  1. Your right, they are chipping away at trades and we are letting it happen. Why did GM agree to pay trades wages while in production? Clearly they are committed to trying to get them back or willing to be penalized financially if they don't. Why didn't Ford agree to this, they were willing to pay us in 2009 when they needed the "concessions". There is a simple reason they didn't want it, they know there will be allot of us still in production over the next four years. They say they will have talks about reskilling us, they "reskilled about 5 people in the last contract out of 500 laid off. Does that sound like they are both committed to getting us back on our tools? Though I am happy they upped the buy out for trades, most of these guys just wont leave even with 100,000 + 6,000+profit sharing. They know we are going to sit a long time.
  2. Hello , are u one of the people with their photo on the highlight book? New member spinmaster.
  3. LETS SEE...... NEW MEMBER GLOWING MULTIPLE POSTS ON HOW FANTASTIC THE AGREEMENT IS DOOM AND GLOOM IF WE VOTE NO HUH, COULDNT BE P.R. SPIN CONTROL COULD IT?
  4. I'm smelling IUAW spin control propaganda by a newly registered member.
  5. PROBALLY NOT IF THE COMPANY AND THE UNION AGREE. AT WIXOM THEY RED LINED THE WELDER FIXTURE REPAIR. AFTER A FEW YEARS THEY SPLIT THE WORK UP BETWEEN ELECTRICAINS AND PIPEFITTERS, AND THEY PUT THEM IN GEN. SINCE THERE IS NO GEN AND THEY HAVE RESKILLED ABOUT 5 PEOPLE IN THE LAST FOUR YEARS IT DOESNT LOOK GOOD. I DONT MEAN TO SCARE YOU OR BE SO BLUNT BUT THIS IS WHATS HAPPENNING TO TRADES. THEY ARE SLOWING GETTING RID US OF THROUGH RED LINE, MECHANICAL GROUPING, AND NOW WORK GROUPS WITH PRODUCTION. NOBODY CARES ABOUT ALL THIS UNTIL IT AFFECTS THEM, MANY OF OF HAVE BEEN GOING THROUGH THIS FOR YEARS. THERE IS ABOLUTLY NO INCENTIVE TO PUT US BACK ON OUR TOOLS OR RETRAIN US IF WE ARE ON THE LINE WITH LINE WAGES.HELL, THEY ARE PROBALLY HOPING SOME OF US QUIT, TAKE A BUYOUT, OR JUST STAY THERE. I WOULD TRY TO GET AS MUCH INFORMATION AS I COULD AT THE TOWNHALL MEETINGS THEY WILL HAVE ABOUT THIS CONTRACT.
  6. WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU READING???? THIS IS THE SAME BS THAT HAPPENED FOUR YEARS AGO? IN THE PAST 3 YEARS THERE HAVE BEEN MAYBE 30 TO 40 POSTINGS FOR VARIUOS TRADES. I THINK YOU ARE GETTING WAY TO EXCITED ABOUT NOTHING.THEY HAD BUYOUTS IN THE LAST CONTRACT AND THEY REPLACED LIKE 1 FOR EVERY 5 AND THATS BEING GENEROUS! WITH NO REAL INCENTIVE TO PUT US BACK, I WOULD NOT GET EXCITED AT ALL.THEY HAVE BEEN SAYING THEY WERE GOING TO "HAVE TALKS ABOUT RETRAINING SINCE GEN ENDED...WOW 5 JOBS. THEY HAVE HAD TALKS ABOUT PUTTING MORE TRADES ON, GREEDY CHAIRPERSONS DO NOT WANT TO BRING IN MORE TRADES AND PISS OFF VOTERS. IM VOTING NO, THERE IS NO REAL INCENTIVE OR SOLID INFORMATION ABOUT HOW OR WHEN. "WE WILL HAVE TALKS"....MY ASS!! 10% PROFIT SHARING TOWARDS VEBA THE UNION WANTED...BS. NO COLA....BS. NO SKILLED TRADES PAY WHILE ON PRODUCTION, THEY OFFERD IT IN 2009 WHERE IS IT NOW??????? NOW THAT IS AN INCENTIVE TO PUT US BACK ON OR "RESKILL" WHAT EVER THAT CRAP MEANS, THAT SOUNDS FISHY TOO.
