FireEMSPolice
At work we have a 2002 Ford Explorer XLS. The odometer is digital and it is dim and barely visible. How do we fix this?
thegeneral
this may sound mean but did you try cleaning the battery post. Maybe the cables too.

01FOCI
this may sound mean but did you try cleaning the battery post. Maybe the cables too. Seriously...? Anyways, assuming you checked that the dimmer switch is not on low and the headlights are off, might try checking the system voltage to see if the Alternator is putting out full power but that would be noticeable with other lights and accessories also so last resort is the panel is going bad. Take it to a reputable mechanic or dealer.
mgazak
I have seen this issue elsewhere on Explorer forums. Apparently this was an issue with some 02 Explorers... it is caused by a cold solder joint on instrument cluster. If you pull the cluster and resolder the bad joint, it should solve the problem. Here's a link to a thread I found on this issue:Odomerter display lights intermittently Hope this helps.
