For those of you who are interested there is an interesting story about the MG SV here: http://www.austin-rover.co.uk/rtxpowersvf.htm

Basically it was MG's last true British sportscar before it's untimely demise and Chinese takeover. MG sourced a V8 engine from Ford and traction contol components. Bearing in mind it was developed for the equivalent of 50 pence and a packet of crisps it was quite an achievement from a company and engineers who were going bust at the time. It's competition would be cars from TVR and co.....

Just about everybody who owned a MGF complained of this problem, no wonder MG went busT.

Agreed shame because the engine was incredibly light, yet power displacement was high. If only they had used the same head gasked as fitted by Lotus.....

But we digress, this is a Ford forum after all. I just like what MG did with the Ford V8. Carbon fibre rules.

Marketing a delusion. MG was never a high-power marque. It was an under-2 liter sportscar for most of the marque's existence, with badge-engineered sedans added when BMC existed.

IMHO. a 2-seat rag-top with a I-4/I-6 was called for. Think of a TR-7 built properly, like a Miata.

The late Ken Miles built an MG-based racer known as "the Flying Shingle" in California in the mid-50's
