Is there any word on where the 4.4L V8 thats supposed to be used in the MkS and Fairlane is going to be built?

Well if GM didnt have the UAW hanging around its neck like it does and was able to cut its fat faster then it is currently, I'd say its a good move, but if they can't turn themselves around in the next 2-3 years, they'll be bankrupt before they can ever afford to buy back GMAC

Would you take that same 15-20% paycut because you didnt have any other options? I doubt that depending on the area you live and the job skills you have that you would find something that pays as well as Ford does... So it more or less boils down to...job with 15-20% less pay or no job at all or job with 40-50% pay cut...

The problem in compairing 1937 to 2006, is that Dephi's current management team doesnt care if they go out of business or not, because they'll take down everyone else with them. I dont see how the UAW has any power going forward with this unless they cut their own nose off to spite themselfs.

WTF? I'd figure it would be closer to the 200K mark or so... have to figure that this would be a big seller in the F-250/350 and the Expy XL models...or they are just way under shooting the demand for it

The world changes....go back to the 1930's and see how many jobs have dissapeared since then due to changes in the world. Same thing is happening now. You can't be fat and stupid any more and get a good paying job out of High School...its been like that for over 20 years now. As for the Middle class disappearing....lets see, I work in the IT field for almost 8 years and I make nearly the same amount as my old Man did working as skilled trades for 25 plus years with Ford. Thats just with a Techincal certificate and some certifications. I'm going to college now to get my BS in Info Tech. i also did 4 yrs active duty and another 4 years in the Guard....

Of course they are....Unions are becoming paracidic to their host companies... A fine exampe of this is what Happened to Johnson and Johnson...they where manufacturing band aids and what not at a plant in New Brunswick, NJ. From the story I heard...people who where working there (some 30-40 years with some people) where pulling in a 6 figure salary and to make matters worse, they where intentonally working "slow" so they could get OT on the weekends to make their quotas! When they went on strike, the non-union J&J employees would goto work in the factory and out produce the union workers that where out on strike! Not to mention all the dirtballs that the company couldnt get rid of (hmmm sounds familar).. I have no problems with Unions, but when they are killing off their hosts (companies) due to plain greed on their part...they need to get bitched slapped. There should be some parity and I dont care, there is no reason why someone who is working at a company for 20-30 years making band aids needs to make a 6 figure salary.

Even so, by the time GM is done with them, they suck...the Ion and Colbot where based off their European counterparts, but well they aren't excactly knocking anyones socks off here.

i saw a Fusion SE in the light tan color interior color last week and my first thought was that the door panels looked cheap in it. But it could have been the color.

I think the bigger news here is that Saab has been totally fucked over by GM...at least Ford didnt fuck up Volvo

More rebates? LOL The Sky isnt going to do much...its too limited production and the Aura is based on the Malibu platform. Sure it looks nice, but I bet you $100 bucks that GM fucks it up some how.

Well call a spade a spade now...The "new" Escape is still based on its current platform, which in my eyes is just a Reskin of the the current product, which looks like just a new front end to me. I haven't spent time to see what the difference is on the sides or rear of the truck, but it looks like Greenhouse is still the same to me. I'm sure we'll see the newer 221HP 3L from the Fusion in it and most likely the same 6 speed tranny as the Fusion also, because the Fusion and Milan are getting AWD, BUT no 3.5L, at least for the 2007 MY from what I can tell. Its a nice update, but still 6 months for an update and not a totally new design? I guess we'll get that in 2011 or so...

Gm put out a plan on where it wants to go with its brands and Saturn is supposed get a European influnace, which means Opals with different badging..the Aura and Sky look almost excactly like their european counter parts.

For some reason I still think it wont make much of a difference...hell I have the chemically treated wiper fluid that is made for deicing and it still freezes on my windshield if I'm going over 10-15 mph.

I'm Suprised that the plant is closing for 6 months to retool...awfuly long time for vehicle that seems just to be getting a reskin....
