armadamaster
Ford loves doing this for the Mustang, now it's the Panthers' turn. So what can we expect in the package? Some custom colors? Some new special edition engine option? Wheels?........*crickets* Hell....I'd even settle for that prostate cancer edition we men never got in response to the breast cancer edition Mustang at this point. LaredoRV
Could it be the black one with 3-Bars Grilles & Different Badging we saw on the spyshot ?

Just a hunch, but I'd expect to see an Erectile Dysfunction version first, available in Viagara Blue or Cialis Yellow.
taxman100
I heard the dealers in Nevada are hiring women, so that if you go into the dealership to buy a Grand Marquis, she takes you in the back room and "convinces" you a Montego/Sable is what you really want. No manufacturer makes anniversary models of fleet-only vehicles.
Milstar 04 Sport
Would you buy one? New? No manufacturer makes anniversary models of fleet-only vehicles. It will be a Law Enforcement vehicle, to celebrate 30 years of taking some of our finest citizens to their future living quarters. Colors, any special order, but will have a cheap decal on body or glass.
armadamaster
Would you buy one? New? Party pooper. Actually, the Mrs. and I are talking about a new GMQ if we can get rid of our second house note in the near future. No manufacturer makes anniversary models of fleet-only vehicles. Last I heard, they weren't ALL fleet only....least not yet. As if Ford would make a 30th anniversary edition if they weren't trying to squash the Panthers. Besides, since the Middle East gets all the desirable Panther options, then I would think they'd get an anniversary edition first or at all if there ever was going to be one sold somewhere. Moby Vic
Actually, the Mrs. and I are talking about a new GMQ if we can get rid of our second house note in the near future. Short answer: No. You wouldn't buy one, yet you'll yuk it up over Ford not offering one.
armadamaster
Short answer: No. You wouldn't buy one, yet you'll yuk it up over Ford not offering one. I won't buy a Ranger either because we can't fit in one, and I'll yuk it up over Ford no longer offering one of those when the time comes. :reading:

armadamaster
How pointless. I fail to see how highlighting and discussing the fallacies of poor business decisions is pointless. Unless you have no interest in the auto business, in which case you're on the wrong forum.
Moby Vic
You're criticizing for Ford not making a car that you wouldn't buy. If you were criticizing them for not making a car that you would buy, you might have a point.

Moby Vic
He said he wouldn't. He's been on CrownVic.net for years and he doesn't own a Panther and apparently never has. He just likes them because Chevy quit building RWD BOF Caprices.
armadamaster
I've already said I'll buy one in the foreseeable future, and oddly enough with their doom on the near horizon due to Ford's stupidity, the likelihood of a new one is increased when honestly I would normally go for used. I liked Panthers before GM canned the B-bodies, I just happen to like the B-bodies more.
Moby Vic
Are you gonna buy a fleet vehicle?
johnjyi
Are you gonna buy a fleet vehicle? Well...he did say that he would buy a GMQ. So, who knows? I, personally, wouldn't mind a GMQ w/ the LSE option.
armadamaster
Are you gonna buy a fleet vehicle? That is a good question. Those fresh outta Hertz 12K mile GMQ prices are pretty tempting, but a brand spanking new one can be had here locally at the L/M dealer for $17,995 all day long as well. :stats:

armadamaster
I figured you were more a Crown Vic guy than a Grand Marquis guy. Ehh...I don't really see that much difference between them, short of the P71 option. I can go either way as evidenced by my current daily drivers. I have my 9C1 for that utilitarian stiffer suspension "itch" and I have my RMS for that loaded w/ leather "itch". Between the CV and GMQ, as far as the retail models are concerned, I just don't see that much difference between them, and I've driven multiples of both. The GMQ is a tad nicer inside and out. I see the CV and GMQ more lumped together and then the obvious step up being the TC, but I have not to date driven a Town Car. Moby Vic
The Grand Marquis is just so much frilly drawers to me.
armadamaster
The Grand Marquis is just so much frilly drawers to me. Yeah, it is a little more frilly. Are the GMQ better insulated against sound over the CVs? My RMS is much quieter in the cabin due to extra insulation on the firewall and under the carpet versus the Caprice, wondering if the same was true for the Panthers as you step up the models. Moby Vic
I don't know if there's any more sound insulation or not, but there must be more than my P71 has. What's an RMS? I assume it's some sort of Roadmaster abbreviation.
johnjyi
Sorry to cut in! I don't believe there's more sound insulation compared to the CV at the higher end. I always liked the appearance over the CV. I prefer the vertical grille over the horizontal...for some reason, it just looks better on these cars. Also, the GMQ has more of the reflectors on the trunk lid where the CV does not. Again, for me, it's the overall looks. I just wish they'd put the floor shifter and the handling package w/ dual exhaust options back in. armadamaster
What's an RMS? I assume it's some sort of Roadmaster abbreviation. Oops, B-body forum slang I guess. RMS = RoadMaster Sedan, RMW = RoadMaster Wagon I just wish they'd put the floor shifter and the handling package w/ dual exhaust options back in. You think they would have in order to streamline things for the one shift they are running, not to mention the fact it is their "premium" car for their perspective brands. Instead only CVPIs get it and Middle East destined Panthers. Edited July 1, 2008 by Armada Master
