Ford Employee
Got a letter in the mail about signing up to use a retirement planner to manage my Tesphe. Has anyone used this service and do they like or dislike their results. According to their fee schedule I'd have to play close to $150 a month for them to manage my account. $1,800 a year seems a little steep but if they generate a larger return it might be worth it. What are you thoughts on this?

According to their fee schedule I'd have to play close to $150 a month for them to manage my account. $1,800 a year seems a little steep but if they generate a larger return it might be worth it. What are you thoughts on this? I don't know where you see a set dollar amount for the fee. Here is a copy of the fine print of the letter I received. * You must reply by the date listed above to be eligible for this special offer. Program fees will be applied from your enrollment date if you continue Professional Management beyond December 21, 2012. Your employer has arranged for a program fee of no more than 0.45% of your account balance annually. The fee is deducted directly from your account, so there is no bill to pay and no reduction in your take-home pay. You can cancel anytime. Discounts apply for balances over $100,000. X NAP MILLWRIGHT
No one will look out for you except you. Managing your money is a lot of work. A very good resource/ publication is Bob Brinkers Market Timer. Also the Mutual Fund Store has a smart 401K service. Both cost a few hundred dollars but are well worth the money in my opinion. Both are basically self directed. Good luck.
Marginal Economist
Do these guys outperform index funds on a regular basis? I'm hesitant to pay people to manage my money when I don't see a history of them beating the market.
Ford Employee
I don't know where you see a set dollar amount for the fee. Here is a copy of the fine print of the letter I received. Here's a sentence from the letter: " $5 a month for each $10,000 in your account with discounts for larger balances." Hard Driver
I got it too. I don't trust any of these "planners". The only thing they have ever guaranteed my are their fees.
the asphalt rv'er
Do your own investing. Just do your homework. It takes time, but it's well worth it in the long run.
