  1. It is the slippery when wet, also I would like to argue the whole "laws of physics" thing. If the "LAW" says that at a given speed and turn radius I will fly off the road why then when AT can brake the inside rear wheel and keep me on the road at a faster speed than I could do it before? It does not change the LAW but extends the point at which the law takes place. Anyrate I think its a cool feature and think it should be an option. Once again I will say that the studies show people with some sort of version of AdvanceTrac have fewer accidents.
  2. The Focus had the option in 2001, I know I have it. And trust me when I say it can do a better job of keeping you on the road than a experienced driver, it can think and respond faster than any human. Some may say its a nanny feature but it is disabled via the botton down by the e-brake. I would say for the most part though it has a high threshold before it does its magic, virtually any "normal" daily driver would not even require its help unless in a panic/emergency manuvuer, and thats where it really shines. Anyrate for those of you how say its unneeded, I say you should try it before you knock it.
  3. "Once ABS is on the vehicle, adding these features is a cheap and easy option." What I do not understand is why they actually took options off, ie: the Focus. Is that not actually making your product less competitive? While I know they needed to cut cost to become profitable, I don't see how making ones product less comeptitive acheives ones long term goal, I see it as short sightedness. Ford needs to add some visible"neat-o" items to the product line. If Ford worried more about the product they would have to spend less time looking at the bottom line. I think Ford has to many bean-counters in the wrong places.
  4. You seem to be supporting GM here so why dont you goto a GM board and talk your talk... The vega is history and so is GM ~40% chance of default...
  5. Recent studies/data have suggested that vehicles equiped with stability control systems are less likely to get into crashes due to the coditions or over confident drivers. My 01 Foci has it, why cannot I upgrade to an 05 and get it? Please re-intoduce this option and make ABS standard once again. Having a personal saftey system is awesome but I'd rather have the techonology that helps me keep from using (I guess one does not "use" it but rather experience it) the PSS in the first place
  6. Please continue to ingore (kill) Lincoln so my pristine 65 Continental will go up in value. Thank You
  7. WOW  you think a vega was cool? This has huge inroads into your personality and skewed perception of reality.   FAST    When Road & Track magazine (7/76) finally got one to test (from a private owner) it found that the 1998 cc (122 cu in.), 110 horsepower twin-cammer took a mediocre 12.3 seconds to accelerate the car from zero to 96 km/h (60 mph). This was barely faster than the 12.7 seconds of another recently introduced little two-door hatchback, the Volkswagen Scirocco (R & T 2/75). And the Scirocco cost about two-thirds as much as the Cosworth Vega and got 50 per cent better fuel economy. So not cool, or fast and well yes bad in the true meaning of the word.
  8. Ok I retract the 4 door variant, if you want a 4 door buy an exploder err sport trac. My thinking on this is, if you want 4 door its cause you probably want to haul people and just a little junk in the back, otherwise accordian your passangers in to the jump seats! haha if you want to haul people and lots of junk a ranger it probably not the best choice better step up to a F-series.
  9. Keep it the same size, have a real 4 door variant, offer a small straight 5 or 6 cylinder diesel. Keep it truckish for the real backwoods, offroad people. Simple, rugged, tough. need i say more?
  10. Seems to be the same old GM story to me, before long the only diff between a chevy and a Sabb will be the tacked on fibreglass front and year oh and of course the badges on steering wheel. Can't wait to see how many billions they loss on this venture!! GM to bankrupcty yeah!... <---sarcasm....
  11. So while this apparent Camery replacement looks like a Lexus, which may lead people who buy these cars think I got some bling bling Lexus for aToyota price. What happens to the average Lexus buyer who now thinks his car looks like a cheap knock off of a Toyota? Or does it really matter in the bottom range of the Lexus brand? Seems to me like a little bit of GM brand fuzzyness is sneaking in. If all Lexus's are so great why cannot they all have there own identity?
