pupcom
I recently ordered a 2013 F-150 FX4 with a 5' 6" bed from Waldorf Ford in Waldorf, MD. Amoung the items I wanted was the pop outs on the bed rails so I could install the pop up tie downs. I was assured the pop outs would be on the truck when I ordered it. Well, I got the call yesterday around noon that the truck was in. While talking to the sales guy, I asked him to make sure the pop ups were on the bed rails before I got there that evening. After I got to the dealership around 6pm however, upon inspection of the truck, I found that there were no pop outs. I told the sales guy that the bed rails did not have the pop outs as I had requested and even asked about multiple times. He said he didn't know why they weren't on there. I asked him to see if the dealer could install them since I ordered it that way. He left and came back to say they didn't have any in stock. So I asked him about taking rails off another truck in the lot. He again left and came back to say no other trucks on the lot have the pop outs. The manager even came out and "helped him look". So I left the dealership, upset WITHOUT the truck that I have been waiting on for 8 weeks! UPDATE: I went home after the dealership and got online and researched the part for myself and found that Ford does not offer the pop outs on the 5' 6" bed rails. I wish the dealership knew about the product that they are selling. I'm not sure if I should go back to get the truck or just go order one from a different dealer who knows what's what and won't try to pull a fast one. - Undecided FX4 buyer? Pioneer
What would you order from the other dealership, knowing that the item you want isn't available with the bed length you want?
blazerdude20
Pioneer brings up a good point. Would you purchase another f150 with a longer bed that has the option? Otherwise you might as well buy the truck you ordered and turn to the after market. Perhaps you can negotiate the dealer to pay part of the parts cost since they misinformed you. Good luck!
