  1. From the comments it seems you all didn't read the article or didn't understand it.
  2. How much of this would you have received without the union?
  3. Look it up....China has been the largest auto market for at least 4 years....this is here and now...not the future
  4. When complaining about Ford trying to expand their world markets we need to realize that the US market isn't that big....If Ford is going to remain competitive they need to keep investing overseas....The chinese market is 4 times as large as the US market....I think our market is 5th largest
  5. You do realize that your pension is your years of service multiplied by your LIB Life income Benefit I find it hard to believe a 50 year man and a 30 year man have anywhere near the same benefit Glow ...you must be young and short sighted...but believe me, you will need to quit someday and i believe a pension is the most efficient way to get there. Every contract the LIB should be raised....my opinion
  6. isn't Rawsonville a similar situation we accepted in a previous Ford contract?
  7. your numbers are a little low for SS...mine is just under 1750...about 10% more....
  8. Pmooret...I see the numbers and know it is a tough choice to retire....If you have any hobbies or a passion for anything I would encourage you to think about taking whatever time you have left and spend that time with people you love and doing things you enjoy. I can't tell you how valuable your time is if you are active enough to enjoy it....I don't need anymore junk, so there is no need for the extra income that comes from continuing to work....To me, my freedom is worth much more than the added income...much more
  9. The Supplemental portion of your check before 62 is approx. $1445. That will drop off at 62. SS will begin and you will get X amount. The 2 aren't relative to each other. we all will have different amounts due us from SS...I think you will find that the supplemental is going to be less than SS....Unless you want to keep working, don't be afraid you will lose money at 62...not gonna happen...Also once you turn 62 you will get credit for any time you have over 30...
  10. lots of questions....no real employment after retiring....make about 2000 a year goofing off at a golf course...survivor benefit yes...of course i have the normal bills that are my responsibility from our VEBA. I was told by our benefit rep that I wouldn't see much reduction in SS even with not contributing much since retiring...he was 100% correct...my SS is approx. 200 more per month than my bridge benefit....let's not be passing bad info on here...it's a big decision to retire...if you don't KNOW why comment?
  11. I'm not sure what you are saying there but I can tell you I retired at 52 and I will get more money from SS than my Ford Supplemental is....I was surprised also...Thought retiring early would knock my SS down considerably but it didn't. Don't buy into what you've heard...retire anytime you have 30 if you think you can...if you have your debt in order, your pension should work.
  12. Are you saying you believe supplemental retirement (bridge) is 600 or 700 dollars more than SS at 62? I disagree....
  13. Thanks Ms. Pmooret... I retired in 2008 and was a little fuzzy about LIB Not 62 yet so this hasn't been on my mind. Good luck with this contract.
  14. Could one of you gentlemen refresh my memory what is Life Income Benefit?
  15. Thanks...Their workers apparently aren't under any limits for profit sharing...
  16. MTP'er.... any chance you could post a link to their profit share distributions? ....I couldn't find any links
  17. bigphish....I am called a shitstirer, especially by my friends, not knowing me, you and others may get the wrong impression, my antagonism is one of my best attributes. I get worked up when autoworkers don't seem to appreciate what they have. 2 tier wages suck...retiree insurance is a disappointment...but for most people working at Ford is like hitting the lottery...I see the positives outweighing the negatives in this economic climate...the written word is hard to get your tone across...sometimes personal bias is inserted to a comment by the reader...I will stand down now...until I can't help myself, again....thanks for the wake up call....oh yea....GO BUCKEYES....lol
  18. no overtime???? Sorry to hear that....I bet many would love to have your straight time wage....you guys ...a few anyways sound like spoiled brats....no one owes you anything...be thankful for the small things....I'm going to bed...you younger workers are certainly different then the men I spent 34 years with....
  19. I'm not sure why you think I don't know about how VEBA is funded...I've been retired awhile, but I think my shit is still straight as you put it...I think maybe you misread something I wrote....Here is something you should think about ...Ford gave the UAW enough money to cover the current retirees....all guys like you are going to have to make a profit until you retire or there will be no insurance for you...if you ever get there....I didn't make this up....look into it....you are not paying for my coverage...Ford did that....the 10% is for the future retirees....why so angry ....You see once us retirees get to age 65, we don't need the VEBA anymore...I can buy supplemental insurance to cover what medicare doesn't for less then the UAW charges monthly...I think your shit maybe crooked.....hahaha
  20. I call profit sharing free money because I believe you would work just as hard even if you never got profit sharing....you work hard everyday because that is what you were hired to do...not because of profit sharing...free money?...think about it....I put in my time with and without the chance of a profit sharing check...and no one I worked with ever gave a thought of working differently because of profit sharing....We all hired into a situation that the company and union controlled...we are just the grunts....I'm no union cheerleader by any means...but we have or had very good paying jobs with good bennies...The company didn't GIVE these to us out of the goodness of their hearts...our union negotiated them for us...good time of year to be thankful....I give up....can't take the negativity ..go ahead and be angry about your situation...you might want to blame yourself if you feel you're not compensated enough....there are a lot of opportunities out there.
  21. Please don't speak of our union in such a derogatory tone....you would not be looking at retiring in a few years if not for my/our union, you would not have nearly the benefits if not for the UAW...let alone getting a share of the profit....wake up brother....the benefit you fund with 10% of extra/free money may someday be your own....
  22. Let's just cut to the chase..."Do you support paying 10% of your profit sharing to VEBA"
  23. If your "minus 10% for VEBA " wasn't a shot at the arrangement to pay for our medical benefits...why didn't you also add union dues, medicare, state tax, federal tax, school tax...and what ever else you pay out of profit sharing....you can try to back out of your own words but it ain't flying with me....if your looking for the one dumbass in every topic you might want to look in the mirror... Also our union is the one who reduced our benefit levels....this has nothing to do with the company...If Ford would have tried to do to the retirees, what the union did...we would have had our first strike since '76
  24. Do you want medical coverage when you retire???? Then you better hope that every profit share is good...Ford no longer owes you medical when you retire....The money has to come from you or there will be none....Ford paid all they are going to...If you want coverage in retirement, you better not bitch about paying for it now....or your could pay later dumb ass
