique. It's the third entry down by fullservice. If the link doesn't work it's www.TheDieselStop.com - 1999-Up Super Duties - 6.4L Powerstroke and Drivetrain - Vibration at 10MPH when towing http://forums.thedieselstop.com/ubbthreads...e=0#Post3367278 I'm no expert so I make no statement about the rightness or wrongness, just sharing another perspective.
