  1. A person " in the know" supposedly says that the "Road Runner" is not a 5.0 sized engine. Any idea what that might be and its application? Thanks.
  2. Any shot that this new platform would be aluminum? I know it is hugely expensive but to get to the new CAFE standards Ford is going to need more than Dual Clutch Tansmissions and Ecoboost engines. Lighter weight cars is the best way to up mpg and still have performance. Without aluminum I do not see the mustang having any significant weightloss especially if the new GRWD has IRS.
  3. Blue II, didn't you once say there was a : 5.0 mod (destroked 5.4) 5.0 Boss/Hurricane 5.0 Jag engine all being considered. To me the Boss/Hurricane would make the most sense, it is newer than the MOD and should be an improved architecture and while I am sure the Jag unit would be great it would probably be more expensive and with Ford selling jag unlikely. So I vote for the Boss/Hurricane version
  4. I thought Blue II at one time said the MKS would not debut with DI. If the MKS debuts with DI and gets the Twin Force 6 months later I do not see a problem with that. I do have a problem if its a 3 year wait ala the 500 with the 3.0 waiting for the 3.5
  5. This article has some good info about future diesels for the major truck manufacturers. Says the 4.4 will start rolling off the line in mexico in 2008 and the 6.7 6 months later. Maybe these will just be test engines and not production this would seem to point to them being available aleast by early 2009. http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:S3_x9...;cd=1&gl=us
  6. Not really a whole lot of new information but this article has some stuff about the twin-Force and DSG in it from Kuzak. http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/29/live-fr...08-model-previ/
  7. Blue II has mentioned a 2.5 GTTDI for an upcoming fusion and the 3.5 GTTDI has been seen in the MKR concept and has had alot of discussion about it. Blue II has also mentioned a 5.0 V-8 GTTDI whether a mod or new Hurricane. This however would seem to be the first official mention from a Ford source. Thanks for the heads up I will have to go check out the library and see what it has to say.
  8. At the rate ford is going I wouldn't plan on seeing them in any Ford before 2017
  9. I am with you wescoent. How long does ford take to do something right. You would think after the debut of the 500 and the negative press that it recieved for being underpowered that ford would learn from this. It seems odd that they can't have this ready for spring of 2008. I will admit I don't know a whole lot about the process of developing and engine from conception to production but the length of time it seems to be taking has me concerned. Cadillac has its direct injection V6 coming out this fall and at this rate Ford will be 2 years behind atleast on that front. Just once I would like to be able to say that Ford is doing something on the technology front before the other domestics in reguards to powertrains. I am not asking them to beat out BMW or Lexus. Thanks always to Blue II for the info even if as late it seems like its bad news.
  10. So is the mks not getting a DI 3.7 at intro
  11. Somebody for the love of god tell me how making a D3 Taurus X, D3 Flex, and D3 Explorer makes any sense. Te only thing that makes any sense to me is to can the Taurus X, produce the Flex and have an expedition based on on a more traditional truck chassis otherwise all three seem to be competing for the same market. I thought Ford finally realized they needed to focus on cars and not rely so heavily on trucks, apparently the new focus is large CUVs. Wouldn't it make sense to not use money up developing three similar vehicles and maybe use some of that money for maybe a global rwd platform or some updated powertrains before the next decade.
  12. Count me in on that. Not a huge fan of forced induction but if it is the new "Hurricane" architecture and Direct injection that can easily be overlooked. 2 questions, are we talking about an Aluminum block or CGI? Also on another thread you stated job1 for the truck 6.2 was april 2009. What would the time frame be on this engine are we talking about 2012 with the all new mustang or sooner? As always Blue II you have the most interesting posts with inside info. Thanks for posting
  13. Is there some benefit to ford for doing this. Why not use the new engine architecture, I would think the BOSS engine would have been designed to address some of the issues of the MOD motor and it would cheaper to develope one V8 engine architecture versus two
  14. I not so worried about them ruining the mustang I was just stating that one of its selling points to me was going to be the new V8, without it I am less interested thats all. While I agree that the MODs are fine motors,my 5.4 in my truck has been good, I would like to see ford move on and make some progress in the engine department. I don't know that a MOD 4.6 can get 400hp without forced induction, which I don't want. As a gearhead I like new gadgets and technologies. For me the new BOSS motor was going to be it, all the better if it was a CGI Block or Direct injecttion or whatever else they could of thought up.
  15. I don't care what the size is I just want a V8, it could be a 5.2 5.6 whatever. Just something other than the old MOD motors. I am not saying ford won't come up with something but I am to the stage where I will believe it when I see it.
