2014 Mustang Rumors

I believe the Ecoboost rumor, but I have a hard time imaging that Ford is ready to move on from the 5.0 already.

Lighter is always better.

Ditch the backseat and drop 400+ lbs.

Keep the 5.0 as an low cost platform.

3000 curb weight with the present 5 liter would be sick!

300 HP would be optimistic from any currently proposed EcoBoost.

Ford is rumored to be testing a 5.3 liter version of the current 5.0, which makes some sense. There's also a rumored 5.8-liter version of the current GT-500 engine that may be in the works.

I foresee Ford handling the lower trim powertrains much like they are planning to do with the Explorer and Edge and make the more efficient, albeit less powerful EcoBoost 4 cylinder engine a cost option over the continued base 3.7 V6. I can possibly see the 3.5 EB showing up somewhere as well.
