  1. I was thinking of the old Land Rovers where you could close the top and keep the bottom open. Providing a ledge to stand on. Appears no modern SUV does that.
  2. A split tailgate would be fantastic! Especially for people who carry things on the roof like skis or kayaks.
  3. I wonder if this gives a quick boost to Mach-E and Lightning sales. The biggest reason to get a Tesla is their charging network, which is by far the most robust and reliable. Couple access to that network with the price cuts/rebates on the Mach-E and suddenly you’re a fair bit cheaper than the Model Y. With Minimal difference in charging experience.
  4. Dang! Thanks for the info. Guess I’ll be waiting till they change the base port to buy a Lightning.
  5. Does anyone know if you can use this adaptor on home charging with a Tesla charger. We have a Model Y and a gas F-150… if I got a lightning, I’d prefer to not have two charging stations at my house.
  6. The ability to easily tap into the 12V system in the bed is great as well. We added a 12V outlet back there for an inverter and large Anker battery . Charges the battery while driving. Battery pack then keeps tools charged when on sites (or fridge for camping).
  7. We just bought our first Maverick for work last month. Canopy on top to keep equipment dry and haul Ladders. So far so good. It’s a test run for us to replace transit connects as Ford isn’t making them going forward. Now if only we could get an AWD Hybrid version. And adaptive cruise on an XLT. ?
  8. Looks like the first domino to fall post-new deal. I can only assume this it to head off any efforts to unionize Toyotas plants. https://www.autoblog.com/2023/11/01/toyota-raises-pay-across-the-board-in-response-to-historic-uaw-deals/
  9. Been charging my Y at home for about two months now. I pay $0.0743 per kWh. When I use a super charger it’s $0.21 per kWh.
  10. First of all, those poor babies. Hopefully she no longer has parental rights to them as she clearly isn’t concerned with their well being. Second of all, I live near Portland and we have a TON of trouble with shop lifting. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of an hour long trip to shop lift. They try to get in and out in under 5 minutes to avoid bringing attention to themselves. Clearly not a very bright individual.
  11. Assuming regulatory requirements don’t force fully BEV lineup, Ford still has all of the plans and specs from previous models. Worst to worst they will put the ICE vehicles back/continue production. Perhaps with emergency refreshes. My guess is if there is a large scale pullback on BEV production timelines, the entire industry will have this same query. So it won’t be as detrimental for competitiveness.
  12. Still way too long. The 2020 Explorer went on sale June of 2019. We are talking about close to 5 years before a refresh. For a vehicle that was widely panned as taking a step back on the interior design/materials. Ford really needs to stick to 3 year refresh, 2 more before new top hat.
  13. Wow. How can UAW rank and file sit there be ok with Fain representing all of them? I have a lightning order that just shipped. I am thinking I will hold off until any Ford purchase until he is gone. Might just end up with a new Tundra after all. I refuse to support a racist and anti-Semite. I guarantee there are many more (liberal or conservative) who will act in kind to this.
  14. While it doesn’t help right now with on going strikes, one has to wonder at what point Ford dusts off plans for the San Luis Potosí plant.
  15. “The rim tilts around the axis of the wheel spokes, and can be set in three positions. The first is the typical driving position. The second is angled at about 45 degrees, for working on a laptop. A removable plastic tray stored in a slot between the front seats when not in use is laid over the rim, held in place by the tab that flips up at the bottom of the wheel. This tab also keeps the laptop from sliding off the surface. The third position is near horizontal, designed for eating.“ https://www.autoblog.com/2023/10/11/2024-ford-transit-custom-steering-wheel-converts-to-desk-table/
  16. I run a company that provides health coverage to our union employees. Our plan is 100% employer paid premium, with zero deductible to members. 85% coverage. No cost change wether the employee is single or has a family of five… It costs us $18k per employee per year. Our costs are a little lower as we work in tandem with the union to have a self insured plan. Saves ~10% due to admin reductions. Pension costs are ~$25k per employee and increasing… it will likely be bought out in the next two years. I cannot fathom ANY company willingly adding more liability to bring back pensions. It is terrible for the company and essentially holds employees hostage to the company/union.
  17. https://www.motorauthority.com/news/1140916_ford-bluecruise-1-2-review “As I passed a semi, I noticed that both the vehicle itself, and the image of the vehicle on the digital gauge cluster, scooched left and hugged the shoulder. Once past the semi the Corsair moved back into the center of the lane. This happened every time we passed a vehicle to varying degrees. Ford has now programmed the system to move over in the name of safety. “
  18. Sure seems like Ford and UAW may reach a deal sooner than later. We just went through this in my industry recently and it was very stressful. Finally went to binding arbitration in DC where a board imposed a contract upon the companies and the union members. No one is particularly happy on either side but the deal is reasonable and fair in my opinion.
  19. I like the interior. It’s a nice update overall. The real question is seating position. Have they fixed that or are you still sitting almost directly on the floorboard?
  20. “Ford document earlier this month advising that after the BlueCruise trial period ends in a 2023.5 Mustang Mach-E, owners can "subsequently activate the technology through an annual ($800/yr.) or monthly ($75/mo.) subscription." The short story is that many Mach-E shoppers and owners were expecting to pay a renewal price of $600 for three years, or $200 per year. The new pricing means renewal costs either $800 in a lump sum or $900 paid over the course of a year. “ https://www.autoblog.com/2023/05/19/2023-5-ford-mustang-mach-e-bluecruise-subscription-renewal-gets-huge-price-increase/