  7. Check out page 447, all underlined words means that this was added. That states that mechanical teams go from a pilot program to "launch program!! NO THANKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Page 374....ya they have allowed like 5 people to become pso's at Dearborn out of hundreds laid of. All of this in four years, ya thanks.Boy did you guys put the old nose to the grind stone and help 5 out of 200. THANKS FOR THE EFFORT!!!!
  8. So when are you going to quit? Why don't you take your non -skilled talents over to Walmart. What does 1982 have to do with us getting screwed. I'll remember your stupid comment when you are being forced to take a $5.00 pay cut to be "competitive", pay 20% towards VEBA, $50.00 doctor visits, 3 hours towards Union dues, ect ect. And Ill be there to tell you to quit and take your G.E.D. to Walmart!! You ignorant poster, you don't get it unless it affects you. It is affecting you right now and your hating on trades because why? Its not me vs production , its " WE as in UAW HOURLY WORKERS " are are being screwed, but jealous company men like you wont see it until its too late.
  9. There is absolutely no incentive to put us back on. They even say in the so called highlight book "When mechanical trades are implemented" Don't we get to vote on this first? The last time they wanted us to drink the kool aid in Mods of 2009 they wanted us to accept mechanical trades and work teams. In return they going to pay trades in production trades wages. At least this gives the company an incentive to put us back on or retrain us.Where is that this time...no where!!! in the past 4 years the union and the company let about 5 tradesmen at the rouge site become PSO's, but they were from there. Wow that's really making me feel confident that in the next four years they are going to retrain another four trades on out of hundreds laid off. As long as chairs want to get re-elected they are going to keep us out and keeps folks happy at election time.. What happened to trades pay in production???? This is one way of forcing the company to retrain or put us back on. VOTE NO
  10. FUNNY, ITS SAYS "WHEN MANTENANCE TEAMS ARE IMPLEMENTED".... THIS IS BEFORE WE EVEN VOTE YES OR NO!!!! NICE ASSUMPTION OF US SAYING.... YES WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE TRADES DOWNSIZED!! VOTE NO
  11. BOY DOES THIS POST SMELL LIKE IUAW SPIN CONTROL OR WHAT.JUST REGISTERED AS A MEMBER I SEE.
  12. That seems to be the plan. Two shifts of 8, or three of 8.
  13. Then the company should fund the rest, not me. They committed to fund it 100% and turn it over to IUAW. This isn't Social Security. Health care from the company is now a IUAW issue. They wanted to run it now they have to get the funding from the company not me. Dont retired IUAW staff have an extra pension funded from UAW dues , thats about 35,000 to every IUAW retiree. Get it from there !!
  14. "The union also proposes that 10 percent of each employee's profit sharing go into the health care trust to meet obligations to retirees. King said the company is still exploring the legality, but the UAW wants the membership to ratify this move. " From The Detroit News: http://detnews.com/article/20110920/AUTO01/109200404/GM-contract-proposal--$2.5B-investment--6-400-jobs--bonuses#ixzz1YWYwa5rK Did anyonenotice that they want 10% of the profit sharing to go towards helping with reiree health care??? Didnt the IUAW get billions to take this over? Why would money from employee profit sharing go to the UAW ??? VEBA is betwwen the company and the IUAW, they wanted to take it over, they should deal with it! I smell BS, is this a fancy way of a kickback? This is why we should get the whole contract before voting. Why should I pay $1200.00 a year to help fund VEBA?
  15. Been there done that. Bye Wixom...thanks Billy boy!!
  16. When I came to DTP there were 19 tradesman that had less time than me when my plant closed and I went there as production. That's just at that location. Its sick to think I pay dues and seniority means crap!!! The best part is when there is a posting they let high seniority with jobs sign them and backfill with low seniority. How in the hell should trades with jobs be able to sign a job posting? Isn't that a job transfer, not a job posting? Mean while Im stuck in limbo not being able to bump and having trades WITH jobs take my posting!!! Thanks UAW !!!
