I don't think that it's a problem.We are going to shelter the $70K into an RRSP, so if you're going into mutual funds the longer wait has resulted in lower fund prices and higher GIC rates. It's not like we need the funds for day to day living. What about the final pay cheque? I left June 1 and was told that it would be ready in 2 weeks. I feel thats more of a concern.

The G.M. sales declined 15.3% in /0 6 (18.4% /05) The T.C. decline was 16.6% /06 (9.5% /05 ) The C.V. decline was only 1.5% /0 6 (9.5% /05) It's easy to see where the sales are trending.I don't think a redesign of the G.M. would show a signifigant increase to offset the costs involved.The probability of the G.M. being discontinued in 2-3 years I think would be fairly high.I guess that would leave STAP as Ford's sole supplier for the large car fleet market.

I don't know a lot of guys with more than 35 years seniority. Those of us with the seniority to decide will put family considerations first,as I'm sure those with less than 28.1 years would. I think it's agreed that the $70K will be the final offer.Regarding that..I won't be getting $70K and I doubt most will.I have room to top up just over $50K into a RRSP,spousal or individual it's the same amount.The rest will be taxed at around 35%. Lots of people have maxed out RRSP's so they would pay tax on the full amount.Some people I've talked to find it better to stay,work steady days and with their seniority have a decent non production job.I guess the luxury of having more than 28.1 years seniority is that you have a choice. My choice will be to go.

I have 29 years and i'm around 450 on the plant wide seniority list.Thats 450 with more seniority and not including trades.

maybe later today we'll find out when we go to one shift.I agree one shift is a death knell for the plant but it also keeps our head above water for a few years at least.And treading water is better than sinking.

seems to me we will be the large car DSO plant.The G.M. sales have been dropping steadily for the last few years,4036 in Aug./06 with the C.V. 5100 and the T.C. 2600.The T.C. might also have a long wheelbase version.It doesn't look like Ford is about to conceed that segment of the market.With the C.V and T.C. basicly just fleet sales I doubt Ford will invest in a significant redesign.And of course 1 shift is better than none.
