glenndibler
I have a 2011 F350 4X4 Lariat with 33,000 mile that the Service Advance Trac light required came on suddenly and the brakes locked up. Can a bad ABS module cause this?
chefduane
Any number of things could cause that. Did you pull any codes? That would be the first thing to do.
glenn1946
DROPPED IT OFF AT THE FORD GARAGE SATURDAY AFTERNOON BRAKES LOCKING AND SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC LIGHT ON, FRONT WHEELS THEY DIDN'T HAVE A MECHANIC AVAILABLE TO CHECK CODES, MONDAY MORNING WHEN MECHANIC CHECKED NO CODES AND THE CHECK ADVANCETRAC LIGHT WAS OFF. WHEN THEY DROVE IT IT RAN FINE. ANY IDEAS WHAT WOULD CAUSE THIS? Followup 8/28/2018 Is it possible for a leak in the brake hydraulic system to cause the advancetrac to lock fron brakes and turn on the service advancetrac problem to happen. The dealership found a hydraulic leak in the front brakes and repaired it and then returned it to me due to the only codes were generic in that it says there was a fault somewhere. My concern is the issue just lurking in the background waiting to happen again. Any insite on this would be greatly appreciated. fordtech1
Unfortunately there are so many things it could be. Could be anything from a yaw sensor to a speed sensor to a module. I'm surprised no memory codes were retrieved.
chefduane
"...they didn't have a mechanic available to check codes?" Huh? I'm a chef and I can pull codes and check what they mean. Doesn't take a mechanic.
glenn1946
On Saturdays they only do oil changes so there were no line mechanics available. How does one check the codes without special equipment? Edited July 26, 2017 by glenn1946
chefduane
All it takes is a OBD-II reader available at any auto parts store. Plug it in and get the code(s). Then type it in your favorite search engine.
