RE: Tire Recall - Had a 99 Ranger that was part of the recall, my 99 EX had Generals so it wasn't recalled. Never had a tire blow out on the Ranger, thank goodness, but did get a new set of tires.
I also saw that test done on the EX with a blown tire and it basically proved the majority of the issue was the driver. Sure depending on the surface of the road, speed, how the seperation occured and many other factors could have played into these EX's rolling over, but simply was too many roll-overs can be attributed to the driver. Just like most accidents (not all) are caused by driver error not a faulty vehicle.
Now if everyone remembers, Firestone also was part of the recall and this effected more vehicles than just EX's. I remember seeing pics of an S10 Blazer & Toy Compact Truck that rolled due to the tire blowout. Problem was the EX got most the heat because there were more of these tires installed on the EX than any other vehicle. This was due to the fact they came stock on the EX, while aftermarket on every other vehicle.
Titan vs Tundra - Not too fond of either. Both seem to have their goods/bads, but neither appeal to me stylewise. I like the #'s these trucks put down, but I'd rather have a proven solid reliable truck than one that simply goes fast. Toy has a more reputable name than Nissan (brainwashing), Nissan is not the "Newest Biggest Baddest" truck on the road anymore in peoples eyes, Toy is spending over $100M in advertising while Nissan doesn't spend nearly that amount, Incetives for the Tundra are higher than the Titan.
I know in my area, the dealers are having higher incentives on every model except the CrewMax 5.7L 4X4's SR5 or Limited. They are overloaded with everyother model, 4X4/4X2, Reg/DblCab & 4.0L/4.7L/5.7L. People seem to want want the biggest baddest model.
