  1. I got a postcard from my dealer letting me know they'd give me $50 off a sync upgrade to add 911 Assist and Vehicle Health Report. I thought Ford advertised the 911 assist and Vehicle Health Report as part of the 2009 FEH & FEHL? I bet someone's going to tell me "you should have asked for this to be part of the "owed from dealers" punch list" before you bought it. Syncmyride site also says "dealer fee may apply". Any idea of what this is going to cost me? Or how I can get around it?
  2. Eric The only way I've found to change the volume is when you're actually on a call (via the volume knob on the radio). I haven't tested to see if goes back to the same volume after I'm done with that call and go to another call. I posted a thread in this forum about how to adjust the voice prompt volume, and I tested the ability (with the Nav radio) to mute the voice prompts while independently raising the phone volume. There's also advice in that post on how to adjust the volume if you don't have the Nav system (via a link to another forum).
  3. Ahh, no nav. Try this thread, it recommends the voice adjustment. I can't test it for you but it's worth a shot. If it works, spread the love and post the resolution here and on the owner to owner forum at SyncMyRide.com.
  4. Ok now that is really cool! Just went out and tried it and I'm amazed Ford isn't marketing this as a "configurable" console. I was moaning to my wife about not having an ash tray to put trash in while we're on road trips and now I have an option. I'll snap some pics tomorrow for the forum.
  5. Ok, I can't believe you guys focused on the cruise controlf of all things. Here's what I recommend as top improvements for the FEH - add insulation. the FEH is louder under gas mode than the 1995 Ford Explorer that it replaced. - cupholders. Bow out the door holders just a bit to accomodate a water bottle. put a cup holder in the rear seat armrests - extra USB port in console and/or glove box - rear net for cargo area to hold groceries, etc. - add homelink to the visor. yes, we have a garage for our new car. - keep date/time on all the time on the dash display (yes, you can do this for us now) - offer the same interior seat/dash color options as the escape gas. stone does not look good with silver - offer the same exterior colors as the escape gas. - move the sirius/GPS antenna/wart off the left front area of roof. - upgrade the fit/finish. the interior lights, visors & door panels look cheap - fix the way the rear seats fold so that you don't have to remove the headrest. Some cars make them flip down when you disengage the rear seat lock Did I mention add insulation?
  6. Has anyone noticed there's a big notch on the FEH passenger side console that looks like it's meant to accommodate a mount? Any ideas on why this is there?
  7. Sync status checker latest version is 1.1 on syncmyride.com. However, I found out from Ford (via the chat feature on Sync) that all 09's are preinstalled with the latest Sync version from the factory. I confirmed this by installing the status checker and validating that the latest version of Sync is indeed on there.
  8. Ford finally got back with me. 800x480. -----Original Message----- From: sync@ford.com [mailto:sync@ford.com] Sent: Tuesday, November 11, 2008 11:24 AM Subject: Resolution for The Next Gen. Navigation Hello James, Sorry for the long delay in getting the answer for you. The answer to the question you asked on Oct. 20th on what the resolution would be for the Next Generation Navigation. The screen will display a pixel resolution of 800 x 480. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact the Sync/Navigation support center at 800-392-3673 option 3 Sincerely, The Sync Support Team B.K.
  9. Sure you can. Start your car and then hit the sync button on your steering wheel and when Gertrude (my daughter's name for the Sync lady) says "Please say a command", turn the volume knob up or down to your liking. There are actually 3 ways (from page 35 of the navigation guide). You can find links to the manuals here. ADJUSTING THE VOICE PROMPT VOLUME There are three different ways you can adjust the voice volume: •When the system is speaking, turn the volume knob to decrease or increase the volume. OR 1.Press the MENU hard button on the navigation system. 2.Select the ‘Feedback Settings’ tab. 3.Press + to increase or — to decrease the voice volume levels. OR 1.Press VOICE on the steering wheel. A tone will sound followed by the prompt, “Please say a command.” Another tone will sound signaling the system is ready to accept your command. 2.Say “Voice volume decrease ”or“ Voice volume increase”.
  10. I noticed while using the sync interface to my 09 FEHL Nav system that USB2 came up. Is there a second USB port in the FEH Nav system? If so, where is it located?
  11. All Yes, it's true. I found (via cars.com) a brand new Brilliant Silver FEHL FWD ON THE LOT at Frank Jackson Ford in Atlanta. The dealer, Randy Johnson Ford, sold it to me at the X-Plan price (including dealer fees) and was very easy to deal with. I was in and out in about 2 hours from start to finish. Better yet, they are getting 2 additional FEH's that will be arriving in the next 30 days. One of them will be Silver and I believe the other is White. If you're interested, call Rheanna ("Rihanna") O'Sullivan at 888.826.8510. Be sure you let her know if you are using an X-plan price, she had to get usage approved through her manager. PM me if you want to use my name for the referral (no I don't get anything). Since these are dealer stock, the price protection doesn't apply. Good luck. Glad to finally be in the club of FEH owners!
  12. Has anyone heard about more downtime at KCAP? My dealer inventory manager is now saying that all orders through year end are spoken for and the plant is basically producing already committed Hybrids. I found this thread that mentions downtime on the SUV (Escape) lines, meaning that the overtime/3rd shift will be cut, but nothing else.
  13. The screen panel and 10gb hard drive only come with the nav system. The standard radio doesn't have a display on it, so I believe Sync information is displayed on the top of dash display. Another owner would need to confirm. You don't get the battery life display with the standard radio. FYI, Ford's site says that it is Sirius, not XM. I've read they are cross pollinating channels, but you will need to go to Sirius's site to validate. This link explains the standard and optional features. http://www.fordvehicles.com/suvs/escapehybrid/features/
  14. This URL shows a faster path to the CRC. (800) 521-4140 http://www.customersaskford.com/#
  15. I've read on this forum that fleet orders can be done with non-standard options. However, Ford had suspended all fleet orders before the 09 models came online (due to the low availability), so I'm not sure how this got in there. I was at a dealer on Friday and the dealer showed me that Stone was the only available color for the FEH and FEHL. I saw the camel cloth interior and it's a dark brown color that is much nicer looking than the light tan "stone" leather. For those thinking about cloth vs. leather, it's a really nice look. If I would have known it looked that good, I would have gone with the standard FEH vs. the Limited.
