  1. Unfortunately, the 09 Escape soldiers on with Gas engine powered AC.
  2. I beleive the SAT button is for the Sirius Kit only.
  3. Has anyone else noticed that the 2008 3.0L V6 oil filter is in a pretty much impossible place to access without burning yourself on the exhaust flange and Oxygen sensor? The 01-04s were tight, and the 05-07 seemed easier to access (looked like they changed the oil filter adapter design to have easier access?). Now the 2008, I see that they have moved the Manifold 'farther' from the oil pan, which restricts access to the oil filter and now its almost damn near impossible to access the oil filter without pulling the plastic shield down thats part of the lower radiator shield. Did they think about this when they made the change? The flange and O2 sensor are RIGHT in the way of removing the filter one one side, the other side is the AC compressor and line. Even on a lift, its hard to remove the filter without burning the crap out of your arm to access the filter. And whats the reason for the drain plugs being finger tight, but the oil filter being applied with a million ft-lbs of torque? I've changed oil on 6 2008 V6 escapes, and every one of them has an oil filter that is impossibly tight. I'd like to hear others experiences with removing the oil filters on these 2008s....
  4. Yes they are..... https://www.fleet.ford.com/showroom/2008fle...ownvictoria.asp Look at Option Code 41G and 41K. HPP and LXSport respectively.....
  5. Finally says "2008" Towncar. :happy feet: It said 2007 when I looked yesterday.
  6. I drive by that car everyday, seen it at the same car lot since before thanksgiving.
  7. yeah. the 05s I drove were early build, so at some point I'm sure they reflashed it to become better. IIRC, Ford went with the Intake with the aluminum crossover on panthers when they went to the PI heads, so thats 2001+. More than likely, some of the 98-00 cars would already have the improved intake. They're not hard to replace anyway, just need an afternoon and some cold beverages. Yup, Crown American handles it, and I thought that the cars are shipped thru Crown American, but the sunroof kits are ASC Kits (Model 840). I know my 04 Marauder had a VIN of 2MHHM vs 2MEHM, the 3rd Character "H" in the Mercury Sequence is "Incomplete Vehicle", and all the 04 Marauders with that numbering were equipped with the Sun/Moon Roof. I think they did get the shorty overhead console too, not sure if that was factory or installed at crown. Either way, the fit and finish is pretty damn good. I had no idea it was not factory installed until later. BTW, both my Marauder's fit and finish are excellent. The blue one even makes your ears pop a little when you shut the door. STAP guys are really cranking out some nice cars nowadays. I'm just jealous that Ford Middle east can still get LX SPorts. we cant even get vics now
  8. Telltale Sign would be the switch in the trunk on the left side on the carpet. I personally like the rear air susp, at least when you have 2 people in the back, its not sitting on the ground. As far as Performance mods, there are quite a few. I personally feel that the 05 cars don't drive that well (I've driven several, Civilian as well as CVPI) and the 05 was the first year for the "Drive By Wire" and I feel that Ford didnt have it just right the first year. I drove a 06 Towncar and the throttle feel was much different, but thats nothing that some tuning/reflash can't fix. Oh yeah, the 05 CV/GM has the antenna on the quarter panel too. Anyway, you have made a great choice for a car. I've owned them all from an 87 to my current 03 Marauder, and my 04 Marauder gave itself to save my life. Drive a 98-02 car, and then drive a 03+ car. Even though they are similar, the frames are different, and they drive slightly different. The 98-02's feel 'heavier' and the 03+ feel 'lighter' i.e. more nimble, but less planted than a 98-02 car, but thats just my personal opinion. I like how both of them drive, just in a different way. AS far as brakes, some MM owners run Command Automotive Cryogenic Rotors on their cars, which are less prone to fading and warping, and combined with some more aggressive pads will help pull it to a stop quicker, although I think our cars stop pretty good as is. You can find TONS of ex rentals on ebay with under 20K miles for under 15K, most of the CV LX cars have the Premier Group with the leather wheel, redundant controls, and EATC. The occassional LX sport pops up there too, with the 17" 5 spoke wheels and HPP package, floor shift and buckets. Those are a nice ride too! The 93-02 Lacy Spoke wheels were Italian Made BBS Wheels (look on the inside of them). They looked nice but were almost impossible to get totally clean. My dad had one, I hated cleaning them! Good luck with your search!
