Intelligent Access / Keyless Entry

I would prefer the intelligent access option most of the time by keeping my key in my pocket but if I'm in a situation where I don't want to take my key with me (no pockets), will intelligent access allow me to lock the key in the car and simply use the keypad to get back in?

I believe so but I'm not 100% sure. It's something I have been meaning to try but hadn't gotten around to it. I do know that if you leave the car running and take the key with you the car honks at you, which is really annoying. If three is any way to turn that "feature" off I'd be very happy.

Yes, you can intentionally lock your key in the car.

When you electronically lock your vehicle
using the driver or passenger power door
lock control (with any door open, vehicle
in park and ignition off), the vehicle will
search for an intelligent access key in the
passenger compartment after you close
the last door. If your vehicle finds a key, all
of the doors will immediately unlock and
the horn will sound twice, indicating that
a key is inside.
You can override the smart unlock feature
and intentionally lock the intelligent access
key inside your vehicle. To do this, lock your
vehicle after all doors are closed by:
• using the keyless entry keypad
• pressing the lock button on another
intelligent access key
• touching the locking area on the handle
with another intelligent access key in
your hand.
When you open one of the front doors and
lock your vehicle using the power door lock
control, all doors will lock then unlock if:
• the ignition is on, or
• the ignition is off and your vehicle is not
in P.

If you do this, I would take advantage of programming another number into the system other than using the factory number. That way you can cycle the number for security reasons. Its easy as I have already done it. I would not use the factory number in public as it does not appear you can remove it and its always active.
