ford4v429
one thing about truck engines especially- horsepower and max acceleration are misleading in my opinion...peak horsepower on almost all the new stuff is up around 5000 rpm- really now, in a truck how often has your tach ever been up that high...realistically probably .01% or less of the 100,000 miles might be at wide open/redline power levels. However in the 2000-3000 rpm range that >90% of real world driving requires, wouldnt it be nice to have more torque? at 2000 rpm I doubt if the 300 hp mustang 4.6 even makes 100 hp- yet it still gets out of the way with that power level 90% of the time its actually being driven on the road. doubling the bottom end torque, even if requiring a 4k rpm limiter would still feel more powerful in real life driving. like putting a centrifugal vs a positive displacement blower- at the dragstrip they might tie, but in everyday driving the torque boost off idle of the positive type will make it 'feel' far more powerful. so would a longer stroke engine
