  1. I don't have that problem because I don't have a gas cap. :happy feet: By the way, I think that's one of the smartest things they've done in years. With my '07 GT500 had it. bj
  2. Yup. Weather mats and the cargo thingy. Maybe I can use some black shoe polish and do the whole interior. bj
  3. I called Ford about it and they hooked me up with a mfg that they use. It's in the car. I'll bring it in later and post it up. Expensive as hell but seems to work. I hate it that we couldn't get a black or charcoal interior. I have the fancy black (metallic) paint, whatever it was called. My interior looks like crap most of the time because of snow and salt. I teach scuba and I can't wait to see what the rear of this thing looks like after stacking a ton of gear in it (damp, sandy, dirty, ugh) bj
  4. OK....5,000 miles on the clock. Engine a little noisy as Mr Atkinson wakes up. World's stupidest interior color combo. Other than that, we're loving our FEH Limited. Averaging around 29mpg because there's a brass monkey running around here with no balls. MAN, it's been cold this winter. Warmer days = more mpg. So, what's my beef other than the blue jean stain on all four seat edges? The freakin' horn!! What a woosie thing this is. My wife is embarrassed to use it. So, shy of hooking up some train horns, do any of you know of a multi-tone horn that I can pick up at my Ford store (or PepBoys) and just do a 5 min plug and play? Thanks. bj
  5. Current stable: 2007 GT500 (1st month of production) 2009 Escape Hybrid Limited FWD 32mpg! 2005 Honda Goldwing 2008 Can-Am Spyder
  6. Outstanding work. Yeah, my wife said "Chally" as well, but you're exactly right....lots of cues from the '70 with the NACA ducts and the narrow (short in height) grill treatment....looks awesome. bj
  7. Sure, we see 32-34 mpg around town with a light foot (and reasonable, seasonable temps). Hiway mpgs range from 29 at about 60-ish to 26.5 at 75 mph. Somewhere between 70 and 75 is the ugly zone for the FEH from a mpg standpoint. By the way, it's a FWD '09. So...yesterday I take a 300 mile run downstate and it was WINDY with sustained winds of 20-25 mph and gusts of 40+. And of course it was almost right on the nose. At 70-75 mph I averaged 22.8mpg. Temps were in the mid 20s. It was cold here last week, too with local temps in the low 20s and high teens. City mpg fell to around 24 with normal driving. Why? Heat. The heat is cranking to keep the cabin temps up...the windshield needs the occasional defog which means you can't run in econ mode. Today's return trip saw less of a headwind, but temps around 10f. About the same thing....+/- 22.5-22.8. Once I got into the city, the mpgs started climbing, but certainly not a the rate it does at a reasonable ambient temp. Al Gore is wrong. Global warming is our friend. I'm going to throw out all my stick deodorant and buy nothing but aerosol. Al obviously doesn't spend his winters in Chicago! Thought you all might be interested in a road report. BTW....just a tick over 2,000 miles on the clock. Overall...thrilled. Hate the interior color as it picks up every micron of blue dye from jeans and makes it look like crap. Seat covers forthcoming. bj
  8. Is it an '09 or an '08? If it's an '08 it can be as simple as a gas cap that's not sealed properly. Remove and replace. With the new capless ones on the '09s....hmmmmmm. 90% of the time you can reset a check engine by pulling the battery cables for 10 minutes. It soft boots the ecm. bj
  9. Maybe the service manual has more, but it appears as though the 25 second delay is standard for the dome and map lights (p53 owner's manual). On page 99 (locks and security) the illuminated entry system will turn off all interior lights when the Integrated Keyhead Xmitter lock control is pressed...if you lock it using the keypad or after 25 seconds of illumination. I didn't find anything else either. Glad to hear you like yours. We're loving ours, too. I think someone here at work wants to buy Bob's green '08 hybrid. I guess it's still tough to get them as an order and there's still little to nothing as "stock" bj
  10. If you want a black one , front wheel drive, my dealer in Berwyn has one. I and another guy both ordered ours in May. I got mine two weeks ago. Your priority code of 20 means you're not seeing it for a long time if there's anyone in front of you. Anyway...the other guy backed out on his for personal reasons. It's black with nav. A limited. It's at Anderson Ford. Call for Bob or April and tell them BJ told you about it and see if it's still there. bj
  11. Yeah...they couldn't do X on that car as it had been built as one and couldn't be transferred. Bizarre but true. Rizza had one on the lot?! That's rare! Congrats. bj
  12. I provided an answer in the tech threads above. bj
  13. I just averaged 36.2 on my first 150 miles, mostly highway at 65-70 mph. When on surface streets, I was very light on the throttle. bj
  14. Yeah....with my GT500 I varied the speeds and didn't get it over about 4500 rpm for the ride home (400 miles). After that, my daily Chicago commute handled the "varying speeds" issue! At 900 I changed the oil and gave it another 200 before taking it to the redline. Then....drive it like you stole it. :happy feet: With the Atkinson cycle engine and it's on/off nature we're going to baby it a bit for the first few hundred, then play with it a little so it doesn't grow up to be a slug. The book sez 1,000 and since this is a purchase and not a lease, we'll treat it a little nicer than normal. BTW....dealer just told me FoMoCo has a program coming out next week that is employee pricing (He thinks A plan) or rebates of up to $6,000 on everything but the new F-150, Hybrids and GT500s. bj
