I was just giving my opinion of why Pres. Clinton was able to balance the budget....and why Pres. Bush had to spend too much money....If Clinton had kept up with his #1 priority as president....national security....we MIGHT have had a different economic outcome....What I did notice in your post is you want to bring silly politics into this post....I don't care what party a "leader" is from....I base my opinions on outcome. I don't follow what you are saying about FDR and Truman....I'm 100% behind a strong military...I think you may be confused.... I'm not surprised

How young or short sided you must be....we were vunerable for one reason....the Clinton administration cut so much from defense that we were like an apple ready to be picked by our adversaries....I have a relative in the NSA that has told me we had so many cuts under Clinton that we were lucky that a major power didn't move on us at that time.... because Clinton had cut to the bone to save money ...we had no idea what the rest of the world was up to....national security is #1....Clinton was distracted by "other" things....I'm far from a Bush fan....but he had to spend money he didn't have BECAUSE of Clinton's' lack of foresight....now we all must pay....wouldn't it have been cheaper to just keep a strong defense and intelligence?....instead of having a balanced budget for a few years...again....short sided thinking

That is not the way I remember it....I can't find the 2003 or earlier contract....I didn't think I would ever need them after I retired...lol..If you could come up with the language that includes ford credit...I would love to see it

I am also sure they never were....not to the point of betting my life.... but quite sure...why would Ford or the UAW think we had any claim to Ford Credits profits?

I wouldn't bet my life on it but...I don't think we ever got any profit sharing from ford credit...only North American auto operations

Is there any way that the people who have paid in all their lives can be assured they will get what they paid for....why should these people get screwed? Maybe the benefit amount should be based on what you actually paid into the program.....let everyone who is using more bennies then they paid for should take a cut....and get help from somewhere else or somebody else.

I don't know where you got the Idea that you vote for the new contract before the old contract expires....I've been with Ford since 1974 and never have I ever voted early...before sept 15th....the pattern has been to extend the old contract until a new agreement is agreed to....we last struck in '76....don't make stuff up just to post

I have to ask....what would you strike for?....what is it that you want that is worth your livelihood? I grew up in rubber worker country....they struck every contract it would seem like...and by the time they would settle ...the newspaper would state that it would take 6 years of their new accepted contract to equal what they turned down at the original contract date....strikes don't work...If you have ever been thru one you would know.....you strike over serious things....present workers don't have serious concerns...you have the union and the government taking care of you....the last ford strike was 1976....It won't happen again if you are lucky....believe me the worker looses every time in a work stoppage....don't be ignorant, realize what you have, look at your friends that work other places....who has it better?

Fox is a joke....Yesterday I was watching the Anthony murder trial on Fox....the judge took a recess and Fox went to the news.....they showed a story of a bomb tech trying to get into a car they suspected of having a bomb inside....as he struggled to open the door of the car, the bomb exploded.....the babe reading the news said "watch how this technician is blown 30 feet from the blast".....everyone who saw the tape can plainly see ..... the tech was knocked down about 3 feet from where he was standing.....but they have to sensationalize everything....not just politics.....Fox is for entertainment....not news

I'm from that era, I know what went on to avoid serving....But after paying into Canada's coffers for his entire productive life....he moves back to the States....I know this is all circumstantial but I think he could be the "benefit abuser" that I have accused him of being....Don't get me wrong....I know I'm stretching the limits of decorum....But name calling liberals that won't debate, bring out my anger....I am sorry if I offended anyone besides Aces.