  17. I have been living this nightmare since 2007. Its old disturbing news, no body cares until it affects them.
  18. This is a quote, not edited at all. Go here to read all http://www.leftlanenews.com/uaws-king-says-14-entry-level-hourly-wages-not-livable.html . By Nat Shirley Friday, Aug 19th, 2011 @ 5:02 pm [/url]Share43 111diggsdigg <P class=social_gplus_width>UAW President Bob King stated in an interview today that raising the wages of entry-level employees, who have been vociferous in communicating their displeasure with current compensation levels, is one of the union’s top priorities in the ongoing labor negotiations with Detroit’s Big Three automakers. King’s comments may be intended to placate second tier union members, who have not been shy about voicing their dissatisfaction with the current wage system ...My God if I had only known all I had to do Is complain about an unfair injustice like not getting a raise in nine years and poof it will be a top priority? We've got to raise those wages so workers will want to stay and workers can support their families by working full-time in the auto industry,” said King. ...I want to stay more than the twenty years I have already put in Mr. Second Tier new hire...I want a raise too! And finally,“They’re not representing us,” said one worker, speaking in reference to UAW management, at a rally in Detroit last Saturday. “They’re oppressing us" ....Welcome to the club buddy, its all you can eat. You cant make this stuff up. They hire in knowing what we make, knowing what they will make. Then, they bitch and bitch about it and whamo...its a top priority????? I haven't heard one thing that the majority of us want back listed as a "top priority". All I have read is what someone else wants for me, someone who is supposed to speak for you and me. Who do I contact to get fired up for the high seniority workers?
  19. Amen...Brother. I know guys o-in my trades and others making 100,000 plus. Are you telling that they don't need more trades there? As I have said before, chairpersons don't want to rock the boat and loose votes. If there isn't a bump right for zone I'm voting no. If they bring back the gen then fine, but we know that's not happening. Why should I sit out when from a closed plant while twice as low seniority in zone work? Seniority is the foundation of plant and comp;any life.
  20. Another issue as of recent. Ford has had issues with the Chinese made manual transmissions they chose to outsource, not us. Because of their actions not ours the company surely will take a hit financially and image wise. This will directly affect our " shared prosperity bonus". So we get less money because of a poor management decision,. I am surprised more people haven't commented on this issue.
  21. This is the kind of thing we need to be aware of! They want to forgo any and all raises, and not give back any concessions in lieu of increased share in profits. So here's a scenario... We the workers continue to work without a raise, decreased time in breaks, and increased workloads. you know they will increase the workload telling us that more efficiency will be paid back to us in more profit sharing. Then POW!!! , after 10 months of busting your ass Top brass, an overloaded and under qualified engineer or whoever buys or designs a crappy part and it costs us 500 million dollars. Oh, thanks to them we get a few hundred instead of thousands. We didn't cause it, it wasn't because of labor, or poor assembly or anything related to us! Does Alan, Bill, and Mark still get their millions...yes.Will we get ours, no. Because its all tied together. This can play out in many different ways but it is still plays out the same. Factors beyond our control will cost us dearly. What if another Firestone happens, what if they spend millions on another Ford 500 or Edsel. Hell it seems they still love the Pinto by the way the tanks are dropping on the F150's. WE WILL GET NEXT TO NOTHING FOR OUR CONCESSIONS INSTEAD OF RASISES AND RETURN OF PAST CONCESSIONS. PLEASE CONCIDER THIS AND DISCUSS IT WITH OTHER COWORKERS.
  22. Some familiar with IUAW constitution can you confirm this .By not voting in the upcoming contract, does this constitute a yes vote,? I believe it is so.
  23. The big difference is I have spent 20 years working here at ford, and hired in at full wage you knew what you were going to get and took the job. Stop your whining.
  24. This is absolutely crazy!!!!! They are saying they want more money for lite blue, but they don't want to ask for a raise for us? We cant have one so the company can stay competitive? There is no f-ing way Im going to vote yes unless... I get my cola back, awols fall off after a year, or they let me use my vacation time up to a year and a half . I get back my break time minutes lost there is a zone bump, there is no reason that with no gen bank they cannot do this. I am not going to tie my wages to company performance when they will exclude all revenue made on vehicles produced outside of the untied states!!! Tied to productivity... that me they will really crack the whip and overload then. We have no power on the floor, all our bargaining chips are gone. If they would only lighten up on the jobs they would get better quality, and less injuries, downtime, awols. I am so sick of the give-aways. Come back and work on the line for a month and tell me I am wrong!!! I want to see a town hall meeting when they try to spoon this stuff out. Who in the hell votes for a contract with vague highlights, and language that says to be discussed later?????? PLEASE, SOMEONE TELL ME I AM NOT ASKING FOR TOO MUCH.