  9. I stand corrected then. I was almost sure the floorpan was different, as I tried to install some 91 leather seats into my 88 Vic many years ago and they did not bolt up, yet I see people putting later 98+ Panther Seats into older cars with no problems.... I just searched here.....A little talk about floorpans.... http://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/ubbthre...=true#Post75268
  10. But totally new Floorpan in 1991, and new Frame in 2003. Front Fenders have been the same (except the antenna hole) 92-07, and Rear doors changed from 97 to 98 didnt they?
  11. Lots of cars use a 5X4.5 Bolt Pattern. Offsets and backspacing may be different from year to year, they may stick out or stick 'in' too much, but they'll bolt up. Jeep Cherokee Jeep Grand Cherokee Jeep Wrangler Toyota Camry Toyota Avalon Toyota Tacoma (5 lug) Lexus ES330 Lexus ES350 Lexus LS400/430/460 Lexus GS Nissan Murano Nissan Maxima Infiniti G35/M35/M45 Infiniti Q Series Infiniti FX Series Chrysler LX Platform (300/Charger/Magnum, previous gen Intriepid, LHS, 300M) Ford Mustang Ford Ranger/B Series Ford Explorer/Mazda Navajo Ford Escape/Mariner/Tribute US Postal Right Hand Drive Trucks (Some based on explorer Sport Chassis) All I can think of for now. Theres a guy in my neighborhood that has a 300 Touring on 22s and he put the 18" rims on his wifes ES330. Bolted right up.
  12. Local Dealer has GM GS with Full Sized Spare, Power driver seat, keyless entry for 15,999 every weekend with 7 to choose from. Has to be one of the best values out there. Why would you buy a Camry or Accord when you can get something this nice?
  13. Thanks! I'm the third owner. The original owner ordered it, and kept it garaged/sunday driver, and the 2nd owner had it as a garage queen as well. I have driven it four times, and she stays in the garage. 10,219 miles on her! Build quality is superb and people are amazed that its a "Four year old car" :happy feet:
  14. Question: In states such as Texas, that require a front and rear license plate brackets, when you order from Ford, (Front Lic Bracket is no charge option) does it leave the factory with it installed, or does it get installed by the dealer? I was always under the impression that if it was ordered as a factory option, it would be installed before it left.... I've always seen them pre installed upon arriving off the trucks at the dealer....;
  15. Local paper here has a LM Dealer Selling 07 GM GS With Keyless, Full Size Spare Tire and Power Driver Seat for 15,999; 10 to choose from, every weekend.
  16. This is sad. I have had a Crown Vic / Panther in my life as long as I can remmber, from riding in my Dads CV company cars, all the way to now. I'm sad to see the CV go. Of course we can still pick up used Units from Hertz and Budget....who knows for how long. I like the styling of the CV better, don't really care for the Chevy Uplander nose on the Grand Marquis. I'll keep the Marauder as my garage queen until further notice...... Thank you STAP for building this car. As some of you remember, my Dark Toreador Red Marauder Saved my life......Here's her replacement....
  17. The Crown Victoria has been removed from the FordVehicles.com website...... http://www.fordvehicles.com/cars/
  18. I can't go into detail about the wreck, but I can tell you the extent of the damage..... Trust me, it looks a LOT worse in person. Frame damage, core support, 3 of the 4 airbags (pass side seat bag didnt go off), every rim was damaged, rear axle moved over about 4" inches and the right rear wheel was rubbing against the frame, and axle was locked up, Every single door had damage, the skins were punctured, front end damage, rear bumper damage, both quarter dog legs damaged, tie rod end snapped, hood bent at the edge, etc etc. To the tune of almost 18Gs. Read my first post bucky, 3 of the 4 bags did deploy, which was probably a lot of the reason I did infact walk away unharmed. And yes I'm in the Houston area. Again if you read my first post, I don't drive anything but Panthers. The only mitsubishi I own is a TV.
