  1. Turn off the autolamp feature, and turn the headlights on and off manually, and this will not happen.
  2. One of the features of the Mercury, but I find that the support does not "extend" as much as it did on my Crown Vic. While it does help, I was hoping for more support. You should try one out before even thinking of changing the seat.
  3. Has anyone been able to get the Scan Gauge to read Traction Battery temperature? The suggested settings do not work for me on a '09 MMH AWD. Any suggestions?
  4. I agree about the horn. Hope someone has a good suggestion. As to the leather stains, I have them too. Actually started around 500 miles! I used Lexol leather clener (Ace Hardware) which seemed to work well, followed by their leather conditioner. I know Meguires also makes some good products.
  5. There have been discussions here about the lock-out of some functions of the Nav unit while in Drive. While I understand Ford's liability reasons for doing this, many feel that a passenger should be able to input data while the car is moving. I do not want to start a discussion as to the benefits/dangers of doing so, but would like to know if anyone has any first-hand information about this unit, which says it will do just that with SYNC - equipped cars? http://www.coastaletech.com/synclockpick.htm An e-mail to them was replied to quickly, saying that installation and operation should be very similar to that shown in their Liincoln video on the site: "We do not have any other install videos available yet for the Sync lockpick however as long as your vehicle has a sync radio with a harddrive then the lockpick will work. The installation wil be very similar to the installation for the MKS the only difference would be reomoving the trim around the radio." Ron
  6. Anyone have any experience with these deflectors? I am considering the dark smoke ones for my new '09 MMH, but am not sure as to how well they fit or if they inerfere with fully raising the window. Also, if they block the view through the side view mirrors?
  7. I am the owner of an ’09 MMH, and have a question on battery charging. I understand that the 12V (under hood) battery is used to power accessories, and to close the contacts to the HV battery, which spins the electric motor, which starts the ICE. That means that the HV battery must have sufficient charge to start the ICE. If the car stands idle for a long period, the manual mentions that the 12V battery will have to be charged or jumped, but is there any way (any need?) to be able to charge the HV battery? I have read about a switch on older FEH/MMH models to “jump start” the HV battery from the 12V one, but can find no mention of it in the ’09 manual. Is there a way to charge the HV battery after a long period of no activity?
  8. I agree that you should be in Park before shutting down the car, but with conventional hydraulic brakes even if the engine dies, you DO have brakiing; it is VERY hard to push down on the brake pedal, but you can achieve braking. Since the FEH/MMH use an electrionically controlled braking system, perhaps things are different.
  9. I am also new to the hybrid, with only about 300 miles on my MMH, but I have found that I need to re-learn how to apply pedal pressure The accelerator seems very sensitive and it is easy to drop in and out of HEV with only slight pressure on the pedal. Perhaps this is what you are experiencing?
  10. General question; when you fill up, do you always stop when the pump stops pumping, rather than topping off? Assuming that you do not (can not) go back to the same station and the same pump every time, does one really get an accurate readimg of MPG?? I have found that pumps differ in when they cut off, which makes the ammount pumped on a 'refill" somewhat arbitrary.
  11. I have seen reference to monitoring SOC (using the SCII,) but in looking through the downloaded manual, I can find no mention of this gauge. An e-mail to the company brought this response from Scott: "The ScanGaugeII will only measure the actual voltage of your car's battery. It appears that the SCII monitors many of the same items as my '09 MMH, but I would like to monitor engine temp, and SOC of the HV battery, and wonder if the SCII will really be of use to me? I would appreciate some comments from users. Thanks!
  12. There is also one at the back of the center console. You can slip the smaller (about 4x6 inches and about 2 inches deep) of the two center console 'containers' into it. The larger 'container' will also fit in the rear slot, although no one would be able to sit in the rear center seat. Good if you want to use all the space in the center console, and not take the units out of the car. It is not mentioned anywhere I could find in the manual, and only one dealer out of the 3 I visited knew about it!
  13. I am considering purchasing a FEH from a dealer in neighboring NJ, where they seem to have some in stock, but before I contact the dealer, I would like to know how future warranty work would proceed with a local dealer here in NY?
  14. I have to agree with Walt. Fuel economy vs personal comfort. My FEH is on order, but I do not forsee myself being overly concerned about the AC, other wise just open the windows and step back to the 1960s when AC was an option. Would you opt to NOT have it?
